  • Great job. Thanks for including Harpo's incredible playing.

  • Hi fellow MB freaks! I invite you to enjoy my new master class on the music of Chico and Harpo. Free, hilarious, and very educational! Type in "Dave Frank" Marx on Youtube.

    Dave Frank

    Assoc. Prof, Piano Dept.

    Berklee College of Music

  • The Marx Brothers were great! My all time favorites.

  • Beautiful montage! Thanks for posting it!

  • pure class and genius shame nothing around like this nowadays

  • a nice tribute...

  • they could mimmick each other so well that in the making of horse feather groucho had appende cidis and chico put on his make up and wardrobe and finished the fil as both characters

  • I can't remember what movie that is from with the harp in the begginning....?...

  • i think it's from love happy :)

  • What a luv'ly video.

  • the Marx Bros. in COLOR!?!?! which film is that?

  • Well that was a practice shot that was hidden away. The full film was never in color. You see the finished scene earlier in this video.

  • From the set, it looks like it was from "Animal Crackers." That's the one where Groucho was Captain Spaulding. It's from 1930, so it's a rather early two-strip Technicolor, Multicolor, or Cinecolor.

  • BTW, the buy in the flannel-looking housecoat is Harpo (sans wig).

  • the best people come from brooklyn!

  • The Marx Bros. didn't come from Brooklyn.

  • heheh..I made this video

    :)

  • yeah you did! SOOOO long ago too!

  • if theres any cofusion between crazy and zany the marx bros. are definitely insane in the very most lovable way the jokers you love to hate such antagonists grocho was the most famous but i think harpo is a mad genious needless to say i kind of like the marx bros.

  • the gate swung open and a fig newton entered good end lol

  • Gummo Marx quiet the zct before they got into films

  • Where was Gummo Marx? How many movies did he ever make?

  • when in doubt, ask yourself "What would Harpo do?" Of course, this might not improve the situation...

  • No, but it will at least make someone laugh. Especially if you have a friend willing to fill in a chico or groucho-esque line

  • tear something! Ha

  • cute

  • Wonderful advice!

  • Way ahead of there time.

  • I miss the hell out of them!!! Growing up whith them on Sat. mornings in addition to

The 3 Stooges; Bugs Bunny; Woody Woodpecker was great.

  • that is brill, love em to bits

  • Harpo was a really good pianist aswell

  • Chico was the pianist!

  • Yeah but in one of the films Harpo plays the piano really well too

  • Each one of them were good musicians

  • Never heard of them until my husband showed me.

  • Not fair. They got the Marx Brothers, we get the Baldwin Brothers. You suck, universe!

  • I Agree

  • They kill me every time, it's just plain funny! They don't make them like this anymore

  • They are still best

  • Les frères de marx étaient très drôles!

  • We need to bring Vadavill back...lol

  • Wouldn't matter if they did. Nobody could ever measure up to the Marx brothers, anyways.

  • i know...but if we brought it back we could have more fun then just having to watch Brodway or Pictures...then again vaudvill now days is kindof High school acts and community musicals..lol

  • i wish i had a time machine...........

  • Me too!

  • harpo rocks!

  • You are very perceptive!

  • wow

  • My grandad wrote marx brothers plays and a really famous one called "A Day in Hollywood a Night in Ukraine"

  • Yessire that's a entertainment!!!!

Never again. Brilliant, unimitatable, born out of vaudeville and the penny arcade.

I love the repartee between Chico and Groucho each trying to outdo the other in one-liner one upmanship!! Priceless.

  • i have all the movies now on dvd my 2 sons absolutely love them.

    gone but never forgotten!!!!!!!

  • I have always loved these guys since I was a kid in particular Groucho Marx... much copied but never ever equalled. What talent. Best scenes for me are whenever he is flirting with Mrs. Margaret Dumont.

  • Apparently Margarat Dumont did not understand many of the jokes, but she went along anyway. I guess she could trust in the brilliance of their lunacy.

  • i know so many people that don't know who these guys are. Its a shame. They are so awesome!!

  • Disorganized, but could be wonderful if cleaned up. Cut out all the ratty movie clips, rearrange the stills, and end with the fantastic rare shot of Gummo taking a curtain call!

  • well, my 10 year old`sister made it. lol. But thank you so much anyway!!

  • It looks like Gummo, but I think that's Harpo, without his wig, in a test shot for Technicolor during the filming of 'Animal Crackers'. India has put the finished version of the same scene right after it. Wish it was Gummo though, it'd be great to see him!

  • Yes, I think you're right, it's Harpo. It was just wishful thinking, but I read that Gummo left the act after returning from WWI -- isn't that what it was? The five boys all looked a lot alike. There was also an older brother, Manfred, who died in infancy. Imagine all six of them on the stage at once!

  • Hilarious.

  • "and that's steiberg jr." hilarious =)

  • Haha. I noticed that too. I can't believe they got all that stuff past the sensors back then. Hilarious stuff.

  • bizarre job of editing. Clips start, then just stop halfway through...then return to an earlier scene... pretty lame.

  • When we combine Groucho's facetiousness with the slap stick stuff, never will we see any group come even close to the Marx Brothers overall brilliant madcap humor.

  • There were The Marx Brothers and then all the rest.

  • these guys are teh best. margeret dumont was perfect as a sidekick

  • Get your peanuts!

  • THIS is comedy! The Marxes rule, now and forever!!!!

  • The Marx Brothers are legendary! Thanks for sharing this excellent video.

  • thanks so much!

  • "These are the worst cigars I've ever smoked."

"Yeah, and your ice isn't cold enough either."
