I think that JLH has become a @ "regular" on the the show. It's sort of like when Carson had his show. Carson had "regulars" on the Tonight Show. Guests that Carson had fun

with and chemistry with. The audience knew ahead of time that it was going to be a fun interview. Craig had been on long enough to now have his list of fav guests. The more chemistry the more funny...!
