  • I still cant understand why these guys havent been appreciated as much as they should be. It's like standing on a stick of dynamite and not hearing it go off. The music world must have been tone deaf or maybe totally deaf .

  • i heard this song for the first time the other day, and i immediately wanted to know who was responsible for its production, so i could wish him ill, i swear to god, whoever is behind this song i hope dies slow and painfully, and this is in no way a death threat, but when it should or had happened, i will celebrate that date!!!! its kinda nice to know that they produced shit back then too, and we aren't the only ones suffering through this garbage they try to pass off as music these days......

  • @Bondbt82 the rest of yous are a bunch o fags! not to put down the homo's, cause elton john rocks!, but i cant piss you off by callin you niggers now can i?

  • They made some pretty heavy songs as well. Sweet did everything.

  • there wont be anything like the music of the 60's 70's or 80's early 90's mad times sad cos our families were always skint!!!

  • Dance is the best Music Genre.

  • This song made me so happy when I was just an ignorant kid, :)

  • Sweet memories from 70´s

  • Awesome this song just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside :D

Those were the days of good music...

  • Steve's suit is cool

  • Jeez, this takes me back to being a nipper. Loved the Sweet. these tunes just stay in your head forever.

  • sweet were so underated and were a fantastic band they were like da vinci a genius like brian connelly and he died tragically long live brian

  • Pretty Sweet!:-)))

We were so lucky to have so many Fun Bands...Great Times!

  • U2 wish they were that good looking!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The girl in that white dress is pretty good looking !

  • @klonkku10 i agree... shes hot !

  • AMAZING SONG!!!!

    That's Music.

  • how could anyone from back in these days go past this

  • I wish they never did those nutty songs , tha power of sweet came with their own stuff.

  • @ShareTheSphere OK, that's a valid opinion, but there's another side, equally valid: That the Sweet were, first and foremost, a pop VOCAL band. The music, whether early pop or later hard rock, was only a setting for those incredible four-part harmonies. The reason I like the early "nutty" stuff so much is that those great voices are easier to hear.

  • @endora60 i can dig that

  • I remember when I heard this song for the first time. I was 11. I heard them live and everyone were singing along. Fantastic!

  • i love this music. i learned it from my dad

i'm 17 and i almost know all the lyrics of all their songs

  • That girl in the white dress is giving it some lol.

  • .......... such sweet memories

  • THIS SONG IS FANTASTIC!!!!

  • These songs actually make much sense, lyrically, for the time. Due to the airlines in the UK having advanced mass passenger air travel during the 60's and 70's, excursions by Britains to sunnier climes in Spain, Thailand, etc. Imagining a trip to a place nearer the equator during the damp cold winter months was beginning to become more of a reality. Which I think would have lent

more of an approval for these types of songs.

  • one of the best from the70s

  • Great song!

  • lol how is german, or whatever language it is a part of this ??

  • Ah probably because Sweet also has a big fan base in Germany????darrrrrr

  • Well probably because they were pretty big in Germany????darrrrrrrr

  • Great Song

  • Great song! Reminds me of the Archies!

  • I think this was the very first record of theirs i bought? aww, brings back nice memories!

  • THIS SONG IS FANTASTIC!!

  • i remember their 2 big hits back from the 70's, (little willy & fox on the run), i love this group, and thanx to youtube have a renewed love of this band. too bad they didn't do as well here in the U.S. as they did in europe. still, by watching the many videos on youtube, it's so sad to know that these are over 30 years ago & i wish it was now. although they did glam it up, they were more than glam. thanx for the video.

  • I like the M-Kids (Belgium) cover version of this song!

  • Thats a rubbish version! It cant even come close to this version!

  • @spikeman14

lol, it's just what it says: kids version of the great original!

This one is unbeatable, brings so much memories. One of my favorite songs before I discovered Deep Purple.

  • MY FAVOURITE SONG OF SWEET.

    I LOVE IT!

  • Hard to believe these are the same dudes who would later go on to crank out such powerful macho rock like "sweet fa" or "no you don't" or even "action" !! This is reverse of almost every other rock group in history who started out heavy and later sell out and begin making bubble gum material to sell records. Sweet deserve credit for this fact alone.

  • Like Judas Priest my fiend............

  • that's right, especially rob halford's most recent solo effort, the big difference is that judas priest were never top forty pop like sweet were in the early 1970s

  • Brian Connolly was theeee best front man for the GLAM Rock era, sorry to hear he passed away a coupla years ago.. I remember watching this on top of the pops.. I was about 11... they were great, Slade also another favorite :)

  • @0213Mal He died on 9th February 1997not a coupla years ago. RIP darling Brian Connolly. I wish you were still around.

  • @astonmerrygoldfan09 Poor sod drank himself to death didn't he? :-(

  • I'm jealous of the singers pants... *sorry don't know his name right off* although i love this band alot.

  • brian connolly.

    R.I.P. brian.

  • is the blond guy dead???

    reply please

  • sorry to say- yes. but not forgotten.

  • yes...Brian connoly...died of scirrosis of the liver. The drummer, Mick is also dead. Died of leukemia

  • damm i was in love with that man, every week they where on TopPop and i was sick when it was over *crying* i was 9 (A)

  • sweet live ´.. habe ich gesehen ..

  • WOOOOOT :P!!!!

  • AMAZING SONG!!!!

  • tja......schade sprechen...:(

  • Sweet 70s.. I wish I lived back in the time.

  • can tell you it was great!!!!!

  • After writing the memory I had with this record here below...and watching this video today again....and see Brian smile all the while and enjoying himself..I miss him even more now!!! Such a shame he's gone too soon!A reunion would have been so great!

  • Wauw...

I can listen this every day.

  • And I was born in 57... This is the original soundtrack of my life!!!

  • Hi! I too was born in 57... Brian Connolly forever. R.I.P. sweetheart, your troubles are over now...

  • some of the besdt blonde hair of the 70s!

  • I love the girl that gets into the dancing at 2:12

WEHMUT!

  • Hallo Mrs. Rutherford

  • Schau mal in dein Postfach...^^

  • Lol at 0:53 when andy is behind brian

  • oooh

    very young boys

now is legendary band - The Sweet

  • When i was 13 i listen the music from "Sweet"

  • i remember this from a holiday camp in italy 2 years ago

  • Sweet is the sound of the 70's. You might push forward Zeppelin and Floyd, but Sweet captures both the rock and the *sigh* pop that made the 70's as sexy as they were.

Long live that soul pumping beat.

  • I love the sweet, so swet music

    Hah

  • I wish that music nowadays was as good as this...too many people believe that computer generated sounds are music :( In my opinion you need to now how to play and ACTUAL instruments for it to be music

  • i was born in the 80 but i heared this song 1986 and i still rember how i danced as a 4 yeared old child poppa joe yeah those songs were and are great

  • I was born in 56, so I heard Sweet life, hihihi.

    (sorry for my english)

  • glad, that these videos are still watched nowadays. I was a big fan in the 70!

  • u can´t hear Andy´s great guittar playing

  • The Sweet is so amazing , this sounds like the partridge famliy , and others sound hard like Queen.

  • AMAZING SONG!!!

  • I remember I buying this record, played it on my record-player, and my whole family came into my room and started dancing!!!

Great and joyful song! Lovely summer-song again like Sweet Co co...

Thanks for uploading this! Great memories,Thanks Brian and friends for the all these nice moments!

  • i agree this is some funny / good musik

  • Great comment!

  • You must be joking - Poppa Joe is probably their most aired song!

  • ballroom blitz definatly i never heard this song b4

  • I always become when I hear this song, my dad used to sing it when we had a shampoo called Bubble Joe!:P

  • Everytime I see this I always laugh when Andy dances behind Brian. :P

Then at 0:55 when Brian looks at Andy I think he looks kind of mad at him for it lol. Like he's thinking "Hey dick! That was my spotlight moment!" Even if he was mad though, He probably didn't care cuz he just starts smiling again at 0:59. =D

  • all songs are so freaking great! why werent these guys kings of the world?

  • best

  • Lmao! When Andy dances behind Brian!! Bahaha. I wonder if he ever noticed.

I can safely say that I no longer can pick a favorite song from Sweet. There's simply just too many to pick only one. I love them all equally so they are all my favorites I guess lol.

  • Cuba will be free - no matter, what Obama and his slaves thinks and do - long live the revolution! Che Guevara and Tamara Bunke - Comandante Tanja - you will be lovers for ever! The black legion will join the revolution and will NEVER forget your sacrifice!

  • Um...........O-kay............I agree that Cuba deserves and will be free...........but what does that have to do with the video, The Sweet or "Poppa Joe"?

  • Its just a cool song, that makes my troops feeling good, bevor killing anyone of this amaerican bastards

  • Golly, you have troops? That's cool! What's your rank? I thought maybe you were mad at me because I'm American. I know we're doing many bad things, and I wish there was something I could do to help. All I can do is pray for you. I have no political power-I'm just a disabled artist/musician, who lives in a community for disabled people, and who loves The Sweet, The Archies, Mad magazine's Spy vs Spy, (Their creator was Cuban!), The Monkees, and many others. I wish you the best of luck!

  • Oh.......uh..........please pardon me, I know I'm just a stupid American-I hope you're not too mad at me for that-but I have a question. You mentioned Che Guevara. I know he was a revolutionary, but wasn't he from Argentina? Didn't he protest the Peron Dictatorship in the 1950's? I'm sorry for asking stupid questions. I'm glad we both agree on at least a couple of things-Sweet is the greatest and "Poppa Joe" is one of their best songs!

  • I have a tape that I made myself, on which I've tried to collect as many of my favorite Sweet songs as i could, even resorting to taping them directly from Youtube with a hand-held tape recorder! Now, in the US, part of our slang is when we want to express approval about something, or say that something's really great we say, "Sweet!" That's our way of saying ,"I really like that!", Well, I aptly titled my tape "Now that's Sweet!" using the expression as a pun to show how much I love Sweet!

  • While all of these are wonderful, wonderful songs, they represent only a small fraction of what this incredible group can do. Before I started watching The Sweet on Youtube, I had no idea they were so versitile-that is, I didn't know they had such a wide range of musical styles in their repitore, and could play all of them so well! I really wish we could have heard more of The Sweet in The US!

  • I wish we had more wonderful Sweet songs like this one available to us in The United States. THe Sweet only had 4 hits in the US-"Little Willy", Ballroom Blitz", "Fox on the Run", and "Love is like Oxygen". I also have "Wig Wam Bam", "Action", Teenage Rampage", "California Nights", "The 6-Teens", "Sixties Man", "Fever of Love", "Mother Earth," "Stairway to the Stars", "Blockbuster", "Lost Angels", and "The Lies in your Eyes" on "The Best of Sweet", which is available here in the US.

  • i never really was a big fan. but this song is great;)

  • damnit! i can't hear andys great guitar playing in this song =(

  • i always loved ballroom blitz but now that i just watched a few more of their song they are one of the best bands ever!

  • Poppa Joe one of the leeser known ofh sweet's songs but good all the same great to see all these great memories eh take me back to when i was 12 and brian so cuteand a great loss when he died

  • heeeeeerlijk ff terug in de tijd!!!!

  • awesome! it makes me feel great, cute guys, i like Brian's voice and him

  • this is fantastic im going to make a youtube video with my cat to this song

  • this is the best song in the world they should be the presedents

  • Dood this is so cool they should be the BEST band in the WORLD!!!!!!!!!

  • Great vid. It´s kind of funny, but i have never heard music classified as "Bubblegum", i were a young teen when Sweet started, so i and all others of "my generation" heard all their songs, in those days, you were out if you didn´t knew all their songs, and whatever it is/were called, i liked all these "Gum songs" they were great "partystuff". lmao while i remember a lot, which is for my ears only ;o))))

I only knows "Bubblegum" as gum witch you could/can make very big bubbles ;o))

  • this was their early stuff when they had the steel band behind them. this was before ballroom blittz and al the rubbish they did later. this stuf was fun.

  • lol i agree with Cassaraa3x3, my mum had their cd and i listened to it for ages when i was little, i'm late teens now and still adore them... esp Brian, such a gorgeous guy (r.i.p) xxx

  • what eh great reggea song

  • It's not reggae. Its bubblegum

  • what?lol hahahaha

bubblegum are you serious is that the name

  • Yes. Bubblegum was the transition between the late 60's music style into the early 70's glam rock. Sweet's songs such as this, Co-Co, Jeanie, and Slow Motion are all classified musically as "Bubblegum" music.

  • ow ok thx 4 information

first time i hear that name bubblegum hehe

  • Its not either "Reggae", or "Bubblegum". Poppa Joe is "Calypso". "Little Willy", and "Wig Wam Bam", could be classified as "Bubblegum"
