  • I have a problem, I move a textured block, but the texture wont move. It just stays in the same position as it was in before. So I have to manually align the textures instead of simply moving the object. Any ideas?

  • You need to use overlays instead of decals. I believe it's the button below.

  • can anyone tell me why when i test the map in one building i have i cant see the floor or ceiling is juct black i messed around with lighting with no luck and tried different textures, but still no luck? and hammer cant find any errors so not that. thanks

  • I'm not sure what the problem could be. All I can recommend is rebuilding that building.

  • What do you mean by moveable? Making the brush a func_physbox will allow it to be knocked around by players and weapons. If you want it to move in a fixed way as if powered there are a number of options.

  • You can't rotate decals. You can rotate overlays however. The overlay button is the next to the decal button, I think. It looks like a brick cube with a gren square on top.

  • Are you using decal textures? Does it appear black in Hammer on in game or both?

  • Meh ... if I was to make tutorials, I'm pretty sure I would have an equally ridiculous accent. Some people just have it.

    But with decals I use a background i found of the british, the decal works fine just one prob: i can see it trough the walls, like im standing behind a wall or in a building i still can see this decal on my screen.

    Please advice :)

  • You can either make the walls thicker or use the overlay tool (brick cube with a little green square on top) instead of the decal tool.

  • You could try finding a white texture, making the brushes func_brushes and changing the colour setting or create/get your own plain colour textures and integrating them into the map see the following site:

  • Alright. it's because I want a large graffiti on one of my maps, but the decal of it is very very small, and making a brush with the graffiti texture makes that 1 px border that can block players hugging the wall.

    I'm trying to make a solution with vertexes, but it gets very messy.

  • do u know what my problem is when i have built a map and then the walls are white or the color they are from the begnning and it is inside a room so it should be black but the walls are there color can it be that the walls are white i have alsow added light to the room

  • How do I make a texture such as train tracks turn? Not like rotate 90 degrees, but start facing one direction then turn and face a different direction.

    I'm not sure if I explained that very well, but I hope you understand what I'm trying to do.

  • You will probably have to make the bend out of several brushes each with the tracks texture at a different angle to approximate a continuous bend.

  • It is my voice on the tutorials and I have failed to make anything very popular. I never really promote my maps, I only make them for a bit of fun. I enjoy making maps which are aesthetically and technically beautiful but they tend to get boring after a while. The game-play aspects of map making are seperate from technical aspects which I deal with in these tutorials.

  • Make it a func_illusionary (brush-entity) and then add a second brush of the same size right where the first brush is but with the 'clip' texture.
