@Harima1994 i thought the same at first! However I have grown to love it. It is a seperate story rather than a season 2 but at least they have the same seiyuus we all know and love, unlike another anime series. The truth is that neither anime series are a direct interpretation of the manga. If you like the anime you should read the manga too!

@omnipossum92 I didn't like the first Negima anime because I went in expecting it to be quite faithful to the manga and ended up disappointed.

When I told myself to let the second Negima anime win or lose on its own merits, I ended up loving it for what it was. The fact that it was made by Studio Shaft and looks like Pani Poni Dash added a lot of humour. They also give all the characters a chance to grow in the 2nd season (even if they were a bit OoC sometimes), but that just added laughs.

@Toratchi888 I like both anime series. Actually, I find it fun to look at different versions of series. As far as I know, Negima has a manga, 3 anime series and a live action series. It probably has a drama CD too. Then there is Fruits Basket which has a manga, drama CD and anime. The anime was similar to Negima when it comes to accuracy to the manga (bad grammar, I know).

And another thing. If you compare something to anime Studio Shaft animated, of course it will look dull in comparison!! =3

@omnipossum92 I thought Negima only had 2 anime series, then a bunch of OVAs. Unless you count the OVAs as their own (mini-)series.

And I compare the Negima series as I got them (and as they came out). I read the manga, watched the 1st anime, read more manga, watched the 2nd anime. I basically watch the 2nd anime for the characters and comedy, not for the relationship to the manga's plot.

@Toratchi888 With the OVAs, there is the Spring and Summer ones, there are also 2 other OVA series. They actually follow the manga chapters from 176- 183 and the other 184-204 (had to look at Wikipedia for this =3). Not sure how accurate they are though. I personally found out about Negima through Youtube. My cousin showed me a funny video involving a cake and one of the related videos was a clip from the first Negima series involving Asuna making a cake. Of course I had to check it out.

@Toratchi888 I find out about a lot of manga by looking where they are kept in my local library. I found Negima on the shelf and thought "the anime series was good so I think I'll look at the manga. They always seem better than their animated counterparts." Of course, I really enjoyed the manga but I never really got to reading it seriously. There would be different volumes each time I visited. It's not the kind of series where I could just pick a random volume and understand what was going on.
