Jimmy Hart was a master at playing the victim. Miz and R-Truth and their conspiracy victim don't hold a candle to the way Hart was able to manipulate it.

@mamacornettesmoney That's a huge leap in assumption. I welcome counterpoints and debate willingly, but Internet debating is getting old. A year ago, when I made that comment, I looked at it from a perspective more informed by what I felt was a perceived obligation for people to integrate. From my current, more atheistic viewpoint, I GET IT NOW that people are tribal, and that they should definitely pursue the primal urge to congregate with their own. It's nature. You're absolutely right, and n
Vince maybe to blame but so are the lack of fans.Everybody says the love & miss the old action but looking @ old attendance figures they didn't support anything but WWF.Wrestling did not help itself either with all the young deaths
The people that put on Memphis wrestling were great at what they did. As an 11 year old i ate this stuff up. Too bad it isn't like this anymore, great stuff.
You know what else used to be awesome about Memphis wrestling on channel 5? THE OPENLY-SEGREGATED AUDIENCE!
Swear on my mother: How many times did I turn on that show and see white fans on one side of the studio and black fans on the other? It's weird and sad to remember that, but--that's the place I call my hometown.
@MarsNova 'THEY" didn't openly segregate anything. A) You DO see whites mixed in with blacks sometimes, but B) People generally segregate themselves. The people were free to sit where they want to. People choose to sit with people they are more comfortable with.
Jimmy Hart is so AWESOME! This guy is something else. I loved watching him growing up in Memphis. Memphis Wrestling in the 70s and 80s had the very best storylines and gimmick matches by far. And some of the best workers ever and best interviewers ever!
Man this is a classic Jimmy Hart was thinking of a lie pretty quick that was a good one because Stan had busted him more please I know there is more from stan lane after that comment do you have more episode of that?
Old memphis wrestling was the best. there was always somtun going on every week. lawler should package up them and sell them online. in seasons from the very first show to the last. I'd buy em all
A classic line; putting the money in a savings account...they don't do promo like this. WWE take note. this is a great interview. "the other ledger" lol...classic. I'll have to use that line myself.
Ric McCord got his start in Angelo Poffo's ICW promotion. Somebody said McCord was a pioneer in backyard wrestling. After Memphis,
he held titles in San Antonio and Kansas City.
McCord was pretty good in the ring, but he wasn't good on the mic and had a squeeky voice. His real name is Patrick Helvey and currently owns a limo company in Roanoak VA.
Before this incident, Stan Lane never spoke. He just wrestled. Sweet Brown Sugar didn't speak until he joined the First Family of Professional Wrestling. I saw this live and I laughed my butt off as a nine yr. old.
The complete Jamie Dundee shoot interview just got posted. Really good, he talks a lot about Memphis. It is not under a Memphis tag so it might get missed. Just type in Jamie Dundee. Great stuff.
GShea - Great find and one of Jimmy Hart's best spins. For those that saw it originally, no one saw it coming.Lane was a top notch heel and Hart loyalist at this point.I think he was already working with Steve Keirn behind the scenes here. Does anyone know if Ric McCord (in the match w/black tights) was related to Mike McCord (aka Austin Idol)? I have seen their names confused as one in the same before.
I have been searching for an answer to your question but have not been able to find out yet. Austin Idol's real name is Dennis McCord, and he wrestled as Mike McCord before morphing into Austin Idol. Ric McCord was the jobber who wrestling for a time in Memphis. If I had to guess I would say they are not related, since it is not mentioned anywhere, but I am not 100 percent sure.
Thanks for the follow up. It's trivial, but I've always thought these two shared a lot of physical features and could be related. Ric McCord started off as a decent mid-card tallent, then dropped out of sight quickly.
what a con job; snow job!!!! blah blah blah!!!!

Not making a big political statement--just talking about what I saw. Nothing more.

@MarsNova You said it was sad, though. What's sad about people choosing to sit with people they are comfortable around?

Is this Sweet Brown Sugar ,Skip Young?
He looks like Koko Ware through the quality and I never knew Skip Young was a heel.
rtenny7 3 years ago
It's KoKo. In Memphis, KoKo went by the name "Sweet Brown Sugar" for a while. Jimmy Hart mentions changing his name in the clip.
mamacornettesmoney 3 years ago
There were a lot of Sweet Brown Sugars in the different territories of the 70s and 80s. This is indeed Koko Ware.
