@loanusum You should try to find a Malmsteen strat and test play that first. The benefit to a scalloped board is that you don't have that wood underneath your finger so the string sinks into your skin more and some people like that feel of grip and control. The downside is that your touch has to be finer because you can make your notes go sharp if you press too hard.

By the way "Rising Force" was the title of a painting on the cover of one of Uli's albums(long before Yngwie used it)talk about infuence. So yes I agree Uli doesn't get the recognition he deserves!
