  • where's the mf fear

  • Spoilers deploy in flight. These speed brakes deploy upon landing to kill lift to put more weight on the wheels for better braking.

  • thank you!

  • Actually thats backwards.

Speed brakes deploy in flight, spoilers deploy on landing.

Speed brakes are the spoilers not fully deployed. Deploying full spoilers during flight would make the plane lose altitude very rapidly and apply too much drag to the wings which is bad for the plane.

  • @skykingjwc nice.

Speed brakes are used in flight to find optimum approach speed without decreasing power (while in flight)

Spoilers destroy lift after landing, weight of the plane is transferred to the wheels for easier braking

But, spoilers are used in flight for some planes for lateral control and aids in turning with the aileron (unison with ailerons) and some have even gotten rid of ailerons and use spoilers for roll control.

Small error in the video name

  • ...Otherwise, I commend you for you whole Fear of Flying course idea.

People are often afraid because they don't know what's going on. Your videos help to explain what's going on.
