Cigarettes release endorphins, those wonderful little chemical chains that cause happiness. How fantastic for such a little stick of plant leaves! This is why I smoke! It is soothing and relaxing. It helps to calm down thoughts, and helps you to focus if you're angry or stressed. Perhaps if everyone would chill out with a cigarette once in awhile, people wouldn't be so uptight all the time.

Parkinson's Disease is almost non-existent in lifelong smokers. Some surgeons who are non-smokers chew tobacco during long surgeries for that extra "edge" just like baseball players. Cancer? You are either gonna get cancer or you're not. Smoking just makes it more aggressive in the people already prone to it.

They're still making multiples of millions in tax dollars/pounds from our habit and offering state sanctioned cessation devices that have more than a 90% failure rate, which by 'coincidence' cost waaaaaay more than cigarettes. hmmmm. Why not do the euro thing and act like adults and offer the public pro and non smoking establishments? Allow consenting adults to make the choice. That's what i meant by fascism and it is.

I remember as a kid loving the aroma of my father's pipe so it really is a matter of opinion, rather than fact. This law is to do with protecting people from harm. The tax collected is great - I agree. How can tobacco use be a fact of our existence? It does not sustain human life, in fact the very opposite is true.

I disagree that governments have cultivated our habit, they may have turned a blind eye because of the revenue. Nicotine is more addictive than heroin. Denial (by smokers) is akin to denial by alcoholics and other drug users that fail to see they have an addiction/problem.

As far as I am concerned, you can continue to smoke, but not next to me. Non smokers also have the right to freely assemble. I wouldn't want to share a pub with a smack head either.
