  • paramore :)

  • PARAMORE es el mejor!!!

  • Na qe ver aguante paramore♥

  • Do I hear the 4 chords in both of these songs? Check out Axis of Awesome and you'll see why this is BS.

  • You could say they're both ripping off randy newman. Such a common chord progression.

  • wow this is actually quite a good song..

  • i think these songs would make a good mash up i don't think that Paramore stole the song but they are very close in melody

  • Paramore sent their song The Only Exception to their label Fueled by Ramen in 2006 so that means they had this song before starlight so basiclly Paramore didnt copy a song since they wrote it earlier

  • Key Chords and timing are meaningless. You Can't copyright those. Melody is different but will sound similar b/c it is the same chords and keys. The poster had to do certain things like speed up the song, and include breaks in T.O.E in order to get it to match up (not calling you out Greenroom I am just pointing it out!) Unless there is significant use of lyric or melody then there's dice. Let's see what the courts say. For comparison see Avril Lavigne's "work" Girlfriend

  • The guitar sounds similar but the rest is so differant

  • the indie faggots are just jealous their song got nowhere

  • Hayley wrote The Only Exception because of her actual experience about her parents.... that's what i know.... but this song is just "accidentally" same, i think... i love paramore..

  • PARAMORE DID NOT COPY THE TENSPOKE INDIES, AND FOR ANYOEN WHO THINKS THEY SOUND GOOD TOGETHER PLEASE GO DIE IN A HOLE, PARAMORE IS AMAZING AND TENSPOKE INDIES ARE SCUM FOR TRYING TO SUE.

  • You have to understand that music-listeners are very impressionable, so it's very possible they accidentally copied them. It happens all the time. And, it does happen again in another song Paramore does. Except it's a rift. And the band was famous. AND THEY DIDN'T SUE.

  • @3HeartsWereBreaking And anyway, it would be impossible for every song to have a different chord progression and beat. So a 6/8, B/ F#m/E isn't that special.

  • The chord progressions are very similar, but you totally faked this one. I'm a big paramore fan, and "The Only Exception" was sped up to match the pace of the other song to make them sound more similar.

  • The chord progressions are very very common! Who cares? Hey, lets look on the bright side, these songs sound amazing together! lol

  • Almost all rock songs are made from the same 4 chords....almost all song progressions are about the same length... so to say that climax, breakdown and other things really doesn't matter , oh and looks like they end in diffrent places to.... I have written songs that sound similar to other "famous" songs in chords and such but there sometimes is just no avoiding it. I do think they sound a little similar but I dont believe that Paramore needs to steal anything.

  • Pretty damn convincing. I don't see how people can NOT hear the similarities.

  • they sound kind of good together

  • Alot of people try n tell me that because he doesnt kno me that he did take my shit.. -_- lol Im not trippin or nothin, but people get inspired and shit happens.. his "i do its" are at the exact same tone, and repetitiveness.. he just has a different beat, and he say's boy alot afterwards.. Cuz if he didnt, EVERYONE would know he stole it.. Duhh. Same case here, thats why i kno for a fact that only exception was "Inspired" by starlighter to say the least..

  • Im no stranger to having my music copied by another artist so i kno wat its like... WHEN ITS UNDENIABLE, ITS UNDENIABLE.. As a matter of fact, for everyone here who listens to rap, check out my channel.. Listen to my song "I Do It" then listen to Big Sean's. Mines was made a MONTH and a half + before his on EVERY video posted of it. But, u CANNOT tell me he didnt get the idea from me. Trust me, i just didnt sue is all. Paramore, just pay the men their money annd move on..

  • Peace to all of my fellow paramore fans.. They stole these guys shit.. Dont try to deny it.. Im probably the biggest paramore fan here.. That doesnt mean i cant take reality, which is one of the things paramore tries to get us to see in most of their songs.. U have to understand, the couldnt copy it piece by piece cuz then its undeniable.. But they stole the idea of chords and melodies from them, hands down. Just switched up vocals and better guitarists. I still love only exception tho.

  • NÃAAAO PARECE NÃO :@@@

  • A bunch of fuckheads who suck, trying to get famous. paramore rocks and you suck. they'll never get anywhere, this is hardly even alike.

  • wow the only thing the same is the Chord pattern and tempo , but lots of songs have the same tempos and chords , Paramore is 10,000 times better

  • EPIC FAIL! The only exception stopped multiple times during this video while starlighter continued playing, that is the only reason things happen at the same time. They are not a like..

  • Here's the difference: Tenspoke Indies is a piece of crap. Paramore is amazing. That is all.

  • This is pretty underwhelming. They're not that close. They both use the same generic pattern, but I don't hear anything ripped off.

  • what tha ? this band needs to be shot ! screw them why tha hell would they sue paramore

  • fail. it sounds nothing like their song.

  • oh and he totally can not sing at all he sucks ass

  • this band sucks cock for trien to sue paramore they are retarded

  • the only similarity is the chord progressions you jack asses fuck u tenspoke indies and what kind of band name is that

  • the story is that tenspoke sent the song to fueled by ramen...so...if that adjusts the story at all...whatever, don't care.

  • aahh fuck u tenspoke indies! there is not same!!

  • If The Only Exception wasn't sped up, this wouldn't be accurate at all. Duh.

  • You can't copyright chord progressions, and that's the only similarity here. The hook is completely different.

  • Not even close to the same.

  • for gods sake the only exception was made before starlighter

  • @cool09879 no, starlighter was made in 06 or 07

  • If Paramore were going to copy someone's music, they would at least make it less obvious. So I think it's just a coincidence. Paramore are a very popular & long running band, and I've never heard of Tenspoke and I doubt everyone I know has. Plus, The Only Exception is nice sounding whereas no offence to Tenspoke but it sounds boring.

  • I don't know how the music industry works as far as presenting music or whatever. I don't claim to know everything about Paramore just because I've wiki'd or some other ridiculous reason. But being a fan who has devoted time to buying their music and watching interviews, they just don't seem like the type to intentionally rip off music. I know looks can be deceiving, but that's just how I feel.

  • Dear Insane-Paramore-fans-who-don't-have-a-better-argument-than-paramore-rules:

Shut the fuck up. You're embarrassing the rest of us.

    Sincerely, hides-face-in-shame.

Listening, they do sound extremely similar in certain parts. But, also, I really don't see them being like "oh my god, this song is so awesome. let's rip it off." I'm not claiming to know them, but with everything they've created in the past, why would they feel the need to blatantly plagiarize music? just my opinion tho. cont.

  • Comment removed

  • If TOE played correctly, your arguments make no sense

  • And then, The Only Exception there is no pause between:

    0:50 and 0:57 ; 1:00 and 1:04 ; 1:15 and 1:20 ; 2:10 and 2:14

    2:22 and 2:25 ; 2:35 and 2:37 ; 2: 55 and 2:57 ; 3:20 and 3:25

    3:44 and 3:46

  • For starters, the music is fast, especially between 2:57 and 3:19

  • Unfortunately for tenspoke, maybe paramore may have subconsciously borrowed parts of the song if they were actually well heard of... They both sound like numerous other songs on the radio and off.

  • this really is ridiculous. today, with milions of songs recorded it's almost imposible to record a song that is not similar to something else. these guys just want attention

  • Lol Tenspoke are just doing it for attention. Paramore has probably NEVER heard of them until they accused them of stealing their material, I know I hadn't until Taylor answered a question about it.

  • I know the guys in Tenspoke Indies, and they are no longer together. Yes, the songs are pretty similar, but maybe it was just a coincidence.

  • similar chords, but The Only Exception is waaaay too slower than what you posted! hear the original version to notice that the times are completely different. And probably Paramore never heard about those losers to copy their song ¬¬

is so sad when people try to use someone else to grow!

anyway, they don't have talent enough to be as good as Paramore and have the WORLD loving and singing what they play ;)

~we could sing our own, but what would it be without you <3 20.02.11 PARAMORE SP

  • Do these 'Tenspoke Indies' OWN the guitar chords or whatever? No. You sped it up - Paramore are original and write their own chizz... imo, there's no case here.

  • mkay these songs sound pretty similar, i'll give them that, but i know how to play only exception and it's all an extremely basic chord progression with an extremely common strumming pattern. Sometimes two different groups just find a similar progression that sounds good and run with it because it sounds good. I really don't think that they stole this song but anything is possible.

  • I'm a fan of Paramore, but I must say they sound pretty similar. I don't know why Paramore would bother copying some other band's song.

  • no offence but i didn't even know this band existed before this lawsuit bullshit. these guys are just looking for attention, they're just using the fact that paramore has a million fans and by pursuing this lawsuit they'd gain more fans. like seriously.... -___-

  • It's going to federal court, so someone believed them.

  • Omg, those guys are such desperate losers, their band is completely unknown, how could anyone could have copied them? This is never going to work.

  • the musics are sooooo different --"

  • lol this is cool, x)

  • i kinda died a little inside but i still dont believe they ripped them off. this happens all the time and its not like paramore is doing this with basically every single they do (like the black eyed peas) this is only once. its a coincidence. every musician will think someone ripped them off in some way.

  • You cut off the sort of part. And I also agree with you.

  • i think those guys just want some attention

  • the only exception esta rapida neste video..... e com pausas do mesmo modo da outra musica. logico que se parece aqui... mas a musica original é totalmente diferente noos povo trouxa viu

  • this is... a lot of things actually. i dont believe that paramore ripped them off. this happens all the time. Green day and oasis, avril lavigne and some other old band about girlfriend. this is just a major coincidence imo...

tenspoke indies need to get over it tbh, i bet this song gave them recognition they would have never had other wise...

  • You say the timing is the same, yet you said you sped up the Paramore song...

  • why havent they brought in some musicologists debunked this already.

  • i've been a songwriter for over 15 years. the idea that this case is actually going anywhere is ridiculous. i also love how the public is just now thinking they are finding out secrets about songs when they find same key/chord progressions.

the big secret is that EVERY chord progression has been done by somebody else first. the melodies are incredibly different. they both wrote with pop format structure but SO DOES EVERYBODY ELSE.

  • sometimes happens that you do a song and yes probably could sound like another song but maybe is cause there are similar chords and more in this kind of music, so i dont think paramore wanted to steal the chords from this song this things could happen and in my opinion i like 1000 times the only exception it has more feeling and the voice of hayley makes it great i dont know the oher group is kind of average and boring , its my opinion

  • They sound cool together..

  • if you write something, its been written before

  • Name of the video should be Who Ripped Off Who?

    Lol

  • the songs together sounds good

  • Well did tenspokes come out before paramores? Could b vice versa

  • @kvlertak16 do you really think they would fuck up like that? haha,

  • Stupid, imagine two songs in the same key. Oh wait the use the same chords too? welcome to music guys I IV V chords alround and don't get me started on standard cadences to bring a melody back to resolve. Oh yeah and sense you know, song form hasn't been messed around with much sense the 12 bar blues happened, every song has the same form for all practical purposes. Look here guys, every modern song ever is the same..... sort of...

  • @Timmyinc44 couldn't agree more!!!! this is what i've been screaming! hell yeah dude! glad someone else has a good head on their shoulders!

  • @Timmyinc44 "every modern song ever is the same" not even close to true.

SHITTY modern music, maybe, but there are still tons of great bands out there.

  • Agree with @GoMJB12 the timing is quite similar and is also similar to many songs. Besides, this a pop song have you ever watched Axis of Awesome - 4 Four Chord Song? You should...

  • Another unknown band trying to bring down the more famous, happens too much.

  • Quite honestly, this video doesn't really point out anything that both songs (and about 5 million others) share a very standard song structure...Intro, Verse, Chorus, Verse, Chorus, Solo/Breakdown, Chorus and are both in the same time signature, which is why parts line up. Neither of these songs are very complex at all, so it's not all surprising that two songs could sound similar. Not taking sides either.

  • WE ARE PARAMORE!

    And always will be.

    Tenspoke Indies Sucks!

    Paramore is better then this.

We'll win this fight! 'Cos WE WERE BORN FOR THIS!

  • Nice song by Tenspoke Indies but nothing is similar than Paramore

  • WE LOVE PARAMORE ♥

  • PARAMORE IS THE BEST!

  • TENSPOKE INDIES SUCKS

  • @brendayoshi196 How do they suck? They have talent and I don't see you making a music.

  • Because NO pop rock songs have EVER sounded alike because all pop rock bands are SO original.

  • @HeyItsKaitlinXD agree!!!!!

  • PARAMORE ! ♥

  • The only problem with people saying that a lot of songs sound the same, is that there are very few that are this closely matched. I'm a Paramore fan, and have never heard of Tenspoke Indies until now, but that doesn't dispute the fact that they are REALLY a lot more similar than they should be.

  • PARAMORE FOR THE WIN!

  • You can't sew someone for having a song similar to yours, if that was the case ever artist would be sewing everyone else....

  • I love Paramore, so I like them better, but I'm just being bias.

  • how could you copy a song that doesnt even exist on youtube??

  • :O

  • But the way the guitar is play is different. And, the point is, that the songs are basically made based on progressions, or escales, it could be a coincidence, because the estructure of the music is based on that, and all the people that write songs do that. The other thing, maybe the Capo, Paramore use a lot of Capo, so it doesnt matter, really, the only exception is autentic, for me, paramore is original ;)

  • @crazychristianguy777 i completely agree! lol, also, it would be good if you also had the only exception as well, Which in my opinion is a better song. Opinion only. Plus, the songs are similar, but paramore has a thicker texture and a different style. And the video kinda indicates that they are siding a little with the other band, which is understandable cos their song was out first and everything, but without the only exception playing, people cant really make fair judgement.....

  • i think 10spoke indies version sounds a bit more....gentle?

  • This video sounds perfect with earphones on. Anyways I don't like Paramore and I'm not interested in Tenspoke Indies (boyband, bleh) so I really don't care who wins the stupid law suit.

  • they might have the same timing but the lyrics and the actual music is not at all the same !

  • Tenspoke Indies is better than paramore and not signed it pisses me off but i hope they win the lawsuit

  • num qria ter q dizer isso..

    mas são identicos os acordes.,,

  • me parece una comparación bastante objetiva

los fans más que defender una sobre otra banda deberían aceptar los hechos como son y dejarse de bobadas...

  • instead of fucking sueing paramore why don't they do a duet? Thumbs up if you agree.

  • The chords being the same doesn't mean a think. Go watch this video:

    /watch?v=Co9mW_9hH2g

as you can see, all these 40 popular songs use the same chords! Even if paramore was inspired by this song, I'd say the difference is big enough to make the tenspoke indies lose the whole case. I think the tenspoke indies did this in order to get attention.

  • So then maybe they should sue the glee cast too, since they did a remake. :P

  • They need to get over their differences and just merge as bands... this sounds awesome!

  • im listening on headphones AND ITS SO COOL how each ear has its own song. WICKED I LOVE PARAMORE

  • i'm a paramore fan but, i think if it's the other way around like paramore sued TSI it would be a totally different story. Double standards.

  • Am I the only one who thinks this sounds pretty cool?

  • Honestly, i think tenspoke indies are just jealous cause FBR rejected them and signed Paramore. But really what even happened to this? Is this lawsuit over yet, cause it's really nothing but a pathetic plead for attention.

  • Ya these are super similar...but honestly with a chord progression this generic these songs are bound to sound like each other. Not really a big deal in my opinion. I could put probably 50 songs on youtube from my itunes that would sound the almost the same. But this video is a pretty cool way of pointing out the similarities I gotta say.

  • there are thousands of songs that have the same chord progression, it happens, doesn't mean they stole it from this band, there is a limited amount of chords and in the beginning of the video he said he sped up the only exception to match starlighter, and the chord progression is the only thing thats similiar, everything else is different

  • It may sound the same, but who really does it better??? *COUGH!*paramore*COUGH!*

  • i wouldnt even put paramore next to this shit band

  • The comments on this video are hilarious.

  • A bit similarities, but they definatly didnt steal it, paramore makes their own music, so they had similiar chords, it happens sometimes. No need for a law suite smh.

  • It's different because in the end paramore has a fading sound, "& I'm on my way to believing." Enough said

  • I know other bands and musicians file fake lawsuits to get noticed. But I think this is the only exception lol! Song sounds SO similar geesh!

  • This is stupid, just because the chords are similar or whatever... doesn't mean shit. These songs arent even that similar. Paramore didn't do anything wrong, they didn't steal anything. Tenspoke Indies are stupid people for trying to sue Paramore. This is ridiculous. You dont sue people for kinda similar chords. Clowns....

  • @shia2113 Actually, you do. Chords and chord progressions hold the entire song together. It's not easy to create a chord progression that sounds good.

  • there are hundreds of songs that when put together and broken down like this sound similar. im sorry but tenspoke indies are idiots for trying to sue them.

  • @allsopp91 The chord progressions are exactly the same for fuck's sake -_-

  • no way. paramore rocks. tenspoke indies (who??) are just looser trying to feed on paramore's fame. go cry in corner.

  • Well they are nearly the exact same no doubt about it, but Paramore probably didn't realize.

I have accidently written a song that was very similar to another one without knowing.

  • I love Paramore. I mean I really do. But the similarities in the music are pretty staggering when lined up like this. I'm sure many will disagree with me but that is my opinion on this.

  • to all of you bashing the video, the person probably did it based on the fact that paramore is getting sued by tenspoke indies. i love paramore and tesnspoke indies, but you can't deny the similarities.

  • These songs are not equal. No doubt about it!

  • Why would paramore need to copy a song. They are talented songwriters and I think indies are jealous cow their song wasn't as successful as the only exception

  • first of all theres no pint in comparing the 2 songs, cause whos gonna copy a WHOLE SONG. thats the last thing a band wants to do is have the SAME IDEALS as another song thats how u get sued. if you copy a song its gonna be bits and peices and if its like that EVERYONE would be sueing eachother cause i know ALOT OF SONGS that sound the same in many ways... :] try harder

  • @MrOppsmybad No, you wouldn't. The chord progressions are the same for the entire song.

  • Diferentes!

  • Comment removed

  • Are different!

  • Isso ai pra bandinhas merdas que não fazem um sucesso ganhar dinheiro.

Nunca ouvi falar dessa banda TENSPOKE INDIES e muitas pessoas também.

Esses lixosos querem ganhar algo. Vão pioras a merda de carreira deles isso sim.

    Tem nada aver

  • Tenspoke it's just jealous because they dont have as much success as paramore, the only exception was written by hayley williams, she doesnt need to copy songs from others

  • But the build up to the chorus is common in today's music. You can't really count that as a similarity. That's a given. Actually, given these chords, half of the musicality in each song is a given..

  • *the vocal melody

the lyrics are so important in a song, and the lyrics have nothing to do each other.. thats all.

  • Oh God, Please!!!! there are a lot of songs with the exact same chords and tempo -.- de vocal melody is completely different and so are the lyrics... yes, the musics are prety much exact but thats also because there's some 'stereotypes' to do music... there are a lot af songs using: Intro, Verse, Chorus, Verse, Chorus, Bridge/Solo, Chorus... thats comun!! In my point of view, this process is stupid.. Paramore had a lot of sucess with the song, Tenspoke Indies not, and that motivated the process.

  • I like Paramore, but to me this sounds almost identical.... Sorry Paramore lovers on here, but no ones perfect. I think it's unfair to judge Tenspoke Indies when you know nothing of them?

  • At this point, all I can say is that people should educate themselves about what copyright laws are pertaining to music. Specifically the terms "substantial similarity." Infringement isn't just about exact duplication from beginning to end. Learn a little about song structure as well. A lot of opinions posted here would be changed once armed with that knowlege, instead of just reacting on emotion.

  • *researches Tenspoke Indies on Last.fm* 377 listeners? I highly, highly doubt Paramore had even heard of this band. And since the chords are fairly constant, it's no surprise the same progression had been written before.

  • Comment removed

  • Oh come on. 4 or so chords in each song, AT ONE POINT IN TIME a song is going to match another, and it has millions of times. Tenspoke Indies clearly thought 'Oh look lads, the chord sequence is the same, we could get good publicity from this...' I mean, as a musician, it's VERY hard to write completely original music anymore, there are hundreds of millions written every week with 4 chords so at least a quarter of those are going to be similar to each other.

  • Well If the songs weren't stopped randomly just to make the video the video lengthy it would be easier to tell if they were the same. Yes the songs sound similar, but Paramore write everything they sing. I've never heard of Tenspoke Indies untill now. But I don't think the song was stolen.

  • Comment removed

  • @outbreak1994 a band can't be gay, because gay isn't a description like stupid or dumb, it's a person's sexuality. i wasn't aware bands could have a specific sexuality..

  • sounds like a douette in the chorus

  • TENSPOKE INDIES GAYEST BAND EVER!!! PARAMORE RULEZ !!!

  • This is crap, paramore didnt steal anything these tenspoke indie babys need to grow up the songs sound nothing alike. They just wanted attention this is shit

  • ok i dont even like paramore other then there first cd but everything that can be done musically has been done, and i can garentee that the same chords and key is probably in at least 50 other songs tenspoke needs to just grow some balls and man up

  • Paramore is truly disappointing. This may be the only song I really liked by them, and to see this kind of undeniable proof... unbelievable.

  • This sounds like an amazing mash-up.

  • They don't even sound alike!:/

  • Paramore sucks

  • @sanounvonacopo Fuck you.

  • @thezombielovespie fuck you too :D

  • PARAMORE much more original

  • I think that paramore did it better.. and you know those songs that have the same tempo and beat, or the songs that use lines from other songs, how its all just a coincidence, and it really just made tenspoke indies a bit more popular, that all of these ignorant people are trying to make something out of nothing,. by the way.. these tenspoke indies people aren't as good of singers.. and their songs aren't as catchy.

  • they sound similar but i think its just a coincidence.

  • hahaha the two songs sounds great together lol

  • Comment removed

  • If you think the only exception is similar, listen to Paramore's 'MiracleOutro'. Just saying. Fucking love Paramore.

  • i love paramore but............they are pretty similar.

but it could be a big coincidence right? but having the same pauses and same solo times
