the key to squeals like that are huge bends and good pick ups.u can also hit different notes on the same fret,it is a very small area i used different colored ink pens to mark my strings till i mastered it after some years

@ChrisMenchue It is called a Pinch Harmonic (also known as an: Artifical Harmonic). I'm not gonna pretend Im PERFECT at them but what u do is: Play the note as u normally would HOWEVER insted of just picking normally, you lightly touch the string with the side of your thumb.

wow they do have some sick pinch harmonics. A lot of bands fix them up real nice in the studio but killswitch NAILS them without any production. Anyone know any good youtube videos on how to do pinch harmonics like this? I always have trouble on the low e string. All the other strings I can do them no problem but with very thick strings i cant do it consistently. Thanks!

@GuitardedMark I promise you it's just a matter of practice, also bridge pickup setting helps rather than neck, cause when u select pickups closer to the bridge it allows for much more sloppy sounds, where as neck pickups are for more clear sounds, so neck pickups kinda like cancel out the squeals.

I've been using one for about 2 years now, and do not regret paying the 2k price tag. A highly versatile guitar, built for a more distorted sound, but can voice just about any genre with the right pick-up choice :)

Both of my guitars, LTD F-400FM and an ESP Eclipse SW, have EMG 81/60 pickups and I can never achieve those wild sounding pinch harmonics on the low E. I can squeal a little bit, but nothing like that.
