on my hd2 i put videos that are pretty long but dont need 10,000 kbps to see them. 10,000 kbps is so useless if its constant. i use CRF at 56 for my hd2 videos and get a great quality file. they even look great on my hdtv. and the hd2 is amazing, dont use corepalyer or tcpmp or anything like that, they dont have video acceleration. In a world where everyone blindly says, iPhone is better, i say. who cares.because iDont have one. what i say is T Mobile > ATT every day of the week. HTC > Apple

why the fuck u wanna watch 800 pixel wide movies on a fone ?? 700mb videos are much better on ur battery and i doubt u see the diff on the 4.3" screen ...
1. It doesnt matter, the gpu will still process the 480x800 on iphone, but when it displays it will be the screens native res. just like how when u play a blueray disc on a computer, some parts are cut off because bluray is 1920x1080 while ur monitor may not be.
@TomaCukor I wasn't even saying anything provocative and then you say that? O.o what is your problem, are you unhappy with your purchase so you have to take it out on other people? Wow don't be an ass
what youre saying is true, but i dont see why this is funny? i never said anything against this fact.
my point was, that playback capabilities of iPhone and HD2 in full res OF EACH DEVICE cant be compared because the HD2 has 2.5 times more pixels to calculate.
so a conclusion like "because the iphone can run a full res encoded video smoothly but the hd2 cant, means the iPhone is faster" is wrong.
besides that: the HD2 can run ful res smoothly. why should the GPU be any faster?
Wrong, playback has nothing to do with the resolution. Cuz if you play a 1080p video on both the iphone or HD2, the same amount of data is processed, however what is displayed is different. I know this comment is old, but ppl need to know the truth.
If we used your theory that would mean if i played a 800x480 video with 5kbps bitrate on the HD2, then it would have the same playback as a 1280x720 video with 5kbps bitrate. Which is obviously false.
Also, even if Iphone has a lower res screen, the GPU in the iphone will do better than the one in the HD2. The Powervr SGX535 does 28m polygon/sec while the SOC Snapdragon chip only does 22m Polygon/sec, so Iphone would still do better. Sorry but facts don't lie.
@Turkish42 wtf are u doing answering a comment that is ages ago. lol.
I had a Touch HD before so i just wanted to see how the hd2 performs and sadly it sucks. And also, to all the ppl saying the hd2 has to process more data...
NONONO, you are wrong! LOL when u play a 1080p video on iphone or hd2, its processing the same amount of data, its just what is actually displayed is different.
Dumbasses putting thumbs up on another dumbasses comment.
i tried to compare all different kinds of formats in (800x480) and if you use H.264 your HD2 will loose a lot of frames! you should definately not use H.264!!!! BUT if you use MpG4 instead of H.264 you can play all kinds of videos with much more frames!!!! (don't know why! XD)

so is that basically saying that the cortex a8 cpu are better than snapdragon cpu? man i was all like, this will be the iphone killer, capacative screen and all, but so far the camera and the gpu is so disappointing :[

umm is the video suppose to be like that :/ cuz it is real choppy o.o my iphone can play higher quality avi files using yxflash with no hardware acceleration without skips :/ can u do a benchmark with this video and tell us the results? cuz looking at this, its really disappointing. my iphone with a 600mhz processor can play it better than this phone with 1ghz processor...and since it is no hardware acceleration it is all cpu, no graphic gpu help :[
what coreplayer should i get for my xperia x2? i have 1.3.6 and it just plays sound, no image:( pls help!!

1 use xilisoft onverter
2 tap on HD then H.264
3 profile settings
4 video size 800x480
5 Bitrate from 4000 to 8000 its your choice
6 Aspect Ratio 16:9
7 Audio Bitrate 128
play the video with original HD2 player from file explorer, You will discover there is no need to Coreplayer at all.

1. the hd2 has exactly 2.5 times more pixels than the iphone. meaning: it has to process 2.5 times more data.
2. MPEG-4 is actually part of H.264 as well. if you wanna say it right, say H.263 and H.264
3. "/watch?v=XiU3vv0LKW8" if you start watching at 6:47 youll see that H.264 should run smoothly up to 10.000kbps. dont know whats wrong with yours.
4. finally if you encode wisely you dont need 2000 kbps at all. x264 has improved so much, try something like 1200 kbps (or better CRF encoding)

HD2 is better! you can't compare it to the iphone because it has only 320x480 and the HD2 has 480x800!

My HD2 has 100 times better video quality than my old 3G!
Iphone screen sucks hardly!!! you can't compare it to this!

CorePlayer doesn't support hardware video acceleration.
But still it plays almost smooth!
