This scene is a killer - the recitative goes on for some time, then stays without bass line for the solo soprano voice. Anja does a very fine job, so did Arleen Auger previously.

Am afraid Didonato is not on par with either Harteros or Auger in this role, being a mezzo.

She missed out all the devilish high notes in the coloratura of the aria.

I have seen Anja Harteros live in Munchen in Alcina in 2007, and it was absolutely superb. She was accompanied by Vesselina Kasarova as Ruggiero. It is great to see that she was successful with this role. However, Catherine Naglestad seems to be unsurpassed for this role.
