It's unfortunate Iowa is solely focused on capitalizing on deer. I was once able to knock on a farmers door and hunt, now it's nearly impossible unless you own land. People like this think they "own" deer. Grow them, name them and shoot them. Doesn't make much sense for the average guy. It's the next generation who will suffer by the greed.
@IARACKS You have some VERY good points... and this is the problem with any QDM program. But you can't really blame the farmer, why should he let me hunt for free when the next guy will pay? Same goes for the guide who is also only trying to make a living. And it's not just Iowa... any State that has BIG bucks is getting that way and the future is bleak for ALL hunters in that respect. So what can we/YOU do about it? That's what my program is all about...
We do still hunt with outfitters and guides on some adventures, but we also do public land adventures. You can lobby for more land access, softer restrictions, work with the local land owners (basically kiss butt in preparation for the season), start your own guide service or a hunt club. Maybe even buy a piece of land just for hunting... all this takes time and work, but it's worth it! It's a tough future for sure; but hunters ARE tough and we will find a way. Good luck & thanks 4 watching :)
@vthuntress Maybe I can get you one! What a great hunt and YES to the other posters - southern Iowa (about 30 miles North of the Kisky farm). What an incredible hunt!
