  • When is he coming to Sweden?

  • yes !! introduce the band Ry....that's the way to do it.. F**king brilliant !! C'mon

  • And Flaco's just being cool, like always

  • I saw both shows in SF (1987). Awesome!! One of the best shows I've ever seen. Took pictures both nights.....

  • ... what might seem like a tribute, like " born in the USA"

  • That is what we call a grooooove

  • That is one relaxed, deep pocket

  • Jim Keltner is Awesome .

  • Quality never goes out of Style

  • i reallly like this video!!!!

  • Any idea if there is a copy of this entire concert available on dvd?

  • I grew up with this. Love it

  • phew, funky....! Great to see George Bohannon on trombone!

  • phew, funky....!

  • Brilliant

  • Love the solo parts. Thx for sharing.

Have a nice day, hugs with love from MalukuTiger. XXX

  • This band inspires the intelligent comments here. Unique!!

  • I love Ry ... thanks for posting.

  • Unlike a lot( but not all) of today's music, it wasn't about " how much $ y'gonna make" but "how much FUN you and the audience gonna have tonight". Saw this tour, and man.... it WAS Fun. STILL talkin' 'bout it. Once again ,thanks for the post. Despite what some think, YT rocks. And rolls. Peace.:-)))

  • gui riff 1:47

  • JEFFERY I TOTALY AGREE, USED DO COUPLE HIS TUNES!! THE GUYS REMARKABLE!!!

  • These Horn Players HAVE CHOPS

  • Ry's Finest Hour?...Among Many!!

  • YEAAAAHH!!!!!!

  • This is a phenomenal gig. It is the whole looseness, camaraderie, improv vibe that makes this one of his all time best gigs. A million fans would snatch Cooder's right arm off to buy an official DVD of this gig. I've an old VHS copy of this gig that I recorded when it was on TV here in the UK. It is missing the last 2 minutes when the tape ran out. Can someone start a petition to get this gig released?

  • @jmsbk12345 Fully agree w/ you, I thought it was one of the best things (musically) that I've ever seen....if you could copy the tape you have I would buy one from you!!...As I said, I personally asked Mr. Blank about it but no luck.....London Rocks!!!

  • Would some one please let me know if i can purchase a DVD of this entire gig. I have an old VHS concert of it. Thanks.

  • @jmsbk12345 I met the film maker Les Blank here in L.A. about a month ago, this is not available for purchase...he told me that Ry Cooder didn't feel it was one of his best performances and didn't want it released...I said if this wasn't one of his better performances I can't imagine what would be because this is pretty damn great...do you have the whole show on tape?...that's pretty good if you do........

  • I just realised I saw Flaco Jimenez in June 1989 after my GCSEs (pre High School) exams. It was the very day I finished my last exam. I thought I recognised him. I have never seen him since

  • sweeeeeeeeeeeeet!

  • One of my all time faves fro the great Ry Cooder. Loved the original with Chaka Khan

  • Ry is not nor has ever been a New Orleans musician, but he always reminds me of a Nola group or player--the Meters, for example, or the Nevill Bros..

  • Just rumbling along everbody in the grooove .nobody try,n to steal the show. Was priveliged to have seen this fine assembly of musicians in Manchester on there Get Rhythm Tour yonk,s ago Thank you Ry.

  • Blind Jim Keltner on drums - class.

  • He's blind?!

  • @joeyjoejoe1916

No, he just wears shades. They shot some promo pix in San Francisco on this mini-tour for a drum endorsement. The photog asked Mr. Keltner if he wanted to take his sunglasses off for some of the photos. He dryly replied, "If I took my glasses off nobody would know that it was me." Great guy - great drummer - a real pro.

  • tis is total overload for and old rock and roller, jezzzzzz, lord comin home

  • Down in Hollywood...........

  • talent from up above-simple as that

  • What a fantastic performance. I have seen and heard many. Man I would have loved to been there live. This is the next best thing. I'm goin down to Hollywood.

  • Did Jim Keltner ever take a day off ? Seems he played on every major record of the 70's.

  • This man is a National Treasure my friends!

  • I second that motion !

  • @jefferyakathedude World Heritage! =D

  • istne cudo!!!!

  • "Bop 'til you Drop" is a Classic and one of my all-time faves...

    BR/The Ghost of Elvis Project

    CANADA, eh...

p.s. Live is good, but check the studio version...

  • the album this cut is on is so great

  • Ja! Ja! Dat is muziek, dat is muziek!

  • WHAT A BAND

  • Didn't a horn player work with Ry on writing and composing this? Not sure if he's onstage during this performance, but I saw him elsewhere on Youtube with Little Feat, I think it was.

  • REALY GREATTTTT THANKS

  • 4 trivia buffs, Bob till you drop was the first digital recorded album

  • Bop till you drop is fantastic. I still listen to it regularly. I was lucky enough to catch Ry on tour with this same line up and it is on my top 10 best shows for sure. Such great group of players.

  • Awesome stuff. I've this on vinyl in the basement, have to find it on CD now!!!

Love Ry's voice and his sense of "band"

  • Even if it sound like the Dead, think Ry and company are not the ones who cover.....they are just great musicians....

  • Song is from "Bop Till You Drop", first digitally mastered vinyl. Chaka Khan on vocals on album. This song has NOTHING to do with the dead, thank god. Dude must have worked at the Catalyst. Thanks so much for these of Ry. He is a living legend. What a funky, funky live performance. Thanks again.

  • chaka really wails on that version!! hard to say which one I like the best, and "down in Hollywood" is a favorite.. glad I found this!!

  • "Nice and all. But does it not sound like a rip off of Grateful Deads "Shakedown Street". Same rythms, same call-and-response same harmonics. This is not as good as Shakedown Street, though."

    You must be joking.

  • Nice and all. But does it not sound like a rip off of Grateful Deads "Shakedown Street". Same rythms, same call-and-response same harmonics. This is not as good as Shakedown Street, though.

  • i can see a SLIGHT resemblence between this and shakedown street, but other than that it's alot different, and i'm a dead-head.

  • Is there a white with as much funk as Jim keltner??!? I doubt it, my favourite!

  • I saw this band at the Cotati Cabaret during this tour. Best show I ever saw at the Cotati Cabaret and I saw a ton of great bands there. I can't believe I'm lucky enough to see this all these years later. Many thanks. Ry is my all time favorite guitarist. Before that show Van Dyke Parks confirmed a rumor I'd heard that Little Feat was reforming. And I can still feel my shirt vibrating from Willie Greene's low tones.

  • Hey....me too.

  • I was at both shows at Bimbos in SF during this tour! Best live show I've ever seen, and I've seen (and played) a lot. I recorded the show on a funky pocket tape player. Fuzzy recording, but it's priceless: this is possibly the best rock/pop/soul music ever.

  • One of the true genius of the last 40 years, no one can make a groovy number like this one ! What an amazing lineup in this concert :o)

  • OOOOOoooooo yea!

  • 38 +/- years ago I had an album with this and 7-8 more Ry Cooder songs... it got lost along the way... Thanks bro...

  • What a treat!! Thanks!

  • DA Best !!!!
