So how does the length between the nunchucks affect the use?

The shorter the chain or cord is, the faster they swing. The longer the chain or cord is, the heavier/more powerful the blow is. 1" chucks are mainly used to tricks and competition, but the ones you see with the longer chains are more for combat type purposes.. At least that is what I was taught.

The Nunchucks he is using are speed chucks or demonstration nunchucks. They are a lot easier to use than the heavier combat style nunchucks. And yes people used to use nunchucks in real combat situations. Especially in korea where they were a tool used by women in various household chores. These moves are much harder with real nunchucks. I moved most of the over to longer chained chucks and it took some practice.

The Nunchuks I bought from China has a longer chain than the ones on these, so many of these catches are more difficult as the individual sticks are further apart.

this I said 1 month ago is absurb. Who would care about that. This is a modern peace time. Carry a stun gun or a taser gun for defense. Prochux are an art, to practice, to master oneself. This is what I learnt out of FNF. Dont use chux to fight plus dont compare their strenght. So sorry i was being childish.

pro chux looks like a toy more than a wep. The old fashion nunchucks, maybe slower to spin and harder to weild, but way powerful and supressing. with a thugs who never care about what-soever chakus but like nailed bat and machette, would probaly grin :" wot, you wanna threat me with that?" when they corner you and you take the prochux out.

totally agree.... pro chux maybe good for show.... but, it's quite clear from the close-up shot that they can be used to train ur dog at the most... it can hurt lil kids i'm sure..

i jus weighed my old-fashioned 13.5" wooden nunchaku... weighs close to a kilo! and the chain is much too long and the chucks much too thick to do that flashy catch with...

ya, absolutely not, you can like if your done fighting or practicing you can just swing it and catch and then finish up with them in one hand so you can slip them in your pocket or backback or something. You could actually do that move with your nunchucks (chains) but it's really pointless- practice everything though it doesn't matter. btw Check out my videos for decent nunchaku (I'm still learning on my own though)

Depends on the style.

If you want control and speed you want it closer to the chain, but you sacrifice reach and power.

If you want power, do the opposite, but you risk grip and get longer reach. Less control though.

I might have that mixed up, but uhhh, correct if wrong.

if you're using the traditional chain u hold it at the top for spins but if u have chux like his you really should b holding them at the bottom
