  • Dr. Kessler is a real G

  • It's interesting to see how forcefully Maher tries to lead Kessler to make certain statements and to see how Kessler never takes the bait.

  • He reminds me of Marty Mcfly's dad from Back to the Future

  • I have such admiration for Bill Maher, and I generally tend to agree with him on most things, but you can see that he was trying to lead Dr. Kessler in such a manner so as to advocate his vegan/raw foodist agenda. Maher has been a long time spokesmen for PETA and considers meat eating some what immoral.

  • End of Overeating part starts @ 5:24 - excellent interview with good summary of book

Sugar, salt, fat combined with availability, color, etc and marketing - compared to nicotine

Neural activation and circuitry needs to be rewired via re-learning. This is why diets down't work unless we learn new ways to deal with being bombarded by the cues that stimulate wanting of foods. We have to be able to "cool" that stimulus by changing our relationship with food and the "value" of that stimulus

  • @8828114 That and will-power. Will-power is underrated these days.

  • yes close contact with animals causes disease, especially when you eat them... inside in your intestines is pretty close contact.

  • America was the testing ground for adding crap to the food and making people sick, unhealthy and fat. Americans are the guinea pigs of it all. Now that the experiment has worked, they're transporting those addictive food substances and junk food to other countries all over the world to ruin the entire population.

  • God forbid our food should be palatable!!! Let's stick to bland, flavorless low-fat "food". Its odd that fat only became a dietary villain in the mid 20th century!

  • @auggiedoggy It's about moderation. Fats and sugar are necessarily for the body, but we Americans have WAY too much of it, and way too much of it is processed.

  • The sugar as stimulant makes sense. Would you eat a sugarless donought?

  • kessler...grrr. your book is true. sugar+salt+fat=addiction.

but come on... its common sense. Americans don't have strong immune systems...if we ate alkaline foods..and did not constantly fill our bodies with prescription drugs..our body would be able to fight these types of virus. what drives this?

Americans are lazy and they don't want to take responsibility for their nutrition. I don't believe they even make connection between food and health. hellooooo people.
