GH in the 60's through the 90's had the best storylines ever!!!. Ever since then it has been going down hill. It has had some really good episodes but not as good as what GH was back then. Though i think BJ's gift to Maxie and Robin and Stones love story were my favorite
The storyline that the writers at General Hospital have currently implemented with Jake's expiration, and Josslyn's kidney cancer is similar to BJ, and Maxie's depressing story. They were trying to repeat a tragic plot from the early 90's with Jake serving as an organ donor. The daytime drama was so much more viable back in the early 1980's to the mid 1990's. Everything revolves around the Mafia now on the show, and it's like a deviated version of the Sopranos. L&L2 Fan. Thank God for the 1990's
That scene between Felicia and Bobbie is the best scene ever filmed on GH still. And when he listens to his daughter's heart beating on in Maxie....just still hard to watch after all of these years!
man i wish i had seen this when it first aired but i was like 2 but bjs transplant has to be one of the greatest storylines, along with stone, i wish gh was more like this now, lulu and dante annoy me
I remember the old Edward Q from the 80s. He was taller than this EQ and had a deeper voice with a saggy hound dog eyes. I wonder why they didn't really show him in the clips? He was the original Edward, right? This Edward is okay. I would always laugh when he would talk about Ned/EddieMane wearing those tight trousers singing on stage :)
Why does everyone keep saying they ruined GH over the last couple of years? What is wrong with it? Life changes, story lines change & I guarantee, this decade will be looked upon as wonderful & nostalgic for it's own characters & back stories in the future. Best soap by far...then & now!
@RachelETrapp I guess people miss the substance behind it all. GH back then had more heart wrenching deaths and classic love stories...now, not so much. It's all about mob wars now, and that's a fact...
@RachelETrapp acting was better, stories were more compelling, things were dealt with better, etc. it's pretty terrible now compared with the 90's stuff. it hasn't been the same.
When BJ died and Maxie got her heart is the most profound storyline ever on GH, and this comes from a die hard Laura fan. Bobbie and Tony found out immediately after he catches her "with" Damien Smith. JZ and BM were absolutely wonderful here.
This show is nothing close to the level it was in previous decades. Endless mob stories, unnecessary deaths, character disappearrances, and lack of respect for the show's great history. Apparently they are deliberately trying to kill off this show with horrible writers.
The storyline of "BJ's heart" is one of the most powerful and emotional storylines the soap has EVER done. It ranks right up there with the top GH storylines such as "Stone's AIDS" and "Elizabeth's Rape".
Looking at this and now seeing what GH is just makes me angry. We're treated to daily does of ridiculous mobsters and the bimbos who love them. Well I'm not cause I don't watch anymore.
1:36 "I'm a mother" and then 2:10 to 3:23 was by far one of the most heartfelt acting scene I had never seen. I miss when TV had something to say even in soaps.
GH during the 90's was quite possibly the soap's greatest decade! There were so many memorable characters and storylines: Stone's AIDS, BJ's heart, Elizabeth's rape,.......
@Maybach707 It clearly was the LAST decade of great stories and great writting. I donot even know thease people anymore and have a hard time wanting to.
You're absolutely right! I completely agree with you. The show is absolutely nothing like it used to be in the 90's. It used to have so many memorable and classic storylines.
I've been watching GH for about 3 years and watching the 35th anniversary special clips blow me away of how amazing this show is, but my favorite soap is One life to live
"not Barbara Jean's heart" and when she collapses.. brings me to tears every time. They really ruined GH over the past few years.. I miss the good ol' days.
@yeahyeahd That scene goes down in my book as one the best in daytime history. Now do you really beleive that this Felicia would abandon her daughters just a few years later?
@lpressman321 The writers really did Felicia a dis-service when it comes to the love of her kids. I just rewatched that scene and when I saw Felicia's face when she realized the sacrifice Bobby and Tony did donating BJ's heart, I started bawling...that scene is still that POWERFUL.
This is what is lacking on GH these days stories that come from the heart.Instead we are getting manifactured stories revolving around the mob.Saddly this is a fact that plauges the daytime industry as a whole.
@melissa762000 either the mob or stories that have been done 10 times like...who has the baby................. . And it wasnt even heartbreaking this time.

The scene where Tony Jones says good-bye to BJ was the most moving scene in the whole storeline. I remember being in tears because it was so sad.

GH was so much better in the 80's and 90's with heartbreaking storyline and medical issues.
the show how is awful. there is way too much gun shooting and mobster storyline.
they need to refocus on more medical and less guns.

GH was once such a great show. In the 90's GH did some of the best storytelling I have ever seen on TV. The acting was just WOW!

Gang fighting. or Hospitals, HOSPITALS.
Like seriously, it wasn't even sad when Micheal got shot.

I miss Alan soooo much. The show blew a chance to tell a good story that is not mob related.
Monica: It's my house!
Alan: I gave it to her.

back then, GH wrote storylines about the characters, they made the emotions and feelings real.....
nowadays it is just about flashy gun battles......its sad how the times have changed....
