Yep, Dimmu Borgir is symphonic black metal but it doesn't matter i like it better that way. Only REAL black metal band i like is Immortal and Venom though Venom isn't considered true back metal, only starters of a genre along with Bathory. My point is i like them being symphonic and melodic, it gives special charm to black metal, rather then senseless drum beating and screaming like Mayhem.

Why does everybody say Dimmu sold out. They used a lot of mainstream elements on this record. Almost all of the songs have parts written in major modes. This is uncharacteristic of BM and is usually found in pop and new age music. They have not changed much. This album hit no. 2 on the German charts and 14 in the UK. They evolved, not sold out. Dimmu Borgir....sigh.... I LOVED this band, unfortunately, after Puritanical Euphoric Misantropia,(which I personally find the culmination of years of musicianship) it all went to hell for me...

@xchickenmanx exactly .... they made a really good artistic approach its just the votex and mustis leaving got me ... otherwise their new track is hardly worked on and is an orchestral piece ... very staisfyyng ... but .. i really miss the old dimmu ...

Why does everybody say Dimmu sold out. They used a lot of mainstream elements on this record. Almost all of the songs have parts written in major modes. This is uncharacteristic of BM and is usually found in pop and new age music. They have not changed much. This album hit no. 2 on the German charts and 14 in the UK. They evolved, not sold out. Fuck the haters who just want For All Tid and this album repeated over and over and over.

@bbeboutuaa I quite don't give a FUCK if they are not "trve black metal" as long are they're songs are good.See,this album is great,it might be lighter than usual black metal but it still has great agression,powerful blast beats,insane vocals,awesome melodies (piano and organ)and very good riffs.while that,their new album "Abrahadabra" has just weak riffs,who are covered by the abuse of symphonic melodies,and shagrath's vocals are just...bad,It has nothing to do with sell out,but with quality.

@bbeboutuaa Ha ha. You've probably forgotten about this comment by now, but I just wanted to say that I'm one of those folks that pretty much only like For All Tid and Enthrone Darkness Triumphant. It's not so much that I think they sold out though. To my ears it just sounds like they lost something after EDT. The passion wasn't there. So when I hear a post EDT track I can't help thinking "there's something missing here," even though the music is well done generally.

@jmatts78 See that is a well put arguement. You stated why you don't like the new stuff and even complemented it. I understand we all have different tastes in music and I respect that. I agree with you on the loss of passion but in my opinion it didn't happen until after Death Cult Armageddon. That's why I like Chrome Division a lot because there is an energy too it that a lot of bands can't achieve. Cheers from Alaska

@ikem555 as Slayer's Tom Araya says: "When I hear something that sounds good I'll put my religion aside" Music and religion don't have to mix with each other. When I play slaughter games and bully animals in the same time I put away my opinion that doing so is sick. The same way a christian can put his religion aside when he hears good music and likes the lyrics even if they are anti-christian. People usually take religion too seriously so I honour this christian who likes this :)

@ikem555 Well, it's your opinion then :) . Not that everyone should agree with Tom, I'm(and maybe many other human) just thinking the same way with him. Music and religion should be separated from each other. It's not so serious.

@XanaX93 ok fair enough except this kind of music is meant to tear apart religion. I mean in this song alone it talks about using the power of death to complete the infinite fall of heaven, these guys hate religion.

@fawncko I know this very well. So is Slayer. But still Tom Araya accepts it and thinks it sounds good to tear apart religion. Even as he is a christian. But he's got the balance just right. Religion isn't that serious. And I don't understand why it's so difficult for some people to figure it out. Even if they're atheists they may think it's ridiculous to listen to something that's against your belief. So sad. Come on, it's just a religion.

@fawncko and believe me, I could easily make a hating song about a subject that I love in fact. I love music but I could make a song where I sing how much I hate it and tear it apart. Do you got the point? If this song and the whole band imago is against religion, that doesn't mean that the members really think so. Maybe they have nothing against it.
