I fear this was not an actual trumpet/bugler playing taps. US Military has chosen to using a artificial electronic bugle. Only an actual playing of taps should be acceptable. If a military band person is not available, then a student in a public school band should be enlisted to play taps. Lets preserve honor & tradition and ban these fraudulent electronic posers! Our fallen brothers and sisters deserve an honest playing of Taps which shows a true respect to the families and loved ones. .

I'm very sorry for your loss, I just want to say that regarding this video I was disapointed by the commanding soldier because he sounded weak on barking orders..normally the yell loud,,,which is the way it should be done..or maybe the video didn't record his commands properly. I understand where you are coming from. I just think that they if they cannot find a bugler in the military good enough to play, I think they should ask local music shops to find volunteers or bands to play. It is the least a civilian can do in return for a man or woman's service.

I attended my brothers coaches funeral last year and they brought a bugle to the funeral, but he didn't play it. He just put it up to his mouth and let the CD take over. I am 16 years old and was about to go rip a 20 some year old Navy man a new asshole for not actually playing it. When it comes to Military funerals I believe you must give 110% because that man or woman being buried is considered family, not just another person.

21 Gun salute is the highest honor you can get and only a few can get that like for example the President of the United States and Medal of Honor recipients... etc. That is just a 3 Volley Salute like the video says. Plus US Army Honor Guard wears Ceremonial Dress Blues and uses M14's with 7.62 blanks. By the way I am on the Honor Guard and we are a lot sharper then that, I salute all service members.

Not all army wears Dress blues yet..Not everyone has them so some are still doing them in Greens, some of us still use the M1 for the salute also. Not sure when the deadline for the Dress blue is.

I think it will be 2012, the honor guard has ceremonial blues and the ones the units will issue will not be ceremonial also with a few changes.

Not to seem picky here, but that was a 3 volley salute...."guns" are artillery pieces, these are rifles. A 21 gun salute is with cannons fired one at a time and not in unison...it is reserved for heads of state.

I'm in the army honor guard at Arlington National Cemetery. I just wanted to say those guys did one hell of a job with the 3 volleys a lot of people don't realize how difficult it is to get 7 people to fire at precisely the same time. Even being a split second off is noticeable.

21's are for presidents and heads of state. and the gun salutes should probably be done with m14's. but a good thing to say about this is that they were pretty sinchronized for using the m16.
