I was actually introduced to this song through Cradle, and I must say, the original has it's own fantastic 80's flavour. Love it.

This video is an homage to the 1919 German film 'Das Kabinett' [AKA. The Cabinet Of Doctor Caligari], directed by Robert Wiene and designed by Hermann Warm & Walter Rohrig. The look is expressionistic, but mainly down to the fact that post war Germany was broke, big time. It helps the film no end.
