I thought there was a difference between attacking other people and discerning the truth and that the former is out of hate (intentional or not) and the latter is out of love. It's not about attacking other pastors, it's about knowing and understanding truth. Many are being deceived (and itch for it) into an easy-believeism of a powerless Christ which is a justification for them getting a prosperity in this life when the real prosperity is in the life to come.

If you want to interpret the Bible in way that says you shouldn't prosper in this world because you're Christian (btw, prosperity is more than money) than feel free to do so. What are these people to get from Svendsen sermon? That their better than Lakewood members? That's great. How did this word help his flock?
@stevenp25100 Forgive me if I read your earlier comment incorrectly (concerning the hell part). And also forgive me for not being clear enough. Prosperity is more than money, I know. However, it's what people do with the prosperity that God graciously affords them is what is at issue here (ex. Luke 12:13-21). I hope they (the audience?) wouldn't think that they are better than other congregations, I don't believe that's what Svendson was getting at here.
@stevenp25100 What I do think what Svendson is trying to convey here is a warning that there is a lot of people today that now use Jesus as a means to justify their own works-oriented salvation and they don't fully realize it. There's no one exempted from this, so I think that's why Svendson is talking about it to begin with. If we are not allowed or not able to discern truth about false prophets (and false teachers) then we are in real trouble.

But by grace alone. But faith without works is dead. If we think that the grace of the Son nullifies the commandments of the Father we are on a slippery slope indeed. To be a disciple is to imitate the master. Yehoshua kept all the commandments of the Father. We should too.

So let me try to understand this: Svendson is warning the audience about ways that undermine the Gospel and to mindful of them, and you think he's really sowing dissension or discord? I thought that's basically what all the Prophets did and what Jesus did himself. I find it of great benefit to know how exactly false prophets/teachers are perverting the Gospel of Christ.

@artsychic2000 what most people don't realize is that they are breaking the commandments by keeping sunday as their sabbath. The commandment stands. We never repent of breaking that fourth commandment cause we think it's okay. It's not. You break one, you break them all.

We can rebell continuously as we have in the past. through obedience our lives are changed. I cannot do the things which were commonplace in my life before and things i justified out of ignorance. Once you come to the saving grace of God you are transformed.
one thing is sure..that we have no power in ourselves to overcome these things. it is the transforming work of God. We are to strive toward perfection. all of the apostles say that. It is because of our faith in him that he will take us beyond our ability. To say that we are saved by nothing but grace is not quite right. We have to want to be different..we have to want to change. When people talk of grace they say, just as i am..without the desire to change.

@pdxeddie1111 Yes the Law has no power over us since Yehoshua paid our penalty at Calvary. Now that we are free from the condemnation of the law do we continue in sin? Paul said heaven forbid! And what is sin? It is transgression from the law. What we do need to understand however is the difference between YHVH's law & mans law. There was the Mosaic law handed down on Mt. Sinai (The Torah) and then there was the Rabbinical oral law today written down and known as the Talmud.

Revelations 22:18 is the passage that admits you can corrupt Revelations (at least). And yes, I am having a problem with the trinity. I'll ask you this.. if there are 3 heads to one entity, why is 'God' included as a part, and not the whole? Shouldn't Jesus and the holy spirit be a part of God instead? Shouldn't God BE the trinity? I know how to think of it, I was taught it, but it doesn't fit.

When the disciples asked to see the Father, Yehoshua told them, if you have seen Me then you have seen the Father. Yehoshua literally means Yehovah (YHVH) saves....An anology I use is....You can fill a bottle with water from the ocean. The ocean is in that bottle. But is it the whole ocean? Such is the kingdom of God.

@Itchhhh There are passages that suggest Jesus is God. I do not deny that. There is also a passage in Revelations that admits the book (revelations) is fallible and open to corruption. If Jesus is God, why the many titles and confusing language? God was very specific when he said that we should have only one God, and it should be Him! If Jesus is Him, then he should have said so very plainly. Jesus, however, also says many things that suggest he is far from being God.

However, it's what people do with the prosperity that God graciously affords them is what is at issue here (ex. Luke 12:13-21). There's no one exempted from this, so I think that's why Svendson is talking about it to begin with. If we are not allowed or not able to discern truth about false prophets (and false teachers) then we are in real trouble.

what can God do for me?

why do people seek "therapy"? because the have needs which previously they were taught to live with.
but the speaker here has seen that all the "therapies" are in fact legalistic. this is why i rejected celebration of discipline and purpose driven life years ago.

@artsychic2000 what most people don't realize is that they are breaking the commandments by keeping sunday as their sabbath. The commandment stands. We never repent of breaking that fourth commandment cause we think it's okay. It's not. You break one, you break them all.

@artsychic2000 so are you saved by observing the law? I think not, First the Sabbath has and always will be Saturday but that is law. Paul mentions that we are not beholden to the law for if we are died in Christ then the law has no power over us, We are free truly but to counteract that freedom he also says we shouldnt sin because if we call Christ master than we should observe his life where no law was broken and emulate it.

it came from Him but only because I wanted it above all things. He is the transforming power. The law is there so we can decide what we want to do. Not one jot or tittle of the law is done away with, look it up

@pdxeddie1111 i didn't say that...i told you...it is the transforming power of God when you obey..if you don't obey i don't believe the transforming work can be accomplished. We can rebell continuously as we have in the past. through obedience our lives are changed. I cannot do the things which were commonplace in my life before and things i justified out of ignorance. Once you come to the saving grace of God you are transformed.

one thing is sure..that we have no power in ourselves to overcome these things. it is the transforming work of God. We are to strive toward perfection. all of the apostles say that. It is because of our faith in him that he will take us beyond our ability. To say that we are saved by nothing but grace is not quite right. We have to want to be different..we have to want to change. When people talk of grace they say, just as i am..without the desire to change.

@pdxeddie1111 Yes the Law has no power over us since Yehoshua paid our penalty at Calvary. Now that we are free from the condemnation of the law do we continue in sin? Paul said heaven forbid! And what is sin? It is transgression from the law. What we do need to understand however is the difference between YHVH's law & mans law. There was the Mosaic law handed down on Mt. Sinai (The Torah) and then there was the Rabbinical oral law today written down and known as the Talmud.

@ken10092 The only thing I know of for sure about anything is Christ and Him crucified because while we were yet enemies, God saved the ungodly. We could split hairs about what we should do or shouldn't do but we were not saved because of good works but to do good works.

Revelations 22:18 is the passage that admits you can corrupt Revelations (at least). And yes, I am having a problem with the trinity. I'll ask you this.. if there are 3 heads to one entity, why is 'God' included as a part, and not the whole? Shouldn't Jesus and the holy spirit be a part of God instead? Shouldn't God BE the trinity? I know how to think of it, I was taught it, but it doesn't fit.

@humanoidcontent The trinity is the doctrine of man. No where in the Bible does it mention the trinity. Over and over the Bible does say the YHVH is One. When the disciples asked to see the Father, Yehoshua told them, if you have seen Me then you have seen the Father. Yehoshua literally means Yehovah (YHVH) saves....An anology I use is....You can fill a bottle with water from the ocean. The ocean is in that bottle. But is it the whole ocean? Such is the kingdom of God.

AHH !!! This is like listen to MacArthur, Piper, or Washer - sustaining truth. I love the quote from Horton's book about being pulled out of our drama & into God's domain for his purpose, not our's. This pastor is so right about these "gospels of the self." People think because they throw in some Scripture to "back THEIR points," they've "included" Jesus in their message. Well, how gracious of them - & how utterly sacreligious. Jesus IS the message.

@fruitofspirit Yes, He is the message, but a point I think this vid fails to make clear are 2 quotes from The Logos Himself: "so be ye perfect, as is you Father in Heaven perfect." ..and.."anyone who does the will of My Father is my mother, my sister, my brother." In other words, to do selfless acts in order to glorify God is essential. As stated by James..."faith without works, is dead." Good works, prayer, fasting is exactly what Yeshua wanted us to do to glorify The Father.

@Itchhhh It's all about Yahweh. God. If we're talking about the mistakes of the church, I find that is a big one. Jesus is the messenger and the light and the way to our one, glorious God. Through him we may know God more fully and we hear His message through Jesus. Jesus isn't God though. I do not believe that. God is God.

@Itchhhh There are passages that suggest Jesus is God. I do not deny that. There is also a passage in Revelations that admits the book (revelations) is fallible and open to corruption. If Jesus is God, why the many titles and confusing language? God was very specific when he said that we should have only one God, and it should be Him! If Jesus is Him, then he should have said so very plainly. Jesus, however, also says many things that suggest he is far from being God.

@Skogsmulla32 yes yahweh was one of 72 elohim assigned to this galaxy however he fell pray to ego and ultimatley was responsible for the deaths of millions of innocent people because they would not bow domn to him. Since the elohim cannot descend of plane he did not descend. He also had the help of some very cruel extra-terrestrials.

What a wonderful message. Yahweh/God owes us nothing. If we have food and clothing we are to be content. If we have a house, a car, a computer, we are already rich. He already gave his Son, so that we have the opportunity to spend eternity with Him, what more can He give us? May Yahweh bless you for posting this message. Most of the modern church is so off course, we really have to examine our hearts and motives.
