The XT basically has a detuned Legacy GT engine in it (EJ255) & it doesn't take much for it to reach STi levels of power. Combine that with it's AWD system & it's basically a tiny STi SUV.

Forester XTs use the same motor/tranny that the WRX has.

They have the same wheelbase, in fact they are on the same chassis, they are damn near the same vehicle

They only weigh about 70lbs more than a WRX, but they have a more aggresive final drive ratio.

They run low to mid 14's with an OK driver. STOCK. I have seen an 04 Forester XT running 13.8s BONE STOCK (great driver). and the 06-07 FXT isnt any slower.

The GTI doesnt stand a chance in hell.

@goldsgym1244 There were 2 Mk4 GTI's the 2ltr and the 1.8T the 2ltr was dung but the 1.8T had 150bhp and I "think" there was a 180bhp as well but can't be sure. Either way, that Forester has 220+ std so it's game over for almost all GTI's!!!
