i like the work, but that's a massive amount of wasted space. would have looked nice to have a nice clean amp rack on each side.but the work itself was very good.and try to keep drivers that make mid bass( the 6x9s ) as far forward as you can away from the sub.the 6x9 drivers are firing into each other and will do little then make noise and slightly take away from the mid to upper range of the sub.
Nice!!! I wanna do a custom set up for my soarer but i have the idea in my head just dont know how im going to set it up or put it in the boot :S i'll find a way but very nice set up man
I bought an estate the reason for that is so i can make a F*** Off sound system in the boot nothing else, but I'm finding it hard to know where to start its a KIA RIO, what do you think?
Someone please tell me how to calculate the volume for custom shaped sub enclosures! I've just been doing boxes as a hobby but now I have people asking me to do custom REALLY weird shaped boxes and trying to tell them which sub would work best in the box volume created. If that makes sense lol. Would be great if there was a device that could figure it out somehow =(
Wow... how the heck did you fab all those curvy pieces of wood that made the frame for the surrounding "outer" structure. THAT's the part I found impressive!
they look great but when you sit a sub on a tiny little bit of wood and supoported the same you loose a real lot of sound. looks great but real deep base is lost.
ok, so what sort of fabric (or whatever was it) did you use for the finishing touch?? And where did you get it from?? And what sort of adhesive did you use??
Its acoustic carpet - available from ebay or good motorist stores (eg Halfords). I used spray adhesive - a bit tricky because it so sticky and you need to be careful not to get any on the carpet you see. Just take your time and do it in pieces...
very nice and clean install... I've been trying to get some vids up of my work but every time I do a system it seems to slip my mind to record it... I do have some finished pics i'll try to put up though, once again nice work...
i believe its 10 to 12 cc's of hardner to 1 quart of resin, mix well, and you got about 10 minutes to work before it starts to kick off on you. i just use a bottle cap per quart of resin and it works fine. just work fast and stop before it starts "jellying up". (and dont do it in the sun) peace.
This is awesome, great work, i wish i could make something like that for my car but i wouldn't no were to start lol. Keep it up and make some more videos. 5 stars.
so awesome man...i really wanna do something like this with my car, but watching these videos really makes me think that its out of my league, and i dont wanna skrew my car up so i dont try..
So much for infinite baffle on those rear speakers, they would sound like absolute shit, the air has free flow from the front to the back of the speaker. Nice design but no theory!
I am fully aware of that, and it was originally designed to have the 6x9's mounted directly on to the fibreglass but due to their depth it prevented the bootbuild coming apart (which was the original concept - a full boot build but you could still use space in your boot).. The spacers were a comprimise.
Hey, the fabric was then covered in a layer of fibreglass (although more than 1 layer is preferable). Fibreglass is very strong in curves but relatively weak in flat sections, so eliminating flat sections will give you a much stronger design. The stronger you want it the more fibreglass layers you use.
I am currently working on a flat-pack kit with step by step instructions to build your own boot install (new design not yet seen) (obviously requiring a few tools and a little handiness) let me know if you think its a good idea!
hey, thanks! i used an old bed sheet for the material to form the shape. It took me about a month off and on. The 6x9's were back lit by neons mounted under the boot trim sides. Im just building a new boot install so watch this space for more impressive ideas and install! thanks
that was the most helpful one (not bein sarcy) wot material did u use for the linin of the erm .... install. n how did u get the 6 x 9s on a glowin thing

how do you have the eon lights come on? just a switch in the boot, or do they come on when you open the boot or something?
kkavanagh123 1 month ago in playlist sub ideas
@kkavanagh123 The neons were wired up to the boot light so they came on only when the boot was opened
