  • transcendent of pigeonholing. quickest sonic route to the core of my heart.

  • BEST SONG ON THE WHOLE ALBUM! need more of this

  • terribletimcom was here.

  • 2 people haven't got a lot in their heads ! ... Wayne

  • Pure genius.

A straight rockin' tune and then that little keyboard riff right outta Opie Taylors dance party on the old "Andy Griffith Show".

  • new wave

  • @301Pont they were newwave mixed with guitar rock, Elliot Easton and Benjamin Orr, thats what makes them innovative

  • @THECARS7879

Yeah, Ric Ocasek I still cant see writing ALL them songs by himself, Elliot seems like the type to make rock and roll riffs like this, and ric is a little more new wave and punk.

  • @natetheguitarkid Thats true they brought that up in that interview of theirs back in 2000

  • Wouldn't having alot on your head cause you to FORGET someone, because the lyrics go "I got alot on my head, to forget about you".

  • @natetheguitarkid I hear the lyrics as "I got a lot on my head....most of it's you". "I got a lot on my head....CAN'T forget about you"

  • the CARS aren't a pop band dude they never were

  • R&R hall of fame are corporate ran and they dont even know it!! The Cars should of been in as soon as they released there 2011 album. I think most of the idiots down there have only herd there pop hits. Well take another listen to Easton's guitar solos, then go buy yourself the Candy-O album, and then you'll know what rock and roll is!

  • @natetheguitarkid Your right but eventually theyll go in, all the bands that need to go in including the CARS, Yes, Rush, Motley Crue, Styx, Foreigner, Rush, Guns N Roses, Kiss, Blue Oyster Cult, and countless others

  • I got Trent Lott on my head

  • The CARS for the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame!

  • What can i say? i got a lot on my head! :)

  • I played this album so many times when i was young

hearing all these songs again gives me goose bumps!!

    The Cars were Awesome!!!!!

  • An all-time Favorite album ,,,, every bloody song !!!! Everyone down to the weirdest ......

  • @Drumguitarman

Dude I was just mentioning that to my brother yesterday. I do really believe this is the only Album where I have liked every damn song on it. ...Incredable!!! I am Super happy they did that gig at Live Aide where Ben Shined up on that stage just like the Star he is when he sang "Drive". I still get goosebumps watching that here, because it was produced so damn well. Later, Charlie

  • Most of it's youuuuuuu...send me a letter on a midnight scroll...so why am I sooo attracted to youuuu...I know it's good, but good isn't fair...how can I hold you when you're waving good-bye-bye...

  • The Cars Rock It LIVE! (77-87) Ben Orr's vocals are big part of it!

(Ben, you were taken too early - Miss You Ben)

  • Here's my dorky comment for you guys: 2 people are locked away where the silly boys go!

  • Hi Cars Fans! I am a big one, too. I have a silly question; I hope you can help me. I always thought that Benjamin Orr sang the lead in this song, but the more I listen, I'm not sure if maybe it's Ric. It sounds like a Benjamin song. They don't put who sang the lead on CD's....Thank you.

  • @JesusFreakJene maybe, some songs are hard to tell. I ll have get back to you

  • @JesusFreakJene Hey its Ric Ocasek and thought it was too. Ben Orr did Candyo , All I can do and Cant Hold on Too Long on this Album, maybe one more

  • @THECARS7879 Thank you for checking it out. The more I listen to them, the more I am hearing Ben's lead. The Cars Totally Rock! thank U

  • @rikkster100 you suk on youtube

  • Respond to this video... you suk

  • "Condition's red, desposition's blue." Awesome!

  • @imsmarterthanu97302 learn how to spelll

  • If I had to choose between a live concert of judas priest and the cars. Someone would have to put a gun to my head for me to decide! I shit you not i would say THE CARS before they could look at me, lol

  • Candy-O was straight-up genius! My 7-yr-old son loves it when I put 'Candy-O' in the CD player while driving somewhere....it makes me happy that he "gets it" when it comes to good music and not the garbage that is rammed down our collective throats today...talk about much better times!! wow....

  • The CARS are my favorite band !

  • @THECARS7879 they are the best in the time period, still listen to them at least once a day..................

  • Loved the cars from begining when the clash came out people said they would give the cars good competition. I disagreed, but whatever became of the clash?

  • @Billtrippin Wow!summer 1979, I read the Candy O review in a

drgstre. The owner and I swapped 3 albums to record.he gave me

Hendrix, Rod Stewart and London Calling, the Clash. There is a long DOC

on Joe Strummer on Netflix. The only thing that drew me away from The Cars,

was Cheap Trick at Budakan and I finally saw KISS, Nov 4th 1979. Denver.

    Thx for yoour post!

  • no wonder I played this alblum every time I got to pick!

  • vargas came out of retirement to do the cover; one of the best, if not the best covers, of all time. The model's name was actually Candy. Vargas did the cover when he was in his 80's. Hat's off to an old man with a paint brush and a hard on!

  • In agreement! This is the kind of music that will never be again 8(

  • yeeeow!

  • This is excellent.

  • The Cars had more hits then the heads did, 2nd after 40 hits as well and i can see it, They also sold more albums then the Talking heads did. the guy from the talking head , his voice is horrendous where Ben Orrs voice was dreamy , querky and incredible.

  • @THECARS7879...What the hell do the Talking Heads have to do with anything?

  • Comment removed

  • terribletim was here.

  • much like the Talking Heads, they were ahead of their time and very unique...no one quite like em!

  • @pbrick6301 and elbows and assholes are much like opinions...everyone has some, or at least one. And your's is just that....your's

  • @prober45...Opinions are like assholes. Everyone has 1 & most of them stink! :P

  • terribletim was here.

  • Is that hot babe off the cover of the album or something?

  • @AlienVisitor Yes that was the hot babe that was on the cover.Shes beautiful, which i think had a big influence on the sales of the album at the time,i know,i was one of them lol

  • @77pintoboy did you make it all sticky?

  • Comment removed

  • @77pintoboy I thought her name was Candyo

  • Thanks for posting these vids! I listen to them regularly.

  • The best. Lost a few 8tracts from melting on the dash of my 72 Lemans. Every song from candy-o is great. Ya gotta like the keyboard also.

  • @8tractlemans Well, well take it from me the best is to put a cd in and let the music go. have a 1978 Trans Am Bandit Edition & I play the Cars often here in Switzerland.

  • He ran over her because she's a ginger!

  • 'Got A Lot On My Head'. I guess the way music is today, it feels a lot both on and in my head of how today's music sucks.

  • @ScorpioBornIn69 most of it

  • @THECARS7879 At least 90% of it; lack of moledy, dull and bad lyrics and numberous remakes.

  • @THECARS7879 At least 90% of it; lack of moledy, dull and bad lyrics and numerous remakes.

  • @ScorpioBornIn69 i like Avril Lavinge, im admitting that. And the girl from American Idol, Haley Reinhart some more

  • This album and the debut album both just plain kick ass, pure and simple.

  • Hot babes and cars.

  • Rick pales to Ben- not even close

  • "How can I hold you, when you're waving good bye bye?"

    Classic =)

  • this is the best guitar solo ever!!!!!! love where the guitar is just that rip your heart out, whiny, mercy rock kinda thing. in the middle of the solo. and thats coming from a 12 year old! you can love em at whatever age your at. i like toda's music. but i love the eighties. wish i couldve have been a teenager. how exciting it wouldve have been compared to my boring life today. aw. the memories that don't exist.

  • breathe taking jam here. thanks for posting this album!

  • Soundtrack to my senior years of high school.

  • Candy-O is an awesome album! The Cars are one of my favorite bands... their music is just so vibrant, melodic, and powerful! Amazing, captivating and memorable music. This band is a perfect amalgam. I am glad I did not brush them off thinking they were just a cliche 80s band.

  • This is one of my favorite cars songs, THEY ROCK!!!!

  • any one here who takes the time to post something is a true cars fan rock on;;;;

  • I got alot on my head but I ;m here for the ride.....

  • listen too this in Jr High...from bawstin

  • How can I hold ya when your waving bye, bye, bye... WOOO! This song could wake the dead

  • CRankin freaking song. ONe of their best for sure.

  • Gives me goose bumps on my skin-skin!

  • This baby's on the way to my house as I type this. This album is a true classic and it does not disappoint in any way.

  • this is the shit...fast N fun........Boston band

  • I need to buy this CD. Quickly. Great rockin' to be had here.

  • The most famous song from this album was "Let's go," which was arguably the weakest (though, not weak) song on the record. That's how solid "Candy-O" was!

  • YOu got that right., The first two Cars albums are classics. They are even better with time than when they were on constant air play. Tendency to look at New Wave Bands as if the were vapid--that's about as far away from the truth you can drive (ha, similie intended).

  • WOW I used to play this AWESOME rocker countless times! I'd love to see a video of them doing it 'live'. What a cool cool song. You can't NOT get into it. Every instrument was always so strong, so sharp, so heavy. Easton is a very underated guitarist. He was great! They ALL were! Ben was so up front with his bass and vocals. He was not your background bassist. You heard him so clearly and cool. Everything was always so tight. That's why they were my fav. band in the 80's and I still love'em.

  • @ladybluluv

That was quite the endorsement! I will most definitely have to second that rave review. The Cars were one of a kind.

  • You always say what I wanna say, ladybluluv, lol.

  • @ladybluluv I agree with u lady... I too wish that there was a video of the CARS performing the song. Also totallty agree with the strength of the acoustics... And I DO GET INTO THIS EVERY TIME I LISTEN TO IT. Great Stuff !!!

  • @ladybluluv theyre my favorite band too !

  • @ladybluluv the sad part is they will never get into the rock and roll hall of fame

  • @soonerlover77 Yeah..maybe not...but maybe.

This may sound corney, but they always will be to me in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in my heart.

    Missing Benjamin.

  • @ladybluluv Hell yea, theyll be going in soon I think , look at al the artists that shouldnt be in there. Hell they have enough material to get in there.

  • The Cars, 6x9 mindblowers in the back dash. Yep, I'm still hooked.

  • Gee....I forgot about those speakers in all of those muscle cars!!! Never see that anymore!!

  • Does anyone know if there is a video of this song, I would sooooooooo love to see them play this song. thanks for any help. CARS FOREVER!!!

  • they were very underrated. I'd put them up against any band.

  • You are so right sphinxcol, the talent is lost today. They could sound as good if not better live and no frikin lip synching here thats for sure.

  • I saw them on this tour this was the opener and it friggin' rocked! Elliot was even better live!

  • You SAW them on this tour? You lucky thing! Yep, I was still 13 & dreaming up ways to sneak out to shows, with a military dad & the nearest concert venue 2 hrs away! I nearly got a chance to see the Stones (what I thought would be their last tour--HA!) at the Detroit Silverdome in '81 but was busted:

"Dad, can I go see the Stones?"

    "Who are you going with?"

"6 senior guys in a Suburban."

    "ABSOLUTELY NOT!"

    "But why...?"

    :)

  • CLASSIC song ...and album!!! Blast from the past...

  • Damn, this album rocks! I remember riding the bus home from school in junior high around Christmas time. Someone's classroom "Secret Santa" spent more $ than was allowed & got my friend Andrea this record. She was sooooo happy & everyone else was so jealous! She & I spent that night at her house listening over & over & over (and yeah, I had the major hots for Ben Orr...)

  • @Gnarlita2 sounds like me and my girls back then, we wore it out, and ohhhhh that Ben I would have loved to do the same too lol. Miss them all gaaawd!!!

  • man, I've been clicking on each of the songs from Candy-O, and it's really taking me back. I love it!!!! I miss my vinyl.....

  • Elliot Rules!

  • Man, remember when you could by albums and all the songs were great! Hard to do any more.

  • dude so agreed im only 13 but srsly

i rock out all the time i got alot of rock albums from all sorts of bands but i tried some of the new stuff not all of the album is good you go out and buy a pure rock bands cd and all the songs are kick ass!!!fuck rap <3 rock! ROCK ON
