  • I am playing this as loud as it will go. you see, my neighbors kept me up all night on mushrooms. Now they get to hear Big Black while they TRY to sleep..

    hump me mommy!

  • Fuck me Mommy!

  • 15 people are 5 years old.

  • 15 people sucks theire mommys teet an got offended

  • I saw this video when I was 16 and haven't been the same since. Total game changer.

  • Roland was an amazing drumming... he could drum like a machine.

  • where do these videos of Pigpile come from? can't find them for sale anywhere.

ear-shattering stuff which sums up the pre-acid house 80's underground.

  • Fucking KINGS of noise. All hail the mighty Black.

  • they did reform for 25 minutes in 2006...albini isnt in it for the money..in a world where the Pop Group and even the bloody Scars can reform..i admit all bets are off but still some leopards never change their spots.... i come from a town like jordan..this is not a joke...

  • That is friggen sound art!

  • Steve Albini is one of the most tallanted muso's... I have great respect for this guy and hope that Big Black can reform.

  • This is fucking awesome.

Any reccomendations for other live performances where the band feedbacks the shit out of their instruments?

  • @Meowth666 - Both BIG BLACK shows at NO BAR & GRILL, Muncie, Indiana. Sunday, October 27, 1985 and Saturday, May 17, 1986.

  • One of my favorite Noise Rock bands! I love Albini!

  • Only thing missing is Justin Bieber.

  • Seminally Robust

  • Totaly Legends.Amazing live.

  • ONE TWO FUCK YOU!!

  • mrblud - Probably, back then most roland products were triggered by foot pedal, although it is still use today for bands like Big Black who have no "controller." Godflesh did the exact same thing, and were very open about their love for Big Black.

  • @Satyagrahaha I read they used an EMU Drumulator. It definitely sounds much more primitive, like the Drumulator.

  • @halation777 Sorry, it was an earlier model Roland at first, a Roland TR-606. They nick-named it "Roland" for album credits and on tour. Albini joked that "Roland" was a great drummer cause he didn't drink any of the beer or take any of the chicks.

  • How did they use the drum machine live, exactly? Does Steve have a pedal to stop and start the beats or something?

  • The kids'll love it!

  • Patrick Duffy is our Spacelord! All Hail S4E3 of "Step-by-Step"!

  • now THATS how you fuckin play guitar rock on steve albini

  • did they trigger the drum machine with a foot pedal? Cause they're spot on starting with it, Just wondering.!

  • take me back

  • scary

  • The singer in this band is awesome, act's like a retart which makes this video awesome, he's little screams make me laugh which also makes this song one of the best of all time.

  • The singer's name is Steve Albini.

Have a look at Wikipedia, get to know what this guy's all about... You might be surprised. ;)

  • @TrainBuffProductions His screams are supposed to imitate a child being raped, which is what the song is about.

  • Did I hear '...three, four'?!?

  • brilliant band, brilliant song !! They played this as their last song in their 2nd last gig which was in melbourne and it was an incredible 10-15 minute aural and visual assault. one of the best bands of all time.

  • did he die?

  • @1hotguitar Steve Albini? Nah man. Formed another band called Rapeman then became a record producer (or as he prefers 'recording engineer') of such bands as Nirvana, Pixies, P.J. Harvey, the Breeders, the Jesus Lizard and almost Fugazi but they didn't like him.

  • I thought he quit rapeman to go to law school?

  • Santiago Durango quit Big Black to go to law school.

  • @1hotguitar Actually he could be dead for all i know :s x

  • hahahaha. no part of me was secretley hoping you meant 'literally' but the bigger part of me has always just wanted you to drop off the face of this earth with out saying another word.

  • Youre not the only one to remember this band. Ive been listening to them for the last 20 so years. Never got bored of them, & I live in the U.K.

  • Twisted Freaks from the crawl spaces of chicago and frekin amazing music!

  • do all you people just sit around all day and comment videos and start fights with other people who comment videos. seriously just watch the video and move on.

  • Fuck what a change from all the lame shit out there now eg. anything from "Idol"

  • Man, you can really see where the Aussie band "Mark of Cain" got their inspiration for the song "Battlesick". I'm not saying ripoff but come on...

  • inre: all KUNTGLUV (condom) replies; you ARE intelligent. nobody's denying that.

you like what you like...it's that simple. you dont like Big Black...fine.

perhaps, your energies would be better spent on a video where people agree with you.

SO go play in a sandbox you like, and quit taking a dump in this one. BYE and have a nice day :)

  • fuck off lester bangs. you pissant..

  • 'I mean' hahahaha.. you're brilliant, stop it, please..

  • really, rascal flatts would actually murder these guys. you wouldn't be able to identify them.. they would fuck them up so damn bad.

  • I always wonder about people like you, who go out of their way to find stuff to shit on. I mean, you looked up videos of Big Black, that only takes effort... Don't you have better things to do? Jacking off would be more productive.

  • looshkin66 i can not tell if you're serious about that gunfighter comment or not.. if not good joke haha.

  • no...he really wore it lik a gun belt...literally.......god you are a moron.

  • this is not as easily identified as punk.......this is hard music for thinking people.

    unlike you

  • BIG PICTUrearrag .. you Fuckin retard..

  • I feel like after these guys played this shit, they wanted to kill everyone and then themselves. This looks and sounds like a suicidal person's dream.

  • What is he doing at 4:26

  • is he wearing some kind of hernia belt?

  • no, it's a home made guitar strap. He liked to have his guitar slung low like a gunfighter.

  • UMMMMMMMM-yeh

  • WOW..........may i suggest suicide?

  • LMFAO Bullzeye95, these guys were trying to make light of child molestation but they messed it up.. jesus..

  • "messed it up"? i know the story. i'm a bit confizzled as to where/when they "messed it up".

dont limit this to jordan, MN. thats just a tiny snapshot. See the BIG PICTURE....

  • I think that this has to be one of the most abrasive guitar sounds ever. So freakin awesome!

  • ah music for the whole family

  • is this paradiso amsterdam, the small stage?

  • omg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • "Come here, and do as you're told.."

  • The singer I thought acted like someone who has a disability with nerd glasses. But they helped me to like this band and song, Big Black are one of a kind band who ya gotta love.

  • Just to put this out there. Jordan isn't like this anymore. I live in Jordan. And I'm damn proud of it too!

  • To be fair, Jordan, MI was never "like that". The events Albini refers to was the arrests of a bunch of parents in Jordan as part of the massive, country-wide "day care center Satanist child molestation" panic that resulted in a lot of innocent people going to jail based on coerced testimony from children.

All of the convictions of the Jordan parents were eventually vacated after the panic subsided.

Oops, I guess Steve jumped the gun a bit. Sorry Jordan.

  • the bomb big black i had the luck to see them in 92 or thereabouts in Baltimore, the city that rocks!

  • Ummmm hate to tell you this bt Big Black split up in 1987 and didn't play together again untill 2006 for the Touch and Go 25th anniversary gig!!!

  • You probably mean Shellac.

  • oh god ouch my god this is a horribl and amazing song shiiit

  • this is jordan, we do what we like

  • how the fuck do they get that sound?!

  • Drum machine, tons of echo...Albini plays with steel guitar picks. Clankety clank. This is the birth of industrial music.

  • Travis Bean aluminum necked guitar was the main source of his guitar sound

  • the birth? what year was this recorded?

  • 1986. And what I mean is that American industrial metal like Nine Inch Nails and Rob Zombie were heavily influenced by Albini's sound. The drum machine and the clanky, distorted guitar were the key elements.

  • They are awesome live! And I usually hate live shit!

  • albini is god

  • Oh, and I forgot to mention, I always loved the way they wore their guitars.

  • For those wanting any background on what this song refers to, simply search "Jordan, Minnesota".....you'll see what they are singing about.

  • now that it's been taken down, was it the pig pile one?

  • I love how they play...Albino, I salute you.

  • *Hahaha, I always write albino. It's a habit. I meant Albini. "I!"

  • Absolutely fucking amazing!!!

  • Just wonderful!

    Where was this recorded?

  • God this is so good.

Steve Albini produced In Utero right?

  • Comment removed

  • Well it is a song about paedophilia. Top marks there mate. If he had Down Syndrome, would he really be such a fantastic and renowned producer, not to mention. I'd give my right testicle and half my cock to be as good as Steve Albini. I doubt he's a paedophile.

He was in a band called Rapeman though.

  • Oh Christ, I made no sense there. I mean

Would he really be such a fantastic and renowned producer, not to mention have such a great body of work of his own?

As for is it really music....define music and then qualify whether it is or not. Isn't music's basest definition that it's sounds linked to form a rhythmic, tonal or melodic structure? This kinda fulfils that quota.

  • props 2 u my man, obviously some are not educated enough in punk/music culture to realise the true meaning about the song. an obvious anti pedifile song and alerting people to the issue itself! watch the news there is more issues that should be sang bout like this... why are there numnuts that cant dicifer a simple idea??

  • Hell. Yeah. Steve Albini is the light and the way.

  • I would do anything to have seen Big Black. What a fuckin' amazing sound. Genius.

  • amen.

although, im only 14 now, so i doubt very much i ever had a chance at seeing them..

  • This is Jordan, we do what we like...

  • this is one of my favorite songs of all time

  • I live like 10 mins away from Jordan MN. Its a very small boring town that is fun to get drunk in.

  • Amazing energy, fucken brilliant !!!!

  • excellent!!!

  • First ever song/video I heard of this band, I have never looked back, thanks rage

  • +1.................

  • same dude.

  • the last cool thing to happen before punk died...

  • Has anybody heard that Steve Albini fucked Pac-man?

  • i grew up on this

i thought this was what all bands did

    silly me

  • serious business

  • so, like many other cases, it sounds like the police/media/court feeding-frenzy put a load of inocent people through the fucking mill. which makes the subject matter even more twisted, to my mind.

  • Beginning in 1983, Jordan was swept up in an instance of what has been called satanic ritual abuse. Twenty-four adults were arrested and charged with acts of sexual abuse, child pornography and other crimes.

  • The Satanic Ritual Abuse thing was bullshit though, because in the Eleven Satanic Rules one of them is to "not harm children" and child pornography and child murder would be harming children. Plus, new evidence shows that Echols, Baldwin, and Misskelley had no DNA on the scene of the crime, and in fact, they had found the hair of Terry Hobbs (father of victim) in the victims bindings. And the knife wounds were actually animal bites from after death.

The only reason they won't be frees is beca

  • use the government can't admit they are wrong.

  • The scandal began with the arrest of 26-year-old James Rud on sex abuse charges. Rud undoubtedly had a history of child molestation, but "once Rud was arrested he was given a difficult choice by Minnesota's first woman county attorney, Kathleen Morris. Morris suggested: Name names and we'll go easier on you." Before long, many people were implicated in the scandal, and the case earned national press coverage.

  • Yeah, then Jim Rudd got 45 years and charges were dropped on everyone else, which exposed Morris as inept and overzealous,so the whole thing was a scandel for nothing, cept one child molester and a crazy DA.

  • I've come to gradually quite like this band, after reading loads about them.

  • Thankfully grunge wasn't the only thing happening back in Seattle back then (although I did hang out with Green River before the show started). This was a stunning show, best I've ever been to. It was in a steam plant with giant generators lining the hall, amazing atmosphere. Destroyed all their gear so there'd be no encores. Steve was so intense and insulted the crowd during the whole show but when I met him afterwards he was as cool as could be and really friendly.

  • the screams are pretty fuckin funny! are these guys serious??

  • Albini has a sense of humour but the song is very serious.

  • Fucking Amazing!!!!! Like a musical orgasm!!!!

Was it as good for you as it was for me?

  • Aye, there was no recycling back in '87. Have any of you guys noticed how it is acceptable in other media - ie books, films, even short poems - to point out the atrocity of others but allow the reader/viewer to judge...But if anyone does it in music, so many dicks get offended cos they can only think that the person is singing about/promoting their own point-of-view. Thinking about the DK Frankenchrist poster case as well. Anyhow, just a thought...

  • big black lyrics just show how fucked up the world we live in really is. there is just so much disturbing stuff going on in the world sometimes i just want to hide. thank god for people i can relate to like albini

  • so horrible!! what the songs realy about!!!!

  • haha yes, i can't get over how fucked up this is. sooo good though

  • I think what is mentioned in this lyrics happens everywhere! We just don't know about it!

  • hey i live in jordan

Why did i not know about this

  • also where in jordan was that and when

  • apparently it wasnt true. doesnt really matter though, still some dark sense of humour behind it all.

  • you too, fuck off

  • oh fuck off

  • totally kickass. Saw Shellac like a year or two ago and they killed as well....

Is it just me or does Steve Albini look exactly like McLovin here?

  • Pig fuck core will always rule

  • that is art, man... that shaped my high school existence, big black's music.

  • yes, brother. YES.

  • This shit just does not let up. Intense, great band.

  • this is the awesomest extended version ever

  • i grew up near jordan. they say if you drop your wallet in jordan, you best kick it out of town. but, seriously, there are some f-ed up rednecks out in dem der cornfields.

  • ah, i don't know about the worst, there is limp bizkit

  • wholy Sh*t. where did you find this video?! i dont even know if the song is on a CD

  • Well der, it was on Pigpile which was both a live video and live cd... I did have 2 copys of the cd, but after reading your comment I set fire to one, so you will never get your hands on it!

  • well der, why did you need two... one for each ear?

  • Der spaz.... I don't know where the second copy came from.

  • good answer. doesnt matter, the more Steve Albini , the better.
