Messier certainly was not fighting a lot at this point in his career....but if you read/listen to interviews with players from the 80's they talk about how nobody wanted to go toe-to-toe with Mess. Kaspar was an agitator (and a great one at that), but he was a guy who wasn't going to win many fights. This went back years with the Rangers-Isles rivalry, and as was usual for the time Mess got the better of him.

although kasper was sometimes playing to rough, most his hits were withing rules, like hit to the legs. Nobody does that today. It is truly Dynamo Moscow thing, if I am not mistaken Vasiljev was the won who did it, and younder Dunamo defender continue, and Kasper was the best. Hinestly I hate Messier
