A quasi-documentary about POTO, and still Christine is depicted as a brunette.
Leroux clearly says that Christine is a blonde!
How the hell could they make so many adaptation of the book, and not make the main characters as they should have been!?! The only ones that I know show Christine right is the 43 and 90s films, and a pinball.
And the Phantom - a 50 year old, walking skeleton as in the book... never shown like this.
@Wykletypl i think that Christine is usually brunette, because if she was blond, people would consider her character as a flat- stereotipical - incarnation of the dumb blond, and that for the maincharacter in a movie that's suposed to be 'serious' isn't all that good. Also I think they don't get the phantom right so that people will be drwan to the maincharacter phisically and lure young and unsuspecting audience to the cinema(see PotO 2004)
knowing david copper field from his shows he used to do i think that the ending would have been the usual is it real or just your imagination you figure it out and then somepoint during the credits explain that it was all fake and all that jazz... love your reviews
You are right that Daae was based on Nilsson who was claimed to have the voice of an angel. Too bad that we'll never know what she really sounded like.
This movie looks dumb...I guess I won't waste my time watching it. Awsome review though! So you might review other films?...My sister and I were watching Creepshow and thought it would be awsome if you did a review on that movie!
Perhaps Copperfield is telling the true story. Perhaps that really was the remains of Erik's lair. What if the Opera Grainier fially let the cat out of the bag but in a way no one would beleive so they wouldn't get publicity. these questions swim threough my brain as I sit in my dark room. I think to myself: the world may never know. MUUWHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
sorry with all the organ music in the video I felt I just needed to let that laugh out.
"I dunno. 'Twit' seems like a good word to me." (*ML snortlaughs*) BTW, did lahROU say, "pasttime" instead of "passtime"? Don't answer that! God forbid anyone would pause the video and listen to him say it again!
Yet, another great review! This "documentary" looks awful! I hate the DC's streaming of consciousness? What happened to Christine? The picture looks new, and the Phantom looks horrid. Can't the media give the Phantom a break?
LOL I remember this. Actually, I should still have it on VHS somewhere, although I'm not sure what shape it's in these days.
Yes, good lord, it was terrible. The only good thing about it was that at least it did show a lot of the interior of the Garnier.
But yeah... The ceiling above the chandelier on Gaston's tour is the one from the 1960s as well, lol. And dammit, couldn't they have found a blonde Christine?? Just once???
"Lobotomized gazelle" XD Or was that "Giselle?" Ballet costume etc.
ok whoever gave me that thums down oviously is that gulabul to beleave this supid documentory, if thats wat you gave it to me for, coz really the acting is so unconvincing, the script is awful and the oh so true facts are sooo NOT true and they couldnt even be bothered to use a real photo of the actual leru, or however you spell his name
hilarious review on utter shite! How can DC even call that a documentary!? It was like a patronising story time. Awesome videos dude, can't wait for the next!
my french teacher said that the correct pronunciation of raoul is the two syllable pronunciation-i'm not sure how to spell it phonetically...the pronunciation that isnt "rall"/emmy rossum pronunciation.
:P Never heard of this "documentary", now hoping I never would have. Still your reviews are great, and it's nice to let Christine speak also. What next? "Phantom Lover"? Dario Argento's infamous version?
arrr no no no you must never leave us!!!! *jumps on you*
also I can't wait to the Phantom of Manhatten review. I am looking forward to it even more then Argento. And if you really want to ruin the 2004 version read that book then what the movie and see how the shit got changed so the crap in the book would make sence when it is made it's sequal.
not only that but it also rapes what could have been a good movie. If i am in new york whne it opens i am going to go and try and see it cause i have to see how fucked it is going to be
Love Christine's little growl at the beginning and all her interjections throughout the review. Yay Christine! I've never heard of this version, but I guess there's a reason for that.
This is my first time commenting on one of your reviews, but I've been watching them for a while. For some reason, I absolutely love the fact that Christine finally helped review. Are you actually going to stop after the Argento film? I'm sure you could find some movie at least partially based off the Phantom...
Thanks for commenting. Theres one or two things I intend to do after Argento. I'll do a few specials on the books, and maybe look at movies like "The Man who Laughs" and "Hunchback".

Speaking of historical inaccuracy, I'm pretty sure that the Opera's Chagall ceiling was painted in the 1960s...
