@aadjuijn My pleasure. So happy to have discovered these fabulous artists on you utube courtesy of you. I can't imagine why I haven't heard of the Boswell Sisters before. I've ordered a CD. :)
@carolinabasketball21 The Boswell Sisters were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1998. At a ceremony covered by the Pfister Sisters, the Boswells were inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 2008. Better late than never! Grtz, Aad
One of my favorite Boswell Sisters songs. The lyrics are silly and fun. I think Kate Smith recorded this, too. At least she was on one version of the sheet music.
I've heard just about every song the Boswells sang, but not this. Hearing more of Martha adds a bit more heft and sass; I wonder if that was intentional or just the placement of the microphone. Anyway, I always enjoy a new discovery from these jazz greats--thank you.
If you listen to the Continental Broadcast songs you will hear that Martha tended to take the lead in many songs while Connie sang the solos. This early Brunswick is very similar in composition and Martha takes most of the melody.
Very enjoyable, thank you.

They were so pretty. Sad that they've been forgotten.

Five big stars for this great Boswell tune! A favorite song of mine but have not heard them sing this one. Thanks for sharing it!

Fabulous Jazz interpretation, less stylized than other vocalists at the time, a more natural phrasing and delivery, no wonder they were so popular.
