Betty did the hectic thing outstandingly because that happens to be what she fell into, but she felt (and she was right) she was a serious actress and serious singer. She just didn't get the opportunity that much to show her serious side.
Hollywood had some outstanding talent in the 1930's and 1940's ... Judy Garland, Lena Horne, Virginia O'Brien, Ann Miller, etc. but NO ONE comes close to Betty Hutton. She is simply the wildest, most wonderful performer I have ever, ever had the pleasure to witness ... WOW!
