  • In this film we see two instances of people leaving the tunnel from the western side which is totally illogical as it was towards the Americans. However in reality most of the battle took place on the hill over the tunnel and on its eastern side so this much may have a semblance of fact.

  • @alanheath

I don't know where you got the information that most of the battle took place on the hill over the tunnel and on the eastern side. That must be in your fantasy.

The attack began at 13.40. The first American soldiers reached the east side of the Rhine (not of the tunnel) at 16.00 and occupied the western tunnel exit. After he had ordered to stop the fighting commander Bratge and his soldiers were taken captive by the Americans at 17.30.

  • @varelion I am struggling with the name of the eye witness source which I may have to give later. I agree with you on the attack taking place during the afternoon, however the Americans attacked over the top of the hill taking the eastern end of the tunnel in that way.
