Gretsch guitars are stunning and I agree they might still be the best but the guitar Ray's playing in this vid is a Gibson Country Gentleman. Actually this model was originally designed and produced by Gretsch and so the sounf of this guitar is definitely Gretsch!!. All the best to u, friend.

Yes man, I know what you mean. I tried to purchase a Gretsch White Falcon (my favourite) or a Duo Jet but the price... anyway Gretsch put on the market the Electromatic series, but the sound's not the same.

Ray's ability to play like Chet has nothing to do with his being able to copy what Chet did...timing, touch, tone and his God given talent for music is what it takes. No one wants to be compared to the next, but since everyone gets great pleasure in doing it, I now officially nickname Ray "The Master".

I can give you a chart (Nashville Number System) of what he's playing. Sounds like he studied Chet's record and copied the licks pretty well. However Chet had "the touch of the master's hand"

I want to apologize for my earlier response. I was not feeling well. I am a finger style guitarist. I have talked with Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed, Tommy Emmuanuel and Nokie Edwards. I know a lot of rock players. Flat picking and running notes is not that hard to do. Pedals cover up touch, clean, tone and skill. Speed is not what good playing is about, it is touch, clean, ring and tone. Mark Knopfler also says Chet is the best, I have seen Mark play with Chet, Etc. I liked what I heard very good.
