I just tried making the sandwich today. It's all right, I guess. But one advice I'll give is: don't put too much peanutbutter in the sandwich. It gets a little "yucky" otherwise, IMO. Next I'm trying peanutbutter jelly sandwich. :)

On top of the peanutbutter you are suppoust to put bacon stipes all over and use the fat from the bacon and mix it in the banana mash. Then frie it in butter.

Ingredients

1 quart vegetable oil for frying

1 (10.25 ounce) can beef gravy

5 medium potatoes, cut into fries

2 cups cheese curds

1.Heat oil in a deep fryer or deep heavy skillet to 365 degrees F (185 degrees C). While the oil is heating, you can begin to warm your gravy.

2.Place the fries into the hot oil, and cook until light brown, about 5 minutes. Make the fries in batches if necessary to allow them room to move a little in the oil. Remove to a paper towel lined plate to drain.

3.Place the fries on a serving platter, and sprinkle the cheese over them. Ladle gravy over the fries and cheese, enjoy

@saraben000 you should try making it. If you can find peanuts and you have a decent food processer, you can easily make a great peanut butter. Youtube shows a ton of peanut butter recipies. Just avoid ones that add sugar... I use honey when making my peanut butter.

Another tip: You can also put peanut butter on each side of the bread and put the mixture in between them if the bread is hurt by the banana to you. (I haven't ever fried it, but I had the sandwiches uncooked with sliced banana before)

You mashed it? I just cut them up into rounds or slices and put them into the sandwich. I guess it might be easier to put on something though if it was mashed since my sandwich tends to fall apart due to me using a whole banana for one dinky sandwich.

Ha! Many of us Americans have been making a variation of this sandwich for years, as others have already said. I am one of those who simply slices bananas on top of the peanut butter, then eats. I HAVE mashed the banana into the peanut butter before, sometimes adding a bit of honey, then spreading on the bread or toast and eating. I think peanut butter and banana is one of the best PB combos of all time. Not only that, but if you don't fry it, it's good for you too! I just subbed to you.

Oh, BTW...I think this is wonderful on whole grain breads too. I've never been fond of white bread, even as a child. (Which is what I was when I first tried this combo.) I'm having this now as a late breakfast.
