I just threw stuff at him. EMP grenade, both poison gas canisters, a fire extinguisher, and the two explosive barrels on the right side of the room. He went down and I fired not a single shot. If you time it just right, he never even gets a chance to move from the center of the room.

@ninjaman690 You don't need the EMP at start, EMP just gives you time to get the first gas canister. Without EMP, strafe/turn to right immediately as battle begins, ducking behind the pillar and get the canister. (or if you have any grenade, use that, it'll give you couple of seconds)

@MrSquirrelpunter There's all kinds of stuff in the room itself and the EMP grenade is optional anyway - it makes it easier to throw that first gas ganister as he's not shooting your face while at it. But going quickly to the right behind the pillar right from start works as well.

@unitim Or just 2 typhoons, right? Not everyone is carrying that huge rocket launcher with'em or even have the typhoon augmentation. But that's what's great about Deus Ex, many ways to do things and so many playing styles.

The same happened to me, at least 45 minutes and countless attempts before I went for the gas tanks and barrels, so I made the vid in case someone else would be struggling with it like I was. After all the difficulty, it felt a bit silly to beat him so easily :)

@EyeMadProductions If you don't have an EMP grenade, just go straight for the gas tanks on the right and start with those. Grenade makes it a bit easier as Barrett gets stunned and you can aim more carefully without worrying about getting hit too much
