  • this video is no lesson its just you showing off you doosh

  • This guy=god of bass

  • Love the sound of this Rick.

  • Model, brand and gauges of your strings?

I have a same Rickenbacker bass.

  • hey bro.thanks for the info. still I SAY YOUR THE MAN! lol peace!!

  • man this guy always have nice videos up loaded ,think about it,the bass he is playing is a collector bass. it look like the 30 yrs old model. and he makes it sounds better then some of the new basses.Peace !

  • Thx, and most of my basses are quite old, but this Ric is a 2004 or 5 model

  • @bassmanvic Old Basses we're made better. I don't think I'd buy a bass made after the mid 90's. All you're buying is a hunk of green wood!

  • kick ass rickenbacker

  • your lesson made me so interested with bass...

    I'm your big fans,marlowedk...

  • english fail

  • jajaja

  • raise your action bra

  • Give reasons why?

  • it was a response to someone's comment, not about marlowedk's video

  • I guess the most important thing is having brand new strings to get the best sound. thats my opinion.

  • Hey Thomas, How do you get your bends to be so fluid and perfect? Any specific exercises?

  • Haha yeah I meant a curved neck. It messes with the sound- but yeah if it's straight and has nice low action just find out which part of your thumb sounds best, which angle you wanna position it... experimenting and fooling around is what'll lead you to the breakthrough! I'm no expert but I really had trouble getting a clean sound when I started slapping too.

  • Make sure you don't have a banana neck too.

  • never knew the rickys have such a rich slap sound.. awsome bass!!

  • I am having the same problem, but I think its just my bass.

  • You might want to set up your bass,I personally prefer low action, which helps me to thumo and pluck.......

  • nice ric

  • Is there a slow version of the final part? I wish I could pratice it too! It soo cooolllll =)

  • hej :)

    - hvis du har det tab på computeren vil du så ikke sende det til mig?

  • rickenbacker 1984 punk bass awsome

  • its a rickenbacker, you must know nothing about basses, they are like the most recognizable bass on earth.

  • Right after Fenders standard body look.

  • ...and yes, I though that was Chris Squire dicking with me until I saw the glasses.....

  • Ricks rule! but what kind of T-Shirt should I be wearing to slap a bass?

    Good job.

  • hollyyyyyyyyshitttttttttttt nice basssssssssss

  • hello & great job men!! What type of "String" you recommend me to use for slap????

  • I haven't heard of a Rickenbacher in slap and pop mode...cool.

  • very nice! if you want a nice slap sound the best way is to set the bas amp eq (if you have one) to a sort of smiley face shape! lows up max mids down real low and treble up max! ;)

  • You have a great tone!

What settings/effects should I use to get a good slapping tone?

  • very nice tone. thanks for posting.

  • Rickies are not your best basses for slap.

  • That is a rickenbacker 4001. cliff burtons favorite.

  • 4003.

  • this is freakin amazin man, I'd love to hear you on a fretless bass sometime if you have or could get ahold of one to make a video with it

  • I'll get one at some point, but it's not high priority right now, I mean it wil probably only be for "bedroom" sessions :-D

  • nice crisp sound. Is that a mark bass?

  • i love your tone, what amp are you using

  • This is damn hard to me I have tryed but can't get it right how do that

  • i don't have control when i slap and pop. how do mute the strings?

  • Nice dude, sweet sound. When you slap (you dont have to, it works for me though) try and flick your thumb down onto the string, instead of moving your hand down too. Try it.

  • I like it. Very nice sound, are you using your thumb upwards also ?, hard to see. Keep on going

  • i have that same exact bass but i have trouble playing slap bass on it but you didnt great

  • you have an amazing wealth of slap lines in ur repettoire, i dig em. keep it up

  • fairly fresh roundwound strings, a lot of compression, all knobs on Ric full up

  • I could never get a good slap tone from my Rick but you certainly do. What is your secret???

  • very groovy sound. are you using some effects?

  • nice. never heard a rickeinbacker sound like that befor

  • Ahh, put some milk on that cereal because it's crunchy!

  • Nice very nice

  • the tone is really jazz bass like

  • that's the tone you generally get with 2 single coil pickups switched in parallel...

    yeah, great playing Marlowe !

that tumb pluck definitely requires a certain amount of hours to get used to...

  • yeah i know, its what stopped me from buying a 4003 and getting Jazz instead

  • Sweet work dude!

    Keep it up!

  • nice tone. great playing as usual.
