Bombing of the cities is a war crime, everywhere it is done. The war crimes were bombings of London and Warsaw and bombing of Hamburg, Dresden and Cologne. It is obvious. War or revange is no excuse. If allies considered themselves as standing on the good side, they should not use the means which was used by the nazi bombings earlier. And furthermore, bombing of Dresden was useless from the strategic point of view, when III Reich army was defeated. The city was full of refugees, they died there.

Cologne was one of the eldest and most beautiful but unfortunately also the most destroyed german town. The population sank from 800.000 to 104.000. Almost 98 % of the buildings were damaged or blown away.

Although my family lost many members due to bombing, we never hated the Allies. We thanked God, when the Americans arrived and the war was at an end.

Please notice: At Cologne Hitler received less voices than in any other town. And there was more underground resistance than anywhere else.

First up, that 1000 bombers every weekend for 3 years claim is aload of shit and your figures of the blitz are well under aswell. We were at war, Cologne was a heavy industrial city and so it was bombed to try and weaken the position of the German military. You can't accept the fact your country started a war (I'm not blaming German people for that, it was beyond their control) and then complain that you got bombed. The Luftwaffe dished it out, the RAF and USAAF returned it with interest.

Cologne was NOT almost totally destroyed 30 may 42. Although it was the biggest raid yet on any city, only 480 were killed and 3300 buildings destroyed, but Col had 772.000 inhab.

June/july 43 saw 4 big raids, the worst killed 4.377 and made 230.000 homeless when the city burned for 5 days. In 1944 it was terrorized beyond belief, especially in october. And the worst of all came 2/3 1945...

Cologne endured 262 raids of which at least 25 were huge. The inner city was spectacular. Was...
