Upon pondering for a number of years, I think I figured why Ennio's composition and this story makes me sad...It's childhood!! Such a precious, holy timesake. Lolita's childhood dissapeared. She, could never be a child again. Despite her promiscuity, she was a child nonetheless. As for H.H. my melancholy lies in the death of his Annabel and the childhood H.H. lost as well. Ennio's music emphasizes this tragedy well.

God I love the soundtrack to this movie. It fit the story so perfectly. I´m so ambivalent to my feelings for the characters and it´s not a very comfortable at all. This was indeed a tragic movie.
