@ol1t1lo This aria is from Mozart's "La Clemenze di Tito", on of his later operas with a Da Ponte libretto (It was written between Cosi and Zauberflote). I think this opera is VERY underknown- the score is glorious, as you can tell! This particular aria was actually written for a male castrato, but usually a female pants role nowadays. This aria is about the character Sesto to assassinate the Emperor, Titus, in order to be in the good fortune of his love, Vitellia, whom is mad at Titus.

Thanks for uploading this video, I am currently studying this Mozart's aria, and It will be very useful. Elina is doing here very well and I love her. I've been studying listening to Magdalena Kozená, perhaps with an interpretation with more domain most experienced and also a technique haughtiness.

But I love Elina for her ease, her smile, her elegance, and so on. etc.

Wow...talk about getting it right in one take! That was pretty great...only thing that was missing for me was an element of excitement in the last section...perfection, yes...but it could have been a little more exciting...using a brighter color to the voice would have helped. But still a gorgeous performance!

She is much better in this video than in other videos. She is certainly talented, but has intonation problems as well as technical problems (they are both related). She should have taken a fest contract in Germany and settled her technique and style.

Next time, before speaking, do your research. Ms.Garanca HAD a fest contract in Germany for over a year and had the good sense to get out of it. Those houses are notorious for overusing and killing voices.

Her Carmen HD broadcast drew the highest attendance numbers to date and her run in the role was SOLD OUT at the Met, something no one else has done this season. Must be something there, no?

Netrebko's performances are also sold out and she is not a refined singer. At all. American audiences are notoriously uneducated. That CARMEN sold out at the Met is neither surprising nor interesting. Garanca's technique is uneven and her "line" is not refined. She has talent, but needs work.

Ooh! I recently started really listening more to Garanca, and I loveeee her voice! I'm a huge Kiri fan, and she reminds me a bit of her. Their voices are quite different, but they have a very similar "rich" quality, that's very dark and gorgeous but not false or overbearing, it's very pretty. I'm looking forward to seeing where Ms. Garanca's career heads in future years.
