  • Best version.Forget all those disney star wannabes.

Watched this the other day.Was so bummed when I realized the VHS is now basically dead.I'd get it on dvd but the end credit song won't be as good.

  • Such an amazing movie. Truly a classic. Best of disney along with lion king. I cry whem i see this.

  • Oh, Howard Ashman and Jerry Orbach. May the good Lord bless their souls...

  • @ShredderzGirl

    who are those people?

  • @jaguar4u2012 Ashman was the lyricist for this, "Little Mermaid" and "Aladdin." And Orbach was the voice of Lumiere in this and Saluk in "Aladdin and the Forty Thieves.".

  • @ShredderzGirl

    oh,

and you were talking in a sort of way like they are dead...

    they are?

  • @jaguar4u2012 They are. Ashman died of an AIDS infection in March 1991 and "Beauty and the Beast" was released November of that year, hence the dedication in the credits. Orbach died from prostate cancer in December of 2004.

  • @ShredderzGirl

    sad things,

but that doesnt really matter, because they did great things in life, and we all love their works so in some way they will live on

I allways said, its better to die sooner as a Great person,

rather than living a long long life as a Nothing!

  • the Ultra 90's POP songs ^^

  • Disney finds the best people to sing the ending credits' song. :D

  • the song was great until 4:17

  • GENIOUS!!

  • 3:59 yay

  • Beautiful!

I remember that old VHS-cassette (with Russian translation) which my godmother gifted me when I was 6 or 7.

A lot of memories. Thanks for upload!

  • This Movie is so wonderful. I always cry when I watch it.

  • unfortunatly he didn't make a lion roar

  • Love this version of the english end credits, and the full-stop memorium to Howard Ashman at the end of the credits roll. We just bought the newer, Bluray DVD version of this movie and the end credits roll does not stop at the memorium to Howard Ashman, but rather keeps rolling (crediting Digital Restoration, or something like that). Sad. Always liked that the credits-roll stopped and paused on the tribute to Howard, and then just faded out. What we producers call an "obit fade" --an honor.

  • Geefwee Boedoe? That's one interesting name.

  • sucks the tv cuts this stuff out. seen on tv and had to look this up to see and hear this.

  • Damn, this song actually makes me shiver.

  • It's kinda sad that Gary Trousdale went from directing this to directing Shrek The Halls.

  • i MISS HOWARD ASHMAN AND JERRY ORBACH!

  • @jvfunn3000 They were truly great actors. This movie was proof that they were meant to play those character! it was a great movie. I miss them. they were great!

  • The best cartoon movie song ever made (and probably that ever will be made). DAMN Disney, what happened?! The Disney Renaissance era (1989 - 1999) gave us not just the best cartoon movies that will ever be made, but also some of the best movie music too. This one along with "Strangers like me" (Tarzan), "Can you feel the love tonight" and "Circle of life" (Lion King), Reflection (Mulan), A whole new world and many more, were the best!

Today its just Hannah Montana and the rest of the gang...

  • @Valkyria900 well they did produce Finding Nemo and The Incredibles. So there is hope they they are coming back.

  • 7 people are hanna montana fans.

  • @pete1210able and Justin Beiber fans.

  • ilove howard ashman r.i.p. i tink he die afther this movie was made

  • ah...back when watching the ending credits was awesome.

  • How I miss you, mr. Ashman.

  • imo celines best song :P

  • The dedication to Howard at the end always gives me a chill and chokes me up.

  • Thank you Howard. The little mermaid and The Beauty and the best are my favourite film. Thank you, I will be forever grateful. <3

  • dis is my movie

  • The dedication to Ashman is so perfectly put there is no possible elaboration that you can add to it

  • @TheChrisBelcher Oh yeah.

  • I didn't really like the way some Disney worlds in the Kingdom Hearts games were copied and pasted from their movies, but it really wouldn't have hurt to include Gaston in KH2. His absence from KH2 was a real let down for me.

  • Did James Baxter also animate Jasmine and Tiana?

  • @dolphinluv2413 No. He also did Rafaki in The Lion King and Quasimodo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

  • @dolphinluv2413 no jasmine and tiana were both animated by mark henn

  • LIKE IT

  • I don't care that Disney cartoon movies, and others cartoon movie that are for kids. No matter if you are too old for it. They are gonna keep on going to become one of those timeless classic of masterpiece over the year. When we have on heart about those movies. Good days in the 90's and 2000's.

  • When making this movie, everyone and everything involved with it had to keep coming back and forth to Howard Ashman in NY. Everyone wondered why Howard couldn't just come to them. They figured that he was too busy to travel. Alan Meken was the only one who knew the truth. It was far into production that Howard revealed to everyone else that he couldn't come to them because he was too sick to travel, he was dying from AIDS. When they heard that, they became completely supportive of coming to him.

  • Celine Dion what a great voice from a fellow Canadian!!!!!

  • Wow I didn't realize Pixar helped with this movie! Ha! Back when almost no one knew who they were....

  • i think animation deserves a lot of credit that the crap it gets from people. look at the work it's been put into. look at the list. it's just so incredible

  • Who's singing in this?

  • this is celine dion

    celine dion

  • I'm playing all of my Howard Ashman music and movies today for his birthday :)

my favorite songwriter ~ rest in peace, Howard

  • I'll never forget you, Howard. You're probably one of the best reasons why Disney keeps on going.

  • so gorgeous! without his songs I'd have nothing <3

*blows kiss up to heaven for Howard*

  • Not only did Howard give a Beast his soul, he gave a soul to every single kid on Earth born in the early/mid 90's.

  • it was 1991

  • to our friend Howard Ashman

who gave a mermaid her voice

    and a beast his soul

and a genie the power of laughter

  • @mikemelvyn4

    when did Howard Ashman die?

  • He died on March 14 1991 at a hospital in New York from AIDS! He was 40 1/2 years old.

  • @jvfunn3000 Yep, he died 6 months before this movie premiered. The whole cast and crew were VERY sad that he get to enjoy this movie's success with them. Howard would've been so proud of this movie and he would've also had been very proud of the Broadway musical of this movie, too.

  • @mikemelvyn4 and a shop it's horror

  • @mikemelvyn4 I think brought a tear to my eye...*sniff*

  • YAY!!!! old school animated movie credits music!!!! HIT that wooden block!!!

  • To our friend Howard;

    Who gave a Mermaid her voice;

    And a beast his soul;

    We will be forever grateful.

  • One of the most beautiful closing songs ever.....Thanks................

  • Yeah, its very pretty :)

  • may peace be on your soul howard ashman.

  • God, I can't resist the tearing up... it's so damn beautiful

  • The dedication to Howard Ashman always guts me.

  • It was pretty sad that he died! He did an excellent job with his work on The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin. He was a MUSICAL GENIUS! R.I.P. HOWARD ASHMAN 1950-1991!

  • @jvfunn3000 Don't forget "Little Shop of Horrors", Howard's movie before the Disney ones. It happens to be one my brother's favorite movies.

  • The sad thing was Howard didn't live to see the finished film, only the Work in Progress version at New York Film Festival =(

  • Howard Ashman - a masterful talent.

  • @GoddyofWar

  • Sorry, a Whole New World wins that in my book

  • One thing I cannot find. Who did the beautiful narration at the beginning of the film? My first guess was Alan Rickman but cannot find a credit anywhere. Any assistance would be deeply appreciated.
