Doesn't really look like significant "tearing up" to me. What about building the road; did that help to beautify the land? Yep, it's a mine, and yes, they are carving into the mountain to extract valuable metals which does destroy landscape. But what do wildfires, earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes, tornadoes, and tsunamis do? It's a fleeting footprint on the geologic timescale.
