I'd say it's one of Spielberg and Kubrick best films, even though the ending was a little off (wasn't Spielberg's fault since it was in the original script)

Stanley Kubrick had the script of this movie but chose not to make it, because at the time special effects were not advanced enough, so he gave the script to Steven Spielberg. If he had made the movie himself, it would have been darker and less like Pinocchio
