I can still see Khalid Yasin's (Larry Young's) arm lifting into the air when he did those staccato chords; and it was up close to a foot off the keyboard! Williams' flailing! What a sight!
I have a polydor compilation with this title on it....but it's not the same. Mine is slower & has either Carol Grimes or Carla Bley singing (sic.) on it.
I would set the volume to eleven and rip off the knob playing this for my friends. While they were busy listening to pop (Dr. Sardonicus, Aqualung and Neal) I was killing them with the Lifetime. I knew from the opening of "To Whom It May Concern, Part 1" this was going to be something special. This inspires. It's effect has reached over the decades.
Well, this group's records set the standard for punk, heavy metal, death metal and on. It's a pity only 3,138 people listened to this tune. IT'S A REAL CLASSIC AND SHOULD BE KNOWN BY MORE PEOPLE. Johnny McLaughlin is up for the Polar Price this year and I hope that will change some peoples mind sets while reaching new audiences.
It's rumoured that Tony was originally gonna start the group as the four piece but with Hendrix on guitar instead. Pity he split for the great note in space when this was getting together as that combo would've been cum pure as the driven snow..
Tony swingin' and smokin' like crazy, John's delicious comp'ing behind Larry's exploratory organ surgery, and then puttin' it all together for that great line to end it

Jack Bruce of Cream also played bass on this. This is one of my favorite albums!
