  • gawd!!!1 he has gorgeous legs, face and a great bulge!

  • Jeff Lynne is the unsung hero...

  • ken nelson is my cousinnn so happy this video is here

  • Was that James Gandolfini clapping at the end?

  • Let's Get The Fatcs Straight Here People The Original Cast Songs Were Not Only Olivia Newton John ( who can eat crackers in my bed any day ) But The Soundtrack Consisted More Of ELO then Olivia She Sis What Maybe 5 songs in the whole movie the rest was ELO and Gene Kelly

  • This video looks good and promising for a preview of a good broadway show. However, it makes fun of Xanadu, and that is very sad. To have an actress mock Olivia-Newton John's musical talent and voice is wrong. I know the movie bombed at the box office but it did have its great scenes, and the musical should have made the broadway version as magical as the movie could have been.

  • @xanadu247 thats the point of the show to make fun of the movie itself and all theatre which is why the critics loved it

  • God he is so fucking beautiful.

  • AwEsOoMe

  • No shes not making fun of Olivia Newton John, but still, She sounds like a horrible, Nasal version. ONJ is a MUCH better singer than she's portrayed here.

  • 2:32

    what the hell was that

  • wow movie so much better

  • No, it's not.

This show got great reviews. It's actually making fun of the movie, haha.

  • Oh look! It's Broadway's Cheyenne Jackson! Anyway, this show is such a mess, but I love it!

  • only olivia and elo can sing these song

  • Love it.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • sell, i mean, sorry:P

  • i love love love cheyenne :) sighhh...

  • I LOVE HIM TOO~!!!!!!! Le Sigh........

  • I want to see this!! I kinda like how she sounds like if Olivia Newton-John were from the deep south, hehehe.... love it!

  • She would be a good Elle Woods.

  • she recorded some of the demos for it :)

and i agree shes so awesome!

    x

  • I just want to set something straight. I've seen so many comments talking about how "bad" Kerry's singing. This isn't how she really sings, she's imitating Olivia Newton- John. She can sing YARDS better than this. I just wanted to make sure no one wrote her off just from this performance.

  • Having seen Kerry Butler in Xanadu and also Hairspray and shop Little Shop of Horrors, she can sing wonderfully. But, please remember the she is working here as a comedic actress! I have no doubt the she will find her own "Bernadette Peters" role in the future!

  • @kyleorlando which hairspray and who did she play

  • @jerrybutts30 She was the original Penny.

  • @LaughXLiveXLove13 she's not doing a good imitation of Olivia. Olivia's voice is far better than this!

  • @aokay36 Long Live Olivia Newton-John!!!!

  • @LaughXLiveXLove13 If she's trying to sound like Olivia, why isn't he trying harder to sound like Jeff Lynne? If one singer is going to give a mimetic performance, shouldn't they all? I haven't seen the show, nor do I know much about the nuance and subtlety of Broadway parodies. All I know is what I've seen online; it looks like a pretty good show.

  • 3:26, LOVE IT!

  • I can't understand a word she's saying. Has she even heard the word DICTION!?

  • I love Kerry Butler in this! So sad it closed...

  • I love the choreography!! I wonder if Xanadu will ever come to Europe.

  • I wanted to see the play, but didn't get the chance. It looks like the stage play is played more for comedy than the movie. (I absolutely love the movie, by the way.)

  • Eh, I didn't like the main girl. Not a good singer.

  • yeah but few can really sound like Olivia

  • I thought her voice was good but she couldn't dance a step

  • I thought for a moment that they would play Rush's space-rock epic "Xanadu" during the parade

  • horrible

  • omg cheyenne is sooo cute when he dances!!!!!!! he wiggled his butt!!! <3

  • I know..Cheyenne Jackson in cutoff shorts, wiggling his hips :p *sigh*

  • what the hell are all you talking about.?!? I saw the movie in a theater and i don't see what all the hype is about?

i love E.L.O. but am not a fan of the movie.

    sinn

  • Few people were a fan of the movie, but the soundtrack was a huge success spawning radio play for at least five of the songs.

The play takes only the basic outline of the story and then pumps it up into a great staqge show.

  • @sinnspenn The movie was awesome!

  • I can't wait to see it in Chicago in January. Max Von Essen is in it as Sonny, and I'm excited about that because I wanted to see him in "Dance of the Vampires" until some people screwed with the story and it failed.

I wish I saw it with Curtis Holbrook as Sonny...he's so cute!!!

  • I'm very excited about Max von Essen as Sonny! I saw DOTV twice and he was just great in it.

  • To be honest, I'm hoping to miraculously get money to go to Germany and see that show as well...although I hope it doesn't disappear before I get the fundage....

  • The show close this sunday. They moved it up.

  • can anyone tell me what street this was done on?

  • Probably Broadway or 34th

  • It's September 2 as I make this entry, so that means that the 2008 edition is just around the corner. I am looking forward to it.

  • their last show is november 6th at 4 o'clock

  • where did u hear that??

  • are you serious?

  • The last show is Oct. 12 :P

  • i'm so excited.

  • haha i know cheyenne's an actor, but dont you think it would be kind of awkward when they kiss? cuz he's gay.. just saying. but I LOVE XANADU! i saw it yesterday :DDDDD

    i saw it with kerry's understudy :(

but she was JUST as amazing so it doesn't matter. and was soo pretty. and curtis was just adorable as sonny :) but cheyenne.. omg. GORGEOUS.

  • cheyenne is soo prettty :/

  • They must be really cold!

  • when ur dancing the cold is very refreshing

  • They must be FREEZING!

  • This looks fun! That hissing thing she makes at the end of that song rofl! Their costumes are very flattering

  • KERRY,is just sooo amazing!

  • i luv kerry and cheyenne, they are awesome. i have seen it 3 times already and it couldnt be funnier

  • i met cheyenne jackson after a show of all shook up and got a picture with him--he is soooooo hot!!! he voice is ah-mazing, and look at those LEGS!

  • I knwo rite!!!! hes so hot!!!!

  • lip sync fo show...

  • i actually don't think Cheyenne has a very cute face, but holy crap those are some amazing thighs! He could probably kill someone with those quads.

  • sexy!

  • I LOVE CHEYENNE SO SO SO MUCH...!

    AAAHHHH!

His vocals are just absolute pure gold, and he is just so stunningly beautiful. He amazes me.

    <3

  • Rock those short shorts, Cheyenne!

  • the guy at the end clapping mustve been thinking "this is the gayest thing i've ever seen in my entire life." Hotness.

  • I think that was James Gandolfini haha (aka. Tony Soprano)

  • Kerry, marry me!!!

  • Kerry, marry me!!!

  • Cheyenne is so Hot I want him Soooo Bad.

  • yes!! he rocks!!! i saw the show back in february and i totally loved him!! hes is soooo hot!! im going back this summer to NYC and definetly going back to see xanadu!! :)

  • Holy nasal vocals, Batman!

  • No, that's just the tone of her voice.

  • lololololololol rotfl

  • 2:34 "for YOUUUUU" she hisses into his mouth.

    PRICELESS

  • It sounded like steam escaping. LOL

  • that's the best part of the song =D

  • Cheyenne is mega fine

  • he is mega gay too.

  • ive just booked tickets for july hope is good! got a good deal-60 a ticket.

  • In July, Cheyenne will be out doing another show and Curtis Holbrook will be replacing him. Not sure how he'll fill out the shorts..but enjoy!!

  • Cheyenne is only leaving for a month top do Damn Yankees.

  • Xanadu is an awesome musical, livvy and kerry are terrific!!!!!

  • She's got a sweet voice! what is her name?

  • Her name's Kerry Butler. She's got such a sweet personality to match the voice, nicest woman ever with AMAZZZZING talent

  • I'm sorry but EW short shorts are a no no.

  • The shorts are from the movie. also that dude is friggin hot.

  • well it was set in the 80's

  • Congratulations to the Kerry Butler and the cast of Xanadu! Four Tony Award nominations including Best Musical and Best Leading Actress in a Musical!

  • She make a great Kira.

  • OK that's a funny musical...but...i still prefer the movie...those cheesy 80's!

  • i saw it on broadway it was magic!

  • I just saw the show tonight (well technically last night because it's after midnight), but it was so AMAZING! I had on-stage seats and it was just so good. Kerry Butler was on fire, there was only one understudy, Annie Golden, who played all of Jackie Hoffman's parts, but Annie was amazing!

Everyone should she this show, it is so good, words can't even describe it!

  • the bf and i saw the show last night, FridayApril 4th and it was enchanting and whip smart and funny as hell. cheyenne jackson was a total dreamboat and kerry butler was the campest (funniest) actress i think i've ever seen - huge props to them both.

  • I WANT THAT DRESS!!!

  • It is a great show =D and it's actually red, but it does sort of look pink there, haha.

  • Looks like a great musical.

Don't like the fact the guy's shirt is pink; but whatever floats his boat.

  • Who did Chyeene Jackson replace meaning he took over for someone at the very beginning and they decided to keep hm

  • James Carpinello who broke his leg in rehersals.

  • kerry seems like she's got a celine dion and olivia newton john vocal mix! It works great for the show - she's an amazing performer!

  • I went with my friend Lisa last October and we had onstage seating... it was a MAGICAL experience. Go "Xanadu"! :D

  • what was the first song they sang

  • That song is "All Over The World" original performed by ELO from the Xanadu film soundtrack. It got a lot of radio play back in 1980.

  • I'd like to see this show, but already I think the best thing about it is it stirred interest in the movie(which I adore).

  • the songs were okay but the the main guy's shorts are WAYYYYY too short. this show must be awkward for straight guys.

  • Actually, it is a period piece set in 1980, so the shorts are exactly the right length. And besides, there is a line in the show about it being children's theatre to gay guys.

When I saw it, no straight guys stormed out in ahuff because there was a hot guy on stage in short-shorts.

  • The show was great! It was one of the funniest I've ever seen!

  • MMM i dont know i want to see this musical im satraight, and i dont think people should think of a this as for women or gays only not for straight men. Yet seeing our society kind of stereotypical i dont blame the guys they must be affraid of judgement or something.

    No?

  • shorts can never be short...look just fine to me!

  • what is Xanadu about??

  • Pay attention to the video at the beginning. The hosts here explain the plot.

  • It's a really cute story. Keira, the muse, comes to Earth as an Aussie rollergirl, but she's never been human before so she's not very good at the accent.

  • umm, yeah guys it is a joke its poking fun at the original, as well, Kerry Butler is imitating Olivia Newton-John(and she sounds great anyway) aside from that, obviosly the stage production is no where near worse than the original 1980 movie, one of the top ten worst films ever by critics[i love the original] and the original had hooooorrribbblllleee reviews while this on Broadway has amazing reviews

  • ijust say the play and it rocks ! I heard the oringanl was very bad

  • I saw the play, not the parade and the play was TERRIFIC. standing ovations. it is not "art" but a fun evening and totally unpretentious and totally fun.

  • this was hilarious! i saw this in new york on wednesday and loved it! it was so funny. and she actually does have a good voice. other songs she sang in xananu were amazing!

  • The man has an amazing voice!!

  • That man has an amazing everything!!!

  • PEOPLE!!!! Shes suppused to sing this way,so dont hate because no mater ho good you think you are, well you simply are not.

Not that I'm saying I'm any better

  • Wow... this is bad. Yikes.

  • ur so right!

  • See the show before you form an opinion! I just saw it and I hadn't had so much fun at a broadway show in a long time. REALLY good show!

  • ummm her voice is not awful. shes imitating olivia newton john. she has a gorgeous voice. the fact that she can put it on every night and not hurt it is amazing. seriously, if you saw the show you would adore it. dont bash it till you've seen it.

  • Less than 9 months until the 2008 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. 3-1-08

  • Ugh, the girls voice is AWFUL !!

  • Pretty darn bad....

  • Is this some kind of sick joke?

  • OMG, my boyfriend took me for Valentine's Day. It was so good. The songs in the middle of the show are not that memorable, but the opening and the end are so feel good, you just want to dance. And the comedic leads were just that.....they stole the show!

  • I can't understand what she's singing... I usually love her voice and when she sang sudden;y seymore she gave me chills... but this? where are the consanents in the words?

  • the 80's came back with a vengeance, eek. XD At least The Little Mermaid isn't the only show on Broadway with roller skates or Heelies

  • Sorry, I could do better. I'm not being conceited either -- her voice sounds weird and NOTHING like the original movie. WTF. I'm just sad. Another musical messed up like that? Are they lipsynching????

  • yes, every performace in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade is lipsync

and she's not really supposed to sound like the original movie

  • how bad is the view if you get on stage seats?

  • Not bad at all, and there is interaction between you and the cast memebers! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I saw it this past Tuesday and am going again to see it from Houston, it's that good!

  • i saw it on roadway and sat like on stage it was amazing! lol--and "kira"s australian accent is hilarious lol

  • I would love to see this. i wish it would go on tour.

  • I get to see XANADU next Tuesday, traveling from Houston to see it! YAAAAAAAAAAY!

  • kerry is an amazing singer but this play does not do her justice.

she doesn't sound like herself & her voice is normally extremely BEAUTIFUL.

    she just sounds okay here.

  • what is this!!!!

  • I REALLY want to see this on Broadway! I just bought the soundtrack on iTunes and it's great!

  • Just saw the show on Broadway. It was so good. I can't wait to see it again.

  • Kerry sounds kinda drunk. I have noo clue what the heck she's saying. No offence

  • I saw Kerry live on Broadway in Little Shop. She was amazing. It was the last show I wanted to see, but it was worth the money.

  • this is possibly the funnies Broadway show I have ever seen! GOOOO KERRY AND CHEYENNE!

  • Doesnt anyone esle think she is way too nasal in her voice- Olivia rules this sucks I would be disapointed if I paid to see this

  • I think that might be the point. It is explained earlier that "Kira" inexplicably must dawn on an Australian accident on order to sound more "modern." She's ment to sound a bit off.

  • YEY PATTI!!!!!

  • I love the accent

  • The movie sucked, but this looks great. I love the music

  • I loved the show. I went to see it on my birthday. I am planing on going back and sit on the stage.

  • I'm going to NYC just to see XANADU for 1 day!

  • ...i wish they were singing live.

  • They still did a damn good job, it is probably harder for them to lipsync.

  • they didn't lipsync, the sound was unsynchronized to the video, it was like that during the showing of the parade as well, they've done that with every live performance now since the Janet Jackson incident at the Super Bowl

  • the growl at 2:33 is hilarious

  • exelent! i love this musical

  • You Know they Have to be frezzing

  • nope.

it was like over 60 degrees on thanksgiving.

  • Cheyenne Jackson is the reason I'm obsessed with Xanadu. He's so good!

  • This looks like lots of fun....camp at its best!

  • There's is absolutely NOTHING wrong with this performance.

The only problem is that this show does not work out of context. It's a spoof!

  • Where do I start? No, Xanadu wasn't some high quality epic movie but the soundtrack was great and this chick butchers it with authority. "Faaaaah yaaaaaaaaa" WTF??? As if the singing wasn't bad enough, she keeps flashing the crazy eyes as though she's about to go into a murderous trance and stab him.

  • its camp, shes suppose ta say that. the director thought it would funny to have that in magic. and she has a great voice, she was nominated for best leading actress, so it seems that the critics seemed to think that she is good, and some people think "Faaah Yaaaa" is funny!!

  • This is ALMOST as bad as the house called "Xanadu" that used to be in Kissimme in Florida (on the 192)

  • Thank you for posting this.

  • i really want to see this

  • Look it`s Deidre! ;D

  • I can't get enough of that guy in the shorts. Yummmmy!

  • That guy would be Cheyenne Jackson.

  • I couldn't tell if she was purposely forgetting the lyrics / giving the crazy eye / doing that freaky "for you." I have to see this play just to laugh the whole way through it.

  • Everything was on purpose... it's totally tongue -in-cheek, except the lyrics part (which I didn't notice). I've seen the show twice and will see it again happily.

  • yes it was on purpous.

  • Seriously, we're was Jackie! But Kerry and Cheyenne, you're beautiful.

  • A Movie Dearest blog featured video. See my profile for the link and playlists!

  • uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh so good.

  • This is just comical.
