This is a waste of space. 45% of the boreal allocated to logging companies? Maybe, but it dosen't mean that 45% is cut. Does greenpeace have any concept of natural disturbance? Clearcutting emulates natural disturbances such as fire which are integral to forest diversity. Leaving more forest untouched means more trees reach old growth status and eventually decompose. This process gives off carbon dioxide and advocates global warming. Not to mention lowering abundance of pioneer tree species.

cause the boreal forest is shrinking? Its growing every year, they cut less than the forest grows. If anything the boreal forest is too big, its spread to areas that were prairies and grasslands before we started to "protect the forest".
