A race prepared automatic works VERY well for hardcore offroading like desert racing. Most V8 powered offroad race trucks use automatics.

I can't find info on this anywhere Why do Prerunner/ trophy trucks etc have the orange and red combination tail lights? It seams to be orange for running and red for brakes. I have my guesses but what are the rules and regulations for them to be that way?

@extreek Desert offroad racers are required to have a high mounted rear facing "Dust light", It must be ON at all times the race vehicle is running. It is best if it is a fog light. The point is that a yellow light shows up through dust behind a vehicle better than any other color, just like in fog.

@extreek This makes the truck or buggy easier for the racers behind to see it. Many trucks have their stock lights on the back and will often still have turn indicators on the truck, even if they don't work anymore. But turn indicators are not required for racing. If you see a blue light on the back it indicates the racer is in one of the less fast classes. That way, faster racers coming up for a pass can tell the car in front is slower than them. Not all organizations use the blue lights.

Nope. Maybe the big chevy block will pull ahead in the race but will definately start overheating and will break down after the first 10 miles. While the 22R will keep on going and going and going and going til the race is finished. Tough little engine.
