  • Yeah thats cool, but check this out. Yngwie.... boop beep bop...

  • I have to admit, he is incredibly skilled but i find his style so darn boring!

  • 1:06 He smelled a donut

  • And he does all of this with a cup of tea sitting in front of him. Yup, badass

  • It was sure nice of him to show us how to do that....I think I'll be playing like him in no time!

  • Part 2 of this lesson is played at regular speed.

  • from 0:02 to 0:05. thats how you play

  • To the lovely people who honestly believe Yngwie Malmsteen is a 'has been'.....

None of you know what the fuck you are on about, if you did, you would be publishing your reviews in various musical magazines instead of from your bedrooms with your pants round your ankles and blisters on your fingers from attempting to play smoke on the water using power chords shit loads of reverb and delay. Malmsteen is THE most creative and is a walking music theory library! If he don't know it, its irrelevant.

  • 0:02 the sound of that pick hitting those strings is delicious for the ears. I'm not talking about the notes I'm talking about the pick going "shicki-diggi-shicki-diggi".

  • @PeazyG420 shicki-diggi-shicki-diggi! k Lol i'm gonna remember that! :P

  • lol that was shit, god yngwie sucks balls

  • probably the most talented guitarist ever

  • @YaskoCrue lol you must be 12

  • @MetSkwisMaidlica you must be a 40 year old virgin, 15 by the way

  • he's ok but emulated by younger more creative players. he's a has been. he was original and groundbreaking for his time but done

  • @toejam498 groundbreak up your ass. Malmsteen still kicks ass and will forever! Its nice to see music pioneers still rocking. And more Creative?? Who the fuck is more creative by Yngwie?? Yngwie started neoclassical metal , and what has lets say alexi laiho done? Ah yea signature guitars. Reaaaaaaaaaaaally creative

  • @toejam498 C'mon who's better? If you say Synster Gates from that silly band Avenged Sevenfold ill kill a baby.

  • @ComsmicBoy hey now, sure yngwie is like 500x better than syn, you gotta realize syns the shit too, and a7x is not silly:)

  • Scalloped fretboard on the guitar, scalloped potatoes in the fridge?

  • Taking a cup of coffe like a boss!!!

  • Senin Allah'ına gurban İngve İngve!

  • I respect Yngwie greatly especially the stuff he did in the 80's and early 90's but why would you want to play this? It's part of his style I get it but it doesn't make you a great player to just play faster than a cheetah catching a jack rabbit while puking on a pile of shit.

  • the title should be "Yngwie Malmsteen shows us how to rip off classical pieces and only write backing tracks to solo over".

  • sick bastard!!

  • :05-:06 hahahahaha "nice"

  • First time I saw him playing in 1985 ! In this time his playing was a revolution ( similiar Eddie Van Halen playing ) ! He is a big master !!!!!

  • his accent is like slyvester stallone :)

Somebody gotta lock em up so they won't bite off the strings :D

  • Whoopty freakin' do, he can play fast. Listen to Richie Sambora play with all of his heart and it just oozes emotion. Then tell me who's better.

  • @CoryFinch88 As much as I like Bon Jovi, comparing Richie to Yngwie is just madness...Yngwie is the caliber of guitarist that teaches people like Richie how to play in the first place. No comparison. Something tells me Yngwie isn't much for teaching guitar though lol...It isn't like all Yngwie does is shred scales, doesn't take to much sifting through his material to find the good stuff. Brothers is a good starter.

  • @AIOICBigD You're both idiots comparing apples and oranges. One is technical, one plays with feel. Entirely different breeds of guitarists.

  • @MudTide1993 A little oversimplified comparison there.... Yngwie has a lot of feeling too.

  • ...boring

  • Love him or hate him, you can't deny his talent.

  • Blackmore was using scalloped necks in the early 70s

  • jameswcollett..........he does seem that way huh? I can imagine his answer would be - how can I be full of myself when I am the best? I personally think he's in top 10 but not The Best. But that's just a matter of personal opinion..........for all of us, right? All end with this - If I played like him, I'd probably come across as a conceited jerk to most people too. Ha

  • Never noticed till Youtube that he Scallops his fretboard. Any guitar manufacturers out there who set up their fretboards already factory scalloped to try..........before I'd have a guitar shop dig out my ESP's fretboard, I think I'd wanna be sure as no turning back after done. What are the bene's vs. regular fretboard....?

  • @loanusum You should try to find a Malmsteen strat and test play that first. The benefit to a scalloped board is that you don't have that wood underneath your finger so the string sinks into your skin more and some people like that feel of grip and control. The downside is that your touch has to be finer because you can make your notes go sharp if you press too hard.

  • I wish Malmsteen was not so full of himself. Or is it just his accent?LOL.

  • Is that scalloped frets?

  • @MrStefanSociety Oh yes, Mr Malmsteen was an early adopter of scalloped frets, I think.

  • It seems so easy for him :(

  • He's as good as he's fat.

  • @XxMeTFieldxX hes not even that fat in this video

  • @michaelbryant21 And it has got to the point where Malmsteen not being "that fat" is "good thing". Well, we cannot deny that the Big Man porked out but we cannot deny that he can play some tricky licks.

  • scale egpty, play much very fast...

  • @shellmusicvideos just harmonic minor. thats all.

  • oh my god..... yngwie knows his shit

  • Perhaps he should have said "I can do it up"... not "You can do it up".

  • what's wrong wity his guitars neck???

  • @TheActionst1 Do you mean the scalloped fret board or are just being sarcastic?

  • @TheActionst1 the wood is carved from them so his fingers only touch the strings not the wood its called a scalloped fretboard.

  • Good old Yngwie, the man is a god at guitar :D

  • Did he SERIOUSLY just say he was "so much like" JS fucking Bach. What a fucking loser.

  • @LemonCrushMusic no he didnt ...

  • @LemonCrushMusic I think he said he was "fucking jetlagged"

  • Watch this clip "Yngwie Malmsteen - I Never Played Hendrix Riffs (2 of 3)"

    Referring to Hendrix's music

"the music didnt influence me cause there was no music just noise"

I just pissed myself with anger

  • @kpatrickm That was my first response as well. But I think he meant that this was the first and only moment he saw Hendrix.....and that moment was just noise of the guitar being on fire. The fact that he didn't listen to Hendrix is very obvious in his retarded guitar playing by the way :)

  • @kpatrickm He's referring to the news clip he saw. Jimi was burning his guitar, so he wasnt playing. The noise Yngwie was talking about was the feedback from his amps. He never said Jimi's music is noise. He loves Hendrix's music.

  • the open thing reminded me of eruption.

  • He says, "On the album it goes something like this-" what song is he taking it from? Caprici Di Diablo?

  • @Megdidar From Unleash the fury album, track is Let the good times Roll

  • 0:05 ..... nice

  • is that a cappuccino? jesus christ i could use one of dem

  • when most other guys try to copy Yngwie's style they use double coil pickups and massive amounts of distortion to mask their sloppy play, all the notes bleed together so you cant hear any space between them or any mistakes.

  • = =

  • His left hand looks like it is being fast forwarded

  • hes just playing verry relaxed meanwhile doing some talking he is lord and master of guitar

  • Yngwie shows us how not to be relevant. Thank God for Guitar Player, Guitar Wanker, and all those ther magazines. My captcah for this post is "spigodgen".

    Spigodgen = Yngwie.

  • It must take the guy 20 minutes to put on all that jewelry every morning.. damn

  • When you up-stage Graham Bonnet when you're like 3 years old it gives you a big head...and your first piece of Gold.

  • PAUSE AT 1:06!

  • great title for the video lmao

  • The faster Yngwie plays, the more Gold that appears on him. In Part 2 of this video, he has turned into a block of gold, and can't play guitar any more.

  • @platriani No, he just bought a morph suit made of solid gold, plated it with gold, and encrusted it with gold.

  • @platriani Anymore? He can't play guitar now... :D

I mean other than minor and Jewish scale shreds of course...

  • FUCK....thats clean as fuck!! :o

  • ha cara num da pra deixar de elogiar esse cara grande inspiração

  • Jet lag...what a shitty excuse.

  • People comment that Yngwie is a jerk. Put yourself in his shoes where have grown men approaching him in a bad Chris Farley interview style asking him questions like "dude, do you remember that show you played back in 2000 at 4th & B? was awesome...so how do you play so fast like that?". Yeah, some people are a little more gracious in fielding lame comments but let me tell you Yngwie loves people, America, our Constitution and freedoms here. God bless Yngwie.

  • 1:04 - he was gonna play something else but then he smelled pizza

  • @ikepiggy and then they were forced to cut the video :P hhaha hilarious !

  • @ikepiggy lmao

  • @ikepiggy You mean cheesecake. Yngwie always need cheesecake!

  • The open string shit sounded soo good

  • greet song by malmesteen

    ANDAZ UZZAL

  • He's got speed but can he make a lovely slow solo to make a classic anthem ??

  • @09jaccles eeeeeemm YES ... can you ??

  • I DONT LEIK FUKEN DONOTS

  • Yeah he can play . . blah blah . . he's an ass though.

  • Still the best!

  • "I DONT LIKE DONUTS!"

    "He doesn't like donuts."

thumbs up if you caught Gangplank Marmoset on Vulgar Video (pantera)

Still a badass. Still a twat.

  • He didn't actually play anything that hard, IMHO.

  • I like to do what he does in the beginning a lot but I cant do it any other way

  • powered by McDonalds

  • how does he play with all that crap bouncing around on his arm lol

  • Possibly the most over rated guitarist around.

  • Cool, but can he not be an obnoxious twat??

  • so simple...

  • I used to be able to play guitar, then I took an arrow to the knee...

  • @eatmyfyre Two things.First: That joke is not happy, and it never was.

Second: When You play guitar, You don't even use a knee....so what is the point of Your comment?

  • I'd like to be a cup of coffee

  • I don't eat donuts!

  • see i understand that this is really difficult to do, and it would take me a long time to master these scales, but i also just dont have a desire to play them, i would rather play somthing with more feeling to make people go "wow, hes really got it doesnt he" as opposed to "wow hes fast"...idk thts just my opinion

  • scale scale scale scale scale

  • @MrJohnBernhoft i know u dont have it..hahahaha

  • @RockinRussClinicVids

    SPAM ??? On a encouraging statement ? SPAM !

Well that's just Ludicrous dude ?

    Spam ?

  • Probably the most aptly named video on Youtube.

  • Maan, respect to Yngwie, but this is sport, not music..

  • what is the name of that lick?

  • @Imartenal "Something on the harmonic scale" like his entire career

  • Basic youtube idiotism: if u dont like u gotta hate. Where's healthy and constructive discussion? Seems the answer is the third word of this post.

  • his voice sounds nothing like i thought it would

  • People who cannot play like him always resort to complaining about his tone or the color of his guitars!

  • Do any of you people who are bashing on Yngwie have any idea how much time and effort goes into being able to play like him.

  • Hideous guitar tone. I have no idea why he likes those off-white Fenders so much.

  • @BlargGargle U should go to library and read about human mind. Im sure u will find the answer. Oh and read also a book called: "Why I have to be a hating schmuck".

  • @Scumbot404 Okay, and I'll also be sure to get the book that explains the difference between dislike and hate. Seriously, my disdain for his guitars and tone reflects only on those things, not the guy himself nor his talent. You people look into things way too much.

  • its incredible.

  • Yngwie is such an asshole in real life. I get a chuckle now knowing he has arthritis.

  • @climbv15 Seems u are same what u said bout Yngwie.

  • Is he drinking... tea?

  • now if only he could show me how to change my under pants.

  • Now i'm just thinking , how can't he be tired of playing the same thing for 30 years? I mean he's good and all but for real, he has like 5 different things that hes guitarplaying evolves around!

  • @StandardiOrten *revolves

    -Courtesy of the grammar police.

  • god i hate his sound. He's good, but his sound sucks.

  • those fingers are ready to unleash the fucking burgers

  • the guy hes talking to is like yeah, yeah yup. lol i bet he doesnt even know what wingy is talking about

  • Notice how he holds his pick... not parallel to the strings but with a slight angle... I guess it's faster. Anyway, according to my learning curve I will be able to play like that in 40 millions years.

  • how about.... "Yngwie shows you how not to play guitar"?

  • I think he should have named it why nobody can play like yngwie

  • if u play this slow it sounds bad

  • So yngwie...

    You're a standard guitarist.

wanna be in my band big boy?

    *Sense the sarcasm*

  • I love how his right hand just looks soooo relaxing

  • Yngwie Malmsteen rocks

  • does anyone where i could get some kind of book, ot tablatur that shows his different excersises?

  • 0:04 He looks at his guitar like it was the instrument's fault for hitting the wrong couple of notes...

  • watch?v=C3Loh1kgHcI&feature=relmfu nuff said

  • when i started playing guitar i thought i would never be able to play like him. now i find him meh.

  • @diceasd yah i feel ya

  • Cool, but can he play smoke on the water??

  • @gabrielsg2008 asking him can he play smoke on the water is same as asking from adult can u make a sand cake.

  • @gabrielsg2008 yeah he famously learned deep purples entire catalogue by the time he was 13

  • @dobsonone u are briliant bro

  • @gabrielsg2008 no shit lol

  • @gabrielsg2008 Why yes, yes he can

  • @gabrielsg2008 see how stupid u are. hahaha. u can ask him to play anything, but who u are to ask him to play.

  • @gabrielsg2008 i don't know man, you really have to dig deep to find that kind of talent.

  • @gabrielsg2008 Who cares?smoke on the water sucks as song...by the way, there are some smoke on the water live recordings made by him...

  • @TimmyScandi Well nobody cares... It's just an old joke :P

  • @TimmyScandi Fail!

  • Yngwie Malmsteen: "well the pattern I use quite alot is, UHM, ofcourse, is UHM" (SOLO!!!!)... "which is...UHM" (SOLO!!!) " hgrj chasuit mnuiter, UHM" (SOLO!!!) "you can go up as well" (SOLO!!!) :))

  • All that dicks solos sound the same

  • @bitpaul That dick plays pretty damn well

  • DRRRR... Nice. lol

  • Easy.

  • Is that tea? I bet he also eats sushi...

  • 1:05 "Do I smell donuts?"

  • @Aeroforce743 hahahahahaha perfect!

  • i love this guitar tone... i hate his live one...too mutch delay..reverbs ..you know..

  • Fuck this is a good teacher... NOT

  • @mrmanynotes yeah but anyone who is advanced enough would be able to hear it in his music anyway i think

  • horrible teacher.

  • @mrmanynotes Yeah, man. I know exactly how this pattern goes now.

I mean - I can't fucking play it but I know how it goes.

  • Is he using an Eb min or Eb harmonic min scale?

  • @norsemayhem probly phrygian or phrygian dominant

  • hey guys check out my shredding it would be much appricated :)

  • Should we have a cup of tea, yes lad?=!?!

  • he was my favorite until I saw his lessons. He's just to much self loving guy who won't teach you his stuff so he could always be the best! :) no lesson he shows slow! best shredding lessons you can find to learn easy and fast are paul gilbert's and andy james ones! those will make you shred like badass in one week :-)

  • the man has too much bling

  • lol I love this guy...he's like "you see it's really quite simple" *Shreds at lightning speed* "and then from there all you gotta do is play it backwards" it's like wtf did you just do man?

  • @mr4y Yes Uli Roth came first in using clasical influences! But Yngwie was able to take those same influences and create a style that had a wider appeal. By the way "Rising Force" was the title of a painting on the cover of one of Uli's albums(long before Yngwie used it)talk about infuence. So yes I agree Uli doesn't get the recognition he deserves!

  • "im fuckin soo jet lagged" and yet he can still play like tht!!

  • It ain't that difficult...You can feel the difference when played on 4 strings! This video only shows 5% of YM's technical abilities!

  • damn the flame on that neck...oh thats a reflection

  • uu master like tea..
