Whats Ironic about this is We would watch wresting on T.V and Bitch and Gripe about too many promos and not enough Matches. Years Later, the promos is what you want to see.
Ha he...he said Momma was gonna call him home. lol. Referring to the broadcast from Oral Roberts saying if he didnt raise a million dollars...the lor was going to call him home.
Funny part was...look at the wrestlers faces when he said that...they are trying not to laugh..lol.
how can you not like Cornette after a promo like that? lol. i remember watching Cornette back in the NWA days. i kept thinking back then, "Man, i wish this guy would shut up!" but that's the thing; he was pushing my buttons. now, you look at what he's doing and you think, "Damn, can he talk!" on another note, i wonder what Bobby was writing?
This was right after Bubba won the UWF Championship from One Man Gang. Little did the general public know at the time but that was the first sign that Crockett had bought the UWF from Bill Watts and that pretty much was the beginning of the end for Crockett due to the fact that he overpaid for it.
@Sargebri One Man Gang was heading to the WWE, so Crockett suggested Bubba as a transitional champion to set up Steve Williams to win the belt at the Great American Bash.
As for the story about Crockett buying the UWF, the story I heard was that Bill Watts leaked that the WWE was interested and was looking to pay more than the original JCP offer. Crockett supposedly paid an additional $2 million to get it before Vince did
@RayNDeere Okay. I didn't know about the UWF/WWF portion of the story. Of course, Hacksaw Duggan had made his WWF debut around the time of Wrestlemania III and a few months later Ted DiBiase would follow.
An interesting fact about DiBiase. Just before he left the UWF, there was a hint that he was going to turn heel and eventually feud with Doc. Also, DiBiase said that when he was in negotiations with Crockett that Crockett had said that he would put the NWA belt on him.
I USED TO HATE JIM CORNETTE AS A KID BUT LOOKING BACK AT SOME OLD FOOTAGE NOW HE WAS CONVINCING AS A HEEL,MANAGER,,TALKER & WE WANTED TO SEE HIM GET HURT.....GREAT JOB JIMMY
I remember he broke down and cried "PLEASE don't make me get in a cage with Ronnie Garvin!" lol Also I remember there was a female wrestler who dropkicked him from the top turnbuckle. He said "She could've ruptured my kidneys David!" (Crockett). lol classic Cornette.

There's Cornette and Heenan...then there's everybody else. Without a doubt, the 2 greatest managers in the history of Pro Wrestling.

THIS IS WHAT IS MISSING FROM TODAYS WRESTLING, PEOPLE WHO WHO KNOW HOW TO DO PROPER MIC WORK.
I DON'T EVEN CARE IF YOU CAN WRESTLE TO BE HONEST. I WANT TO SEE PEOPLE WHO CAN CUT A PROMO LIKE THIS.
The scary thing is that these guys back in the day could do both. that's how good they were.
Too many losers are allowed into wrestling now.

Funny, I though Jimmy first met Scandor Ackbar (SP?) in Mid-South 1984. "I bought a copy of We Are The World." Now that is funny!
