  • watching this on hd 6850

  • can you put it in a dell laptop windows 7 im a noob when it comes to computers

  • @Lufios look at the size of the card and you tell me

  • @Lufios I'm afraid it's a big no no in laptops. Sorry.

  • @Lufios you cant put any desktop graphics card in a laptop. they make special mobile versions to fit in there, but for reviews on those, you need to visit notebookcheck(dot)com

  • @NoodleTheSlayer gts 250

  • 3870X2 overclock is like.... 90-100C?

  • @nelizmastr no problem my stupid simens laptop goes 100C when im running games and he has the 3870 x2 xD

  • card is sooooo OLD !!

  • @ThePenguinProduction

yeah, maybe 'cause the video is over 2 years old.

  • @ThePenguinProduction yea good fuckin comment dumbasss

  • coolers looks like boobs

  • @monimoni0147 haha how the hell can u see that???? cuz u always think about boobs! perver! :)

  • INSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANE

  • it's FAAN-tastic!

  • not cheap :P

  • 5970 in crossfire i guess is better !

As owner of two 4890 sapphire OC EDITIONS

  • lol? ofc? XD

  • @kidowner

lol ofc... do you think they meant oc? or ofc lol...

  • whats better this or two 3870's in crossfire?

  • it depends, in some games two 3870s is a bit better and sometimes not, i myself am a owner of two 3870's

  • FANnominal

  • In this case ATI>Nvidia

4 Display outputs on one card?

    ATI FTW!

    kp

  • @kpappletech so much for eyefinity!

  • GeForce > Radeon

  • world of conflake

  • shut up.

Even my 2600XT does 35FPS on a mix of High and Medium on Crysis @ DX10 1280x1024.

    Vista x64.

    Not even overclocked.

    And it runs that well...

    ATi FTW!

  • can the component connections display 720p?

  • no, only 1080i (not 1080p) but is similar to 720p.

  • how much is this bad boy

  • like 280$, but DONT GET IT. If you want ati, get a 4870. if you want nvidia get a gtx 260 core 216. they cost like 130$ less, and perform the same.

  • no GTX 260 Core 216 is just over $200

  • they're like 170 with rebate on newegg

  • this is not for sale anymore, so settle down kids get a 4870x2

  • used? and shops that sell old stock

  • THATs one insane looking card

  • uhh it's mroe htne the 4870 X2

  • yeah, should run fine if its a good psu ;)

  • you dont get the full FPS tho do u?

  • I think the lowest is 500, im using a 700w because iv over clocked mine

  • No way Killerman778 you probly wouldent even start your pc because you wouldent have anough power

  • dude im using a 1tw psu for a dual card set-up+ extras.

i dont think you can even get 100w psu's anymore.

even my old agp system has a 480w

  • I got a 730wat for 80$ great deal.

  • yes but is the power supply a good PSU. I mean they make 900 watt PSU's that cost 30 bucks that really out put like 300 watts under stress. I just bought a new Corsair TX 750 Watt PSU for $120 bucks after rebates, originally it was $184.99. Usually you want to look for the Efficiency rating of over 80% along with SLI or Cross Fire qualified and a strong 12V rail thats high in amperage. Mine actually distributed through a SINGLE 60 Amp 12V rail which increases stability 10 fold over having 3 or 4

  • I got a 750Watt PSU for £38

and that was the silent and cool version

the normal one was £27...!!! :O

but I guess yours was a modular one, mine wasn't

  • where the heck u got a 38 GPB one??

  • GPB??? Make???

    The make is CiT.

and it's hardwired, it's not modular.

  • did i say "make" in my post? :S GPB is the england money

  • Oh, LOL

    Yeh, GPB, yup XD

    Sorry about the confusion.

    but yeh it wa £38.

    I got it from Play. c 0m

  • nice

  • FANtastic

  • fanFuckintastic

  • 4 DVI Display Outputs?

    Thats nuts

    kp

  • So you need two cables to power it and they give you one for a start lol. Typical.

  • forget about it you need 700W

  • 3870 is good where not all rich idiots ok we can only aford what we can afford bottom line saved up money to get a 3870 or 9800 and ther not dated cards ok they still kick ass and the pirce for them are just rigth

  • This obvioulsy TRASHES 9800GX2 and 9800GTX

  • hy is the Ati Radeon HD 3870 better then the Geforce 8800 GT ? and a 500 W power is good?

  • yes, but they are both dated cards. look at nvidia 9800gtx or gtx260 or ATI 4850 or 4870 for a more futureproof and cost efficient solution.

  • I think this one costs only 200$ now.that's what I toke in the PC I bought last spring.Great deal dude.Never had problem with it.The drivers are way much better then in the time I was using a 9800 PRO.

Now I'm wondering if I should get a second ATI 3870 X2 for more power.Would it worth?

  • OOOH YEAH! Yes it will... You'll get about 80% performance increase in crossfire but will loose mulit monitors (incase you didnt know) :(

  • Thanks a lot for ur advice.80% more is interesting but frankly for now I don't see what I'm not able to do with this for a gamer like me.

But I didn't know that I wouldn't be able to use a second monitor which I do.Just the VGA cable costed me 50$,In this case I wont buy another.thanks a lot for ur informations.

  • You cannot beat a dual slot cooler that expels heat OUT THE BACK!! i cant stand it wen air is circulated back into the case

  • ya it's nice but really expensive $379.99 but it comes with grid game.

  • 4 DVI PORTS?!!!??

    thats just sick.

  • lol "fantastic" 0:06

  • wow this makes me feel really bad about my 128mb integrated graphics accelerator lol

  • Fancy

  • LOGAN IN MY HEART 4 EVER<3!

  • which card is better at 1680x1050 or lower res, a 4870 1gb gddr5 or a 3870 x2 overclocked 1gb gddr3??

  • Definitely 4870 because of the GDDR5.

  • what is ddr5??

  • go for the 4870, mate. its faster and newer. or, wait a month or 2

  • look bith

  • i wonder if i could remove that cooler and stick it on my 4870 X2

  • u can just buy the cooler ya nub

  • haha, first of all i was just just kidding to show how good the cooler looks, secondly, it seems that ur the noob, the spacing of the GPU's on the 3870X2 and the 4870X2 are a few mm's appart, so it using it on a 4870X2 wouldnt be recommended...

  • This card is overpriced get a 4870 it's faster/ALOT cheaper

  • I have a question... I bought this card and when finishing installing it and run DXDIAG i got only 512 mb memory for video... Did i do something wrong or this is just normal? Do i need to tweak something? And how would i know if Crossfire is working??? Please i'm a newbie! By the way my specs are Gigabyte x48-dq6, Intel Core 2 Quad overclocked by 2.8Ghz, 2x2Gb Kingston DDR2 Ram...Tnx

  • Lol either ur m/b dont support it

    or

IT DOESNT MATTER ITS STILL RUNNING UR GAMES over 30 fps with max settings

  • Not at all you have 512mb per core. 2 cores 1024mb total.

  • That a duo-orb or two VF900's?

  • I WANT THE FUCKING 4870 why do they keep makign new ones like every 3 months i have to keep buying new ones i have a 3870

  • yes.

but a overclocked GeForce 9800GTX2 smacks the giraffe out of that ...

  • The 9800GTX2 doesn't exist buddy. I think you mean the 9800GX2

  • can my nforce 4 ultra motherboard run it and what power supply do i need for it i got a 600

  • wuts the price? and would it be possible to include that in future videos?

  • Just get two HD4850s, it will be way better.

  • The reason they don't say the price in the videos is because prices are always subject to change. It's $399.99 currently at TigerDirect. If you plan on using CrossFire, as someone else said, it would be better to get two 512MB HD4850's for about 2-cents cheaper. Though if you really want this to go for the big 4GB CrossFireX deal, I'd say get it(well, I'm pretty sure you can put 4 in, but don't hold me to it), or perhaps wait until ATI makes a 1GB HD 4870(maybe, too soon to tell).

    -Casey Cannon

  • well... ive found it at $160.00, so i suppose thats an awesome deal lol, havent got it yet, not goin to until i upgrade my motherboard, but yea im gettin that deal! lol

  • gddr3 cant you guys read?

  • gddr5?????

  • 4870x2 in one month! GDDR5!!!

  • what? GDDR5 ?!?!?!

i know that it is high... but since im fairly new to the hardware stuff, can anyone tell me what do those ddr and gddr thingies mean? and do u need a new motherboard if u want to upgrade from 4 to 5?

  • all the differences are is speed and price. the difference between gddr and ddr is that gddr is graphics ddr. DDR5 DOES NOT EXIST. dd3 and ddr4 are roughly the same speeds but different power usages and prices. ddr is a kind of ram and it is not on the mobo. so stick with 3 for now if you arent donald trump.

  • if i have a 790i ultra motherboard, does any gddr fit? if u cant find the comment, you can PM me...

  • yeah im waiting for the 4870 x2 as well.

  • gddr comes on the graphics card, you can't buy it seperately.

  • no.. recent grpahics cards are pci x16 slots..which is what the 790i has and the other recent boards so u can put any graphics cards in there as long as they are pci x 16 slot. But the memory slots on the 790i is ddr3 ..whereas the older mohterboads is ddr2..but u cant put any ddr2 or ddr1 on the 790i, only ddr3 will work...but this is only memory

  • Wow! This video card is impressive jaja

if it were not a lot of trouble I could summarize some of what they say in Spanish.

Beyond that aunq not understand much I feel great and have all my apollo.

I recommend that board for this videocard

    thanks

  • this card is for the ladies, take a look at those tities

  • mine :D

  • getting this!

  • is that thing gonna make my comp hover? oh and whats the power supply for that thing?

  • FEAR likes multiple GPUs :X

  • EVERYTHING likes multiple GPUs lol

  • It looks like it has dual propellers for lift off.

  • ;DDDDDDDDD

  • OEM version of the thermaltake duorb

  • Can you translate that into English?

  • thermaltake makes a GPU cooler called the DuOrb..look at their website..the heatsink/fan on this card is a modified version of it.

  • Yeah , copy of the Tt duorb but no LED .

  • How long is this card? The retail card with its retail cooler is about 13" long, but what about this card? It looks like it's about the size of an 8800 GT...

  • ya this specific card is different, it looks smaller cuz the other 3870x2 versions have the huge heatsink on them, this 1 has 2 fans

  • Where can I get another 6pin PCIexpress cable for this card online? I live outside US :S

  • there is a bunch of reviews for this summers ati hd 4 series, some are arguing that they are fake reviews and benches. The reviews r saying the hd 4870 is faster then the 9800 gx2.

  • It's not, dont be stupid, 4870 is a mid range card and is not intended to take on the 9800GX2. It probably wont even be as fast as nvidias new card that releases like two days later (or before). ATI's whole strategy is price, the 4870 is supposedly going to be $200 and its about 25% quicker than a 9800GTX. The 4870X2 that comes out in august is ATI's high end card. But like I said the 4870 is not supposed to take on the GX2, if it does then there will be riots to get one :P

  • Ya I agree an HD4870X2 being faster then 2 9800GX2. ATI is going nice now. I own a HD3870. Hopefully ATI prices right like they always do.

  • thats the fastets thing around no?

  • can these cards hit over 900 core clock and 2000+ memory???

  • Yes. I did that with Rivatuner, just make sure you bump up teh fan speed ;)

  • can I use this card in a apple mac pro

  • if it has enough room in the case and if it has a pci-e slot and enough powaaaah!!

  • q9300's better for not much more money

  • Could somebody help i am contructing a new system and i don't know what to pick 9800 gtx or 8800 gts or 8800 gtx or 8800 ultra or hd 3870 x2

for nvidia cards i am going to buy asus striker II extreme and for the ati i am going with p5k3-deluxe pls help!!!! :'(

  • Get q6600, striker extreme with 3x9800gtx in sli and at least 800W PSU - around 1500$

  • the thing is that 3870 and 3870 x2 is made to have better performance with 790 chipset 20 to 26 % more performance, they benchmarck the cards in motherboards for intel but run much better in spider plataform.

  • You shouldn't compare dual gpu cards to single gpu cards. 9800GX2 owns this card day and night, that's a fair comparison.

  • See there are some benefits of ATI

They are leaving out performance, but they have better video quality and CrossfireX.

I had 8800GT and i had ATI 3870 and i see better textures with 3870. As an example is smog and explosions in games. You will see much more of it in games with ATI cards.

  • Yes and no. In terms of performance the Gx2 is a stronger card, but in terms of cost, 3870x2 owns. Check newegg, the price of a Gx2 is about $550 while the 3870x2 is about $350. You could almost buy two 3870x2s for the price of one Gx2.

Don't forget, that Ati was the first to create dual GPU cards starting with the Rage Series a decade back. Now nvidia is copying Ati's dual GPU structure and crossfire hybrid structure.

  • I would rather compare by price...

  • looks shit

  • gay ??? your ignorent iam gay u dont even no me u fool hes not a ati fanboy he has a 790i and 9800gx2 oh and ur a pussy the comment wasnt for u in the first place so mind ur fuckin bisniss

  • who ever spammed me is a prick iam amd/ati fanboy but doesnt mean we need to be bias let me tell u somthing 9800gx2 is the fastest but when games start using directx 10.1 this baby will be used to its full potential and by the godseennocolour go and learn somthing dick head

  • directx 10.1 just contain some new shaders that are not brand new shaders, they're just the shaders to run ATI tech demos...

    GAY!

  • I think Logan is an ATi Fanboy - Maybe anyway

  • Yes, logan is an ATI fanboy.

  • dude.. look at all our videos... I like ATI a lot, but I probably do 10 nvidia videos for every ati video... I like both.

  • is taht true that nvidia make games like crysis together and so that nvidia get more performance than ATI in that games?

  • I think Nvidia sponsed Crytek, so they made the game optimal for nvidia gpu's but im not sure though

  • and not just crytek but most of the games...

  • aside from source lol. ATIs partnership program is way smaller yeah, but man, they got source on board, what are the odds?

  • Hi logan, i sendt u emails about 9800 gx2 black edtion:P Actually iv seen u defend the 3870x2 so ur totaly right!

  • lol

  • so I'll need another PCI express cable for this?

  • Why?

  • i wana see some benches with 2 of these in crossfire =], these cards look great

  • I want this card!!!!!

  • i get a constant 25 fps on my 2900xt in crysis with everything High, aa off. no lag whatsoevah!

  • well the 3870X2 would get over twice that.

  • the fastest graphic card is 9800gx2 at the moment and nvidia ten to be faster then ati in games due to optimization but like scotsocool

y would u need more than 60fps i always put vsync on my games

  • smoother gameplay :)

  • ati's graphic cards hav faster core clocks but nvidia has better fps

  • yeah but the cards go about displaying games very differently. Nvidia does tend to win at the moment, but, e.g this card here, is quicker than an 8800GTX/Ultra in most of the tests.

  • 9800GTX, not 8800GTX, the only card thats currently higher is the 9800GX2.

  • iam waiting for the am3+ mobo and cpus and 4870 gpus with ddr3 now that will be the monster to compare to a nvidia 790i

  • Wow, even with this card it can't do F.E.A.R. 100+ frames, and that game was made in what year? It just amazes me.

  • Why would you want that? The human eye cant see anymore than 60fps (or there abouts), and, many people with these uber quick cards dont bother with good monitors capable of refreshing quickly enough. if you are above 60fps in a game, u dont need anymore frames

  • This is where you are wrong. 60 frames is cool.. but if you have 300 frames, then you know you have more room for higher settings/ higher games/ higher resolutions. Next time think outside the box.

  • For that you would have to assume 300fps on low settings, which is an asumption you made. What I was saying is 60fps with the maximum settings, if you are hitting that in all the games you play, there is no reason what so ever to upgrade. Besides, the idea of hitting 300fps on a dx10 game on respectable settings is just a blatent exageration to try and justify your point

  • If you can only top 60 frames in the games youll play... youll have to update soon to play anything else new. Stop being an ass.

  • It was to emphasise a point that is obviously beyond your small mind. People seem to think they need 100+fps on the max settings when infact they do not. So stop being a tool ;)

  • Your first post was "The human eye can't see passed 60 fps" which is false. Your next post was "The idea of hitting 300 fps is just a blatent exageration" which is also false. Oh yea, spelled "blatant" wrong also Mr. BEYOND YOUR SMALL MIND. Your last post said "People seem to think they need 100+fps when infact they do not".. like I said, people can want what they want. My machine rendering @ 300 fps can withstand much more rendering than your 60 fps. I obviously got my money worth.

  • It's not false, I make the insinuation, you have to prove it wrong. Go and do that. Why is the exageration false? It's to emphasise a point moron. Couldnt care less about spelling mr slamm ling. People can want what ever the like but most people are idiots. 300fps can withstand more rendering is like saying my car can do 200mph in a 30 limit. Pointless. You didnt get your moneys worth as while you spend a fortune on a card, my cheaper one runs fine and when it strugles I replace it.

  • And even then I have spent less money and enjoying my games just as well as you. Guess who got there monyes worth ;) But then, this is because I replace my cards every 6 or so months. 8800GT which did did well in everything bar crysis for $200, and now 4870 for $275 and I run everything fantastic. I'll replace it in 6months again with another $300ish card. Enjoy your $1000 that gives you no benifit other than making u feel better about having no friends ;)

  • scotsocool, you sir are an idiot. Research your opinions before presenting them as facts. You try to lower this guys' intelligence, yet you continue to make yourself look more stupid.

  • He hasnt backed up his refuting claims with anything other than his opinion. As such I see it merely as a difference of opinion. I'd thank you to keep your moronic self out of it.

  • "The USAF, in testing their pilots for visual response time, used a simple test to see if the pilots could distinguish small changes in light. In their experiment a picture of an aircraft was flashed on a screen in a dark room at 1/220th of a second. Pilots were consistently able to "see" the afterimage as well as identify the aircraft. This simple and specific situation not only proves the ability to perceive 1 image within 1/220 of a second, but the ability to interpret higher FPS"

  • Which is not the same when we consider the refresh rate of the monitor. My point when I originally said it was that despite the FPS that you are aledgedly attaining, you cant see it because the monitor is not refreshing quickly enough. Yet both yourself and that other tool cant seem to catch onto that. For btw, a claim I made a few months ago, which he felt the need to call me out for now. And I stand by it

  • Infact it isnt even just that. Nvidia engineers when asked at what frame rate would you consider crysis ''conqured'' and the reply they got was in the 50-60 range. Higher is always better but at what price? Personally, I see no need to spend literally hundreds of dollars more for a frame rate you wont see a benifit from other than it will last you longer. Yet as I pointed out, when my cheaper card strugles, I simply replace it and I have still spent less cash than either of u.

  • Wikipedia: ''For example, a card may render a game at 100 FPS on a monitor running 75 Hz refresh, but no more than 75 FPS can actually be displayed on screen''.

Considering I was on about a 60Hz monitor (CRT) at the time, am still right all be it somewhat general. My point still stands what would be the point in the (for example) 300fps if the monitor isnt allowing you to see it, and as such the eye cant tell.

  • lol. Considering your claim with the 60Hz will only allow to view 60 FPS... well, that's only if you have vertical sync enabled. Again lol. You filled 3 comments to to say that crap? lmfao.

  • I havent been on Youtube in forever. Nor have I ever discovered my comment reply notification since I registered. Sorry I'm such a failure. Not that it matters, you're still an idiot.

  • I still lol everytime you find something else to argue about after you've been proved wrong. GG. Fill another 3 comments please. Try harder.
