Saw them on DVD at the PBS My Music show in Pittsburg @2001. I thought they stole the show and that's not easy when Earl Lewis & The Channels are also performing. You're right, 37gasr, Eugene's voice is better than ever with age and experience and they've still got their timing. Pure soul.
@resqume853 Gene and the group appear often in the northeast. They will also be on the bill for an Oldies cruise out of Florida in December. There's a Facebook Fan Group. Check it out.
This man, Eugene Pitt, is a gentleman of the highest order, and he sounds as good today as he did when I first heard this song while building models of hot rods in my basement in 1961. Here we are 50 years later and he is still singing and I'm still building hot rods. Only real ones now. I have, since then, improved my hot rod building skills. Eugene needed no improvement.........
Why do so many mediocre and talentless people make millions from the music business while guys like this don't? These old r&b vocalists never seem to lose their touch - god bless them all!
Wonderful song! It was #3 in 1961. Great music like this is timeless. Thanks for posting this recent performance. It's good to see the "old-timers" still have it.
