My parents and I moved to Boca Raton in 1957, we must have went here over 50 times. On Sunday's after attending services at St Paul Lutheran Church we would take the free walk through the gardens passing by the waterfall to the lagoon where the geyser was located and watch the eruptions. When friends visited from up north we would always go here to take a tram ride to see the animals and a boat ride to see the alligators and giant catfish (3-4 feet long) swimming in the river and lagoon.
I used to live in Camino Gardens in BR in the 1970's. Used to have to stop the car to let the peacocks walk across the road, remanants from Africa USA. Never saw a zebra though.
I love this little park. I grew up in this neighborhood. As a child we would put our canoe in the little lake next to the geyser and then head north up the El Rio canal to florida Atlantic University. fishing for snook is great there. We would on occasion see alligators that went over the spillway. If anyone ever gets a chance to do this they are in for a treat.
My house, as well as my entire neighborhood, was built on top of Africa USA. I drive by the lake with the Watusi Geyser all the time. I didnt know what it was until recently.

Great to see this... I am researching for a Boca Raton history project, and this gives a better view of the park than anything I have seen so far.
