China is the new colonial power, far more dangerous and destructive than the french or the british, because it has no human rights, no democracy, no independent checks on it's activities, and no freedom of speech to protest what it is doing.

It is not up to any of us who live outside of Tibet to tell the Tibetans what to do. Taiwan has democracy, so should Tibet. India is a large nation of 1.1 billion people & they have democracy. There is no reason why China cannot be democratic too. If all of China was democratic with the power to choose their own destinies, would anyone be surprised at what Tibet would ultimately choose? Daily, humanity becomes more democratic, it is only a matter of time.

Passport, the UN in not a world governmental body. The UN is simply a meeting place where the nations of the world can communicate with one another in a efficient way. The UN has never been anything but. There is no nation that is remotely interested in a democratic world nation. In the UN, only States have rights, individuals do not. Democracy is a human path. I believe as time passes individuals will become more free, making world government & nations obsolete.

Actually, the exact opposite will happen. As the worlds resources run out, nations will begin seizing what they need to survive, this will increase nationalism and wars will follow. This is inevitable, the only question is who is going to be seizing what? China is currently grabbing everything it can in africa and asia, the US in south america, and so on. America is a DEMOCRACY, the countries that China is dealing with in Africa are DICTATORSHIPS (just like China). Any country which is not a democracy is an ILLEGITIMATE STATE, and has no moral right to exist, or to impose it's will on other nations.
China will, one day, become a democracy, the only question is whether it needs to be destroyed in order for that to happen. And by destroyed I mean due to internal revolution. It's only a matter of time.

I agree. China is one of those members, correct me if I'm wrong. I don't see China lobbying to withdraw from the UN security council or to widen it in any way. Britain has requested that Germany and Japan be allowed to join.
China is lucky to be allowed into the UN at all, seeing as it has no democracy of any kind. It is nothing more than a military dictatorship, but apparently you are proud of that.

It's also a nuclear power that is still technically at war with another nuclear power (pakistan). The only reason it is not currently at war is because of the UN (mainly UK and US) threatening crippling sanctions.

To get Freedom for Tibet, China has to become free also. It is, unfortunately, unlikely that a totalitarian China will ever allow Tibet the right to self determination. Charter 08, the domestic democratic movement launched in China last month is not only the best hope for freedom in China, it is the best hope for freedom in Tibet. Totalitarian China is trying to destroy the Charter 08 movement but we can keep it alive. Talk to your local Chinese communities about Charter 08. It will help.
